    EP 59 – SHOK-1 Apr 04, 2016
    Show notes

Shok1 holds a mysterious position in the mural world. Absolutely everyone knows his work and holds him in the highest regard… but nearly nobody actually knows him. The illusive artists has been painting walls in London since the early 80s and seems to move throughout the city with very few people knowing what he’s up to. Effortlessly changing from one style to another every few years it’s nearly impossible to pin him down and figure him out. Known for his technical precision and mastery of the spray can as a tool, Shok1 dropped jaws worldwide a few years ago when he debuted his newest X-Ray technique, without a doubt cementing his place in the scene as one of the leaders of the pack when it comes to technical skill, originality, and creativity.

Shok1 rarely does interviews if ever, so it was a great honor to sit down with him and dig inside his massively complexed and thoughtful brain. Strap in and hold on… this one is a wild ride.

    EP 58 – CARATOES Mar 15, 2016
    Show notes

Fresh from having work in the XX exhibition in London’s Saatchi gallery, and technically still on a painting tour that has lasted at least 12 months.. We managed to sit down with CARATOES to find out what its all about, how she manages to keep going at this rate and where she is headed.

Also need to give a huge shout to Dan London Graffiti for letting us once again take over his place to record these shows..

    EP 57 – JAYBO MONK Feb 29, 2016
    Show notes

Talk to just about anyone in the contemporary art world these days and mention the name Jaybo and the response you get is always the same… upmost respect and recognition of a true artist. With roots in graffiti, hip hop, commercial art directing, and even street performing, the french born, Berlin based artists has focused his attention for the past decade mostly on painting and sculpture and in doing so has cemented his place in the global contemporary art market. His paintings are expressive and emotional, abstract and figurative, loose and tight, bold and subtle… basically everything you could ever want all combined seamlessly and effortlessly into every piece. His sculptures are simple but extremely smart and even comical at times but somehow still relate perfectly back to his paintings which is surely no easy task. The only thing better than seeing Jaybo’s work in person is watching him paint live, and the only thing better than that is to sit down for an hour and listen to him explain it all, which is exactly what we did recently in his studio on a cold winter day in the Berlin.

    EP 56 – JIMMY C Feb 16, 2016
    Show notes

VantagePoint crosses borders again this week and travels to London where we the boys were graciously invited into the live-in studio of Jimmy C. Known best for his drip paintings which use colored dots of spray paint to create impressionist style portraits, the Austrailian born London based artists talks us through his journey of discovery which brought him to his signature style and what it’s like to live and create art in London.

    EP 055 – EVOCA1 Feb 02, 2016
    Show notes

Evoca 1 is riding the front edge of a strong wave of mural artists at the moment pushing really high level fine art aesthetics in what has traditionally been mostly a more graphic and illustrative art form. Using brushes and acrylic paint for his murals rather than spray cans, Evoca treats his walls no different than his canvas giving them the same level of concideration, attention, and value. His imagery is heavy and charged at times but the delicate and refined nature with which he paints lulls the viewer into enjoying the work while subliminally feeding them his message like a punch to the gut. His studio work is no different and he proves himself time and again to be one of the most talented newcomers in the scene today.

    EP 54 – PUSH STYROCUTS Jan 18, 2016
    Show notes

In a small frigid smokey basement hidden beneath an unassuming building somewhere the legendary St. Pauli district of Hamburg Germany, three mates grind away on materials they “found” in the streets with machines they made by hand. Through toxic fumes of melting Styrofoam and mountains of used sandpaper the collective known only as PUSH create elaborate and beautifully refined sculptures which later find their home in deliberately selected locations around the streets.

    EP 53 – GREG MIKE Jan 05, 2016
    Show notes

Greg Mike is one of those artists who seems to have more hours in his days then the rest of us. Painter, Illustrator, Muralist, Art director… the guy even founded his own agency and gallery called ABV putting on shows and projects around the US giving other artists opportunities to do their thing. His immediately recognizable imagery merges the raw spirit of graffiti with the precision and bold color usage of commercial illustration. Greg Mike’s iconic Loudmouf character with his bugged out eyes and chipped tooth can be found on walls and in galleries around the US and beyond. We sat down with the man inside of his Heineken Mobil Art Lounge amongst utter madness during this years Art Basel Week in Miami. Recorded live on Friday night from the epicenter of the Wynwood Arts District surrounded by thousands of art fans and partygoers, this interview was bound to get crazy.

    EP 50 – FLYING FÖRTRESS Nov 09, 2015
    Show notes

Flying Fortress is a legend in the streets and in Hamburg where he lives, he is considered royalty. Heavily active in the Graffiti game, the street-art game, and the gallery game all at the same time, he has amassed an army of loyal fans and followers over a career that spends decades. His iconic TeddyTrooper is recognizable worldwide and can be found on trains, in murals, in Vinyl toy form, on prints, skate decks, wheat-past, canvases… you name it.
For our milestone 50th episode of VantagePoint, the boys decided to go big and hop the train to Hamburg to track down the elusive Flying Fortress once and for all.

    EP 49 – FIN DAC Oct 25, 2015
    Show notes

His calm, mature demeanor gives the impression of a laid back “go with the flow” kind of guy, but make no mistake, Fin DAC is a man who does things his own way. From his instantly recognizable subject matter and trademark “paint spitting” stencil technique which helped rocket him into the public consciousness a few years back to the way he approaches and manages his career, Fin DAC blazes his own path, actively avoiding the typical model laid out by so many artists before him.

Although technically based in London, Fin DAC spends all of his time on the road. Bouncing from city to city leaving his masked geishas everywhere he goes as if building a global army of beauties for some diabolical secret future plot. As he moves across the globe expanding his reach and perfecting his technique (transitioning away from using stencils), Fin DAC sticks mainly to independent projects rather than jumping on the bandwagon of mural festivals and open rotating wall projects so common these days. With such strong imagery and laser focus, there doesn’t seem to be anything that can slow him down.
