    A. Irregular Warfare (IW) is a struggle among state and non-state actors to influence populations and affect legitimacy operations, and security cooperation.

    B. The Range of Military Operations (ROMO):The range encompasses three primary categories:

    1. Military engagement, security cooperation, and deterrence

    2. Crisis response and limited contingency operations

    3. And large-scale combat operations (LSCO)

    C. Phases of Military Operations

    Phase 0: Shape

    Phase I: Deter

    Phase II: Seize Initiative

    Phase III: Dominate

    Phase IV: Stabilize

    Phase V: Enable Civil Authority

    D. Unconventional Warfare (UW): Activities conducted to enable a resistance movement or insurgency to coerce, disrupt, or overthrow a government or occupying power by operating through or with an underground, auxiliary, and guerrilla force in a denied area.

    E: The Seven Phases of Unconventional Warfare

    1. Preparation

    A year after his injury, triple amputee Marine Gunnery Sergeant (GySgt) Brian Meyer is well known for his great attitude. “We have no delusions about what we do,” he says, “injuries are part of it. You make your peace with God and accept it. It’s part of the job. “ Brian believes that “hard work at physical therapy and a positive attitude will see you through.”

    GySgt Meyer was injured March 14, 2011 while engaged in combat with enemy forces in Afghanistan. His injuries resulted in the amputation of his right leg, right hand, and the thumb and pointer finger of his left hand.

    John Lorin Borling (born March 24, 1940) is a retired major general of the United States Air Force whose military career spanned 33 years. He has piloted many aircraft including the F-15, F16, F-4, the SR-71 Blackbird, the U-2, and B-52 and B-1 bombers.     Wounded But Not Broken - Show 9 - Hours of boredom, moments of terror Nov 23, 2021

    Special Guest Joshua Sust was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on January 20th 1987. After graduating from high school in 2006 he was on a bus to Parris Island MCRD. After 13 grueling weeks he finally accomplished his greatest achievement, becoming a United States Marine. Upon completion of boot camp PVT Sust was off to SOI and was headed to the Fleet Marine Force with 2nd Battalion 4th Marines. Cpl Sust spent a total of 7 years with 2/4 with three deployments. His first two were the 31st and 11th MEU.

    On his last and final deployment CPL Sust was deployed to Helmand Provence, Afghanistan in September of 2011. On a day he will never forget which has come to be known as his alive day. November 12, 2011 at around 0830 Cpl Sust was on a mounted patrol when his vehicle was hit by and IED causing his door to be blown off and ejected. His injuries were massive, TBI, PTSD, shattered tub/fib, left foot with open fractures on both bones in his left arm. After years of therapy and 9 surgeries later CPL Sust was medically retired from the Marine Corps in Aug 2013.
