    Velvet’s Edge with Kelly Henderson

The Velvet’s Edge Podcast is an invitation to explore the beautiful, messy truth that real growth is an inside job. Hosted by Kelly Henderson—a celebrity stylist and men’s groomer who has learned firsthand that “looking good” on the outside only gets you so far—this podcast is a space for the conversations you don’t always hear out loud.

Life has a way of knocking us flat, and Kelly believes there is purpose in that pain. She uses her own journey of plot twists to show that true beauty is found by going inward. On some days, you’ll hear deep dives with therapists, healers, and other people who have turned their pain into something beautiful. On other days, Kelly and Chip Dorsch laugh their way through the weird, messy “WTF is this life?” moments, because growth is easier when you and your bestie can laugh through it together.

This podcast is for you if you’ve ever felt empty despite doing everything you were “supposed to” do. It’s for you if you’re stuck in a toxic relationship cycle and don’t know how to get out. It’s for you if you’re in the middle of a total life plot twist and have no idea where to start. You aren’t broken beyond repair. You are simply a human on a soul’s journey, and even though we each have our own path, it’s a lot easier when we have a little help from our friends.

Grief Isn’t a Straight Line: Rethinking How We Heal What We’ve Lost (The Edge) Jul 25, 2025
    Show notes

Grief comes in all forms—and it’s not just about losing someone. In this episode, Kelly and Chip get honest (and a little unhinged) about the messy, weird, and very real ways grief has shown up in their lives. From heartbreaks and identity shifts to the quiet losses no one talks about, they explore how our culture often skips past grief—and why that doesn’t really work. With their usual mix of humor and heart, they share what’s helped them move through it, what definitely hasn’t, and why healing isn’t one-size-fits-all. If you’ve ever felt like you were doing grief “wrong,” this is your reminder: you’re not.

What If We’ve Been Getting Grief All Wrong? Finding the Magic in the Tragic with John Tsilimparis (The Velvet) Jul 23, 2025
    Show notes

Grief isn’t just about death—it shows up in breakups, job loss, identity shifts, and the quiet heartbreaks of everyday life. In this episode, Kelly sits down with grief expert and psychotherapist John Tsilimparis, author of The Magic in the Tragic, to talk about grief recovery, emotional healing, and why our culture gets grief all wrong.

They discuss how unresolved grief can fuel anxiety and panic, the power of mindfulness in emotional chaos, and practical tools for those navigating loss. If you’ve been taught to rush through grief or skip over heartbreak, John offers a completely different approach—one rooted in compassion, mindfulness, and emotional honesty. He shares tangible tools for navigating anxiety, moving through pain instead of avoiding it, and finding meaning in the mess—even when our culture doesn’t give us permission to grieve.

Can We Talk About the Real Fight Now? (Spoiler: It’s Not the Dishes) (The Edge) Jul 04, 2025
    Show notes

Whether it’s a tense moment mid-podcast, a weird fight with your partner, or a silent meltdown over the dishwasher—this week, Kelly and Chip dig into the moments that seem small but hit surprisingly hard. Inspired by a real-time disagreement between Kelly and astrologer Marv, they explore how emotional triggers sneak into our reactions... and how it’s rarely about what we think it’s about.

From ego flare-ups to awkward self-awareness, they break down:
    – Why that “tiny” comment felt like a personal attack
    – How to tell the difference between overreacting and finally reacting
    – What to say when you’re actually feeling hurt (and not just mad about the text)
    – And the art of not combusting at the cookout

With the 4th of July around the corner—aka prime time for family tension and wine-fueled sensitivity—Kelly and Chip offer real (and funny) tips to help you pause, reflect, and maybe not flip a table over the potato salad.

Because the fight’s rarely about the thing… it’s about what the thing poked in you.

When the Astrology Hits Mid-Podcast: A Cancer New Moon Plot Twist Jul 02, 2025
    Show notes

Kelly sits down with astrologer Marvin Wilkerson to talk about the deeply emotional waters of the Cancer New Moon—how this lunation calls us to reflect on our inner world, self-image, and the stories we carry from childhood. But halfway through the episode, theory turns into practice as an unresolved issue from a past conversation resurfaces between Kelly and Marv—showing the exact astrology he was explaining in real time.

From soul lessons to soft shells, and how our ego can still run the show, this episode is both a cosmic download and a raw, real-time reminder that astrology isn’t just something we study—it’s something we live.
