#201 - Breaking down the international windows Oct 15, 2026
    Show notes

The United States Women’s National Team just completed their October international window against Spain, and we begin Episode 201 by recapping how they did during the window.

The USWNT struggled against #1 Spain in their two friendlies, losing 2-0 on Saturday but coming back to draw 2-2 on Tuesday. We look at who did well during the camp, who didn’t, and what the USWNT need to do to improve ahead of the Concacaf W Championship with an eye on qualifying for next summer’s Women’s World Cup. And, we discuss whether there’s a gap between Spain and the United States on the soccer field.

We also discuss the second half of the USMNT’s international window as they completed a 4-0 window with wins over Mexico and Canada. It was a fun window, and some of the young guys stood out with exceptional performances. We go through the roster to see who did well and who really made a name for themselves as they prepare to face Haiti in the Concacaf Nations League quarterfinals.

#200 - The kids make an impact Oct 01, 2026
    Show notes

We’ve done it. Welcome to Episode 200! With the double FIFA international window in full effect for the men and an important window coming up next weekend for the women, this 200th episode dives into the soccer that brought this podcast to life in the first place.

On the men’s side, the USMNT have 2 big wins halfway through the window, with 2 more to go. And, the youth movement was in full display and looks impressive! We discuss some of the players that have made an immediate impact with Concacaf rivals Mexico and Canada coming up.

We also review the rosters for the USWNT and the U-23 WNT as they convene for training camp (this was recorded before the news that Jordynn Dudley was ruled out of U-23 camp due to injury, being replaced by Carina Lageyre). We talk about what Emma Hayes is trying to do by giving 50 players a chance at some playing time on the international level rather than just focusing on the team that will take on Spain in DC and Philly.

Finally, on our 200th episode, we pay tribute to you, the listener. We reflect back on how far we’ve come, and the show hopes to keep moving onward and upward. Thanks to everyone who has listened, shared the pod with someone, or otherwise showed their support. It’s an honor to do this show for you.

#199 - New cycle, new look USMNT Sep 18, 2026
    Show notes

The United States Men’s National Team is back with a double international window, and Mauricio Pochettino is giving the young’ns a chance. On Episode 199, we dive into the USMNT roster ahead of friendlies against Peru, Chile, Mexico, and Canada.

There are 13 uncapped players on the new roster, of which 12 are receiving their first senior MNT call-up. We’re excited about guys like Cavan Sullivan to get their shot. We go through the roster to see who’s in and who’s left at home.

We then get into the news that Noahkai Banks has decided to represent Germany moving forward by accepting a German U-21 national team call-up. Julian Hall, despite being called into the USMNT, is still undecided on whether to pick the U.S. or Poland. We discuss these dual national decisions and what goes into them. They’re difficult ones, and you have to respect their ultimate choice.

    #198 - What could a joint UEFA-Concacaf Nations League look like? Aug 31, 2026
    Show notes

We return with episode 198, and we ask the following: what would a joint UEFA-Concacaf Nations League look like?

With recent reporting that a joint Nations League was being discussed, we take the proposal and run with it. How would the various leagues be divided? More importantly, how will it help the USMNT and the USWNT? First, the men’s tournament is up for discussion, where the USMNT would get a chance to test their mettle against some stiff competition from Europe. It could really help them prepare for World Cup qualifying and the World Cup. But, it would also be intriguing to see some European teams have to travel to the Caribbean or Central America for Nations League matches.

We also look at how the women’s side would shape up, and for the USWNT, it would be business as usual playing matches against some of the best in the world. They would get some fantastic matchups, and it would be intriguing to have those matchups be in a group stage and tournament format. It would also be a massive test for other teams in Concacaf who are trying to improve their teams (or in some cases, reactive them), and it could be a way for some of the smaller teams to develop their women’s programs.

#197 - Poch returns as FIFA burns Aug 12, 2026
    Show notes

We’re back with Episode 197, where we discuss Mauricio Pochettino returning to the USMNT, the schedule for the USMNT and USWNT in September and October, and an update on FIFA’s growing pile of problems.

First off, Poch is back for another World Cup cycle to lead the USMNT. But now that’s he’s signed on for four more years, what needs to happen? What’s next for the USMNT? Poch will have to balance keeping the player pool ready to go while actually playing to win in the upcoming regional tournaments. The expectations are higher now.

We also discuss the September-October window for the USMNT and the October window for the USWNT. The women taking on #1 Spain in two matches is a big test, and the USMNT will get back into the swing of things with four friendlies.

Then, we get into all of the FIFA mess that has plagued the sport over the past couple of weeks, including Gianni Infantino’s attempt to privatize the World Cup and the response from confederations around the world. Infantino’s time should be done because he decided money and power was more important than the soccer.

#196 - Addressing the local soccer discourse Jul 26, 2026
    Show notes

Since the end of the 2026 World Cup, a lot of discourse around the domestic soccer leagues has taken flight. We discuss some of the main points on Episode 196.

Major League Soccer, promotion-relegation, and pay-to-play are buzz words that have taken center stage as we move past the World Cup to try and keep fans interested in soccer to grow support for the game. And like it or not, the domestic leagues are part of that conversation. More importantly, they’re a part of the solution as well. We discuss some of the major points of how supporting local soccer can help gain more soccer fans in this country as we seek to improve our system in a way that works for us. It’s not the full conversation, but a start to the discourse. The nuances of our American soccer system need to be considered, but above all community building needs to be what is centered.

#195 - Seriously evaluating the USMNT performance Jul 16, 2026
    Show notes

The evaluation of the United States Men’s National Team and their performance at the 2026 World Cup continues on Episode 195.

#194 - The USMNT ride is over, but it was a blast Jul 14, 2026
    Show notes

It’s time to finally start talking about it. The United States Men’s National Team is out of the 2026 World Cup after losing in the Round of 16, but we start by discussing the team’s run on Episode 194.

The USMNT’s run may have ended abruptly, but it was a blast. We discuss the 5 games at the World Cup for the USMNT and how the vibes were. We talk about the final game against Belgium and the “distractions” that were present before that match. In the end, a game that felt winnable became a loss because the team didn’t perform.

We then ask the question: was this a success for the USMNT? We discuss how hard it is to win a World Cup and where the team performed in relation to where they should be. There’s still progress that needs to be made, but we opine that the team performed right where they’re supposed to be while still leaving house money on the table.
