Is The Law of Attraction Biblical? Apr 28, 2020
    Show notes
    1. We’re on YouTube!
    2. Do you believe you can attract good or bad things due to your outlook on life or who you keep in your circle? Today we discuss the Law of Attraction as well as God disciplining believers based on what we do.

    Show Notes

Defining Law of Attraction and God's Discipline

    • The idea that there's a spiritual or cosmic force that acts as a catalyst for attracting good or bad things to people based on their outlook, perception or dealings in life.
    • Also, does God allow bad things to happen to you because you're not living or believing a certain way?

    Gnosticism

    • Special spiritual revelation or knowledge (Gnosis) and that by being in tune with this revelation you could obtain enlightenment and salvation from God.
    • This material world, which is flawed is considered evil.
    • Gnosticism can be shored up this way - spiritual good, material bad.
    • Law of Attraction idea is related to this ancient belief. The more you're in tune with the spiritual (which is good), by way of meditation, focus, outlook, etc... you can attract positive spiritual forces. If not, you're left attracting negative things from the material world into your life

God punishing us for not doing X

    • Birthed out of the idea of human achievement and deity appeasement.
    • Goes back to the days of ancient paganism where people would sacrifice to appease angry God.
    • Man has always been tried to make up for the sin of rebellion.
    • Once Jesus came the idea of grace became much more clear but man still clings to the idea of redeeming himself; ie works righteousness.

    Is this even Biblical?

Both ideas are anti-biblical and rub counter to the character and nature of God.

    1. Laws of Attraction assume the Watch Maker idea, that God just set things into motion and everything runs all on its own. That he is not active or involved. This isn't true; hence Abraham.
    2. The idea God is punishing or disrupting lives because they aren't following Him precisely runs counter to what we saw with Job.
    3. Jesus was sinless and took the wrath of God. This runs counter to the Laws of Attraction
    4. And what about the wicked who are living great lives or the righteous who are enduring persecution?
    5. Matthew 5:45 (God blesses the wicked and righteous)

so that you may be children of your Father in heaven. For he causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

    What can we do?

    • Chase after God's heart like David.
    • God is faithful to save each and everyone of us and once Jesus has hold of us, nobody can snatch us out of His hand.
    • He is in control. God will give us all we need to be sustained here on earth while rewarding us with the ultimate prize of eternity in His Kingdom.

Is God Responsible for Pandemics and Calamities? Apr 21, 2020
    Show notes

    God and Judgement

We first need to understand the types of judgement that exist:

    Behavioral Judgement

    1. Satan being kicked out of Heaven
    2. Adam / Eve kicked out of Heaven along with a curse placed over mankind as well as Satan
    3. The great flood

    Eternal Judgement

    Daniel 12:2

Many who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake, some to eternal life, and some to disgrace and eternal contempt. -- Daniel 12:2

    Psalms 9:5

You have rebuked the nations: You have destroyed the wicked; you have erased their name forever and ever. -- Psalms 9:5

    Psalm 81:15

15 Those who hate the Lord would cower to him; their doom would last forever. -- Psalms 81:15

    John 12:48

48 The one who rejects me and doesn’t receive my sayings has this as his judge: The word I have spoken will judge him on the last day. -- John 12:48

    Romans 14:10

10 But you, why do you judge your brother or sister? Or you, why do you despise your brother or sister? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God. -- Romans 14:10

    Jude 1:6-7

6 and the angels who did not keep their own position but abandoned their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains in deep darkness for the judgment on the great day. 7 Likewise, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns committed sexual immorality and perversions, and serve as an example by undergoing the punishment of eternal fire. -- Jude 1:6-7

    Revelation 20:15

15 And anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire -- Revelation 20:15

The wrath of Jesus for the unrepentant on His coming

    2nd Peter 3:10-12

10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief; on that day the heavens will pass away with a loud noise, the elements will burn and be dissolved, and the earth and the works on it will be disclosed. 11 Since all these things are to be dissolved in this way, it is clear what sort of people you should be in holy conduct and godliness 12 as you wait for the day of God and hasten its coming. Because of that day, the heavens will be dissolved with fire and the elements will melt with heat. -- 2 Peter 3:10-12

    2 Thessalonians 1:7-11

7 and to give relief to you who are afflicted, along with us. This will take place at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with his powerful angels, 8 when he takes vengeance with flaming fire on those who don’t know God and on those who don’t obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 9 They will pay the penalty of eternal destruction from the Lord’s presence and from his glorious strength 10 on that day when he comes to be glorified by his saints and to be marveled at by all those who have believed, because our testimony among you was believed. 11 -- 2 Thessalonians 1:7-11

    Revelation 22:12-13

12“Look, I am coming soon, and my reward is with me to repay each person according to his work. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end. -- Revelation 22:12-13

    Revelation 19:11-16

11 Then I saw heaven opened, and there was a white horse. Its rider is called Faithful and True, and with justice he judges and makes war. 12 His eyes were like a fiery flame, and many crowns were on his head. He had a name written that no one knows except himself. 13 He wore a robe dipped in blood, and his name is called the Word of God. 14 The armies that were in heaven followed him on white horses, wearing pure white linen. 15 A sharp sword came from his mouth, so that he might strike the nations with it. He will rule them with an iron rod. He will also trample the winepress of the fierce anger of God, the Almighty. 16 And he has a name written on his robe and on his thigh: King of Kings and Lord of Lords. -- Revelation 19:11-16

    Judgement of Abandonment

    Revelation 22:10-15

10 Then he said to me, “Don’t seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, because the time is near. 11 Let the unrighteous go on in unrighteousness; let the filthy still be filthy; let the righteous go on in righteousness; let the holy still be holy.”

12“Look, I am coming soon, and my reward is with me to repay each person according to his work. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.

14“Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and may enter the city by the gates. 15 Outside are the dogs, the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood. -- Revelation 22:10-15

    Romans 1:24

24 Therefore God delivered them over in the desires of their hearts to sexual impurity, so that their bodies were degraded among themselves. -- Romans 1:24

    Romans 1:26

26 For this reason God delivered them over to disgraceful passions.....-- Romans 1:26

    Romans 1:28

28 And because they did not think it worthwhile to acknowledge God, God delivered them over to a corrupt mind so that they do what is not right. -- Romans 1:28

Why would God bring wrath upon the righteous?

    Genesis 18:24-26

24 What if there are fifty righteous people in the city? Will you really sweep it away instead of sparing the place for the sake of the fifty righteous people who are in it? 25 You could not possibly do such a thing: to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. You could not possibly do that! Won’t the Judge of the whole earth do what is just? ” 26 The Lord said, “If I find fifty righteous people in the city of Sodom, I will spare the whole place for their sake.” -- Genesis 18:24-26

    Romans 6:15-19

15 What then? Should we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? Absolutely not! 16 Don’t you know that if you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of that one you obey — either of sin leading to death or of obedience leading to righteousness? 17 But thank God that, although you used to be slaves of sin, you obeyed from the heart that pattern of teaching to which you were handed over, 18 and having been set free from sin, you became enslaved to righteousness. 1 -- Romans 6:15-19

The earth is fallen and it's our fault

    • The grief we experience in this world isn't because of God; it is because of us.

Coronavirus - Exposing All of Humanity Apr 02, 2020
    Show notes

We're living in an unprecedented moment. For all of the medical and technological advancements we've made as a human race, we're faced with a threat that is leaving many in the world on edge and in fear.

    Coronavirus is exposing humanity

Three things that we should think about in the midst of this pandemic

    1. Life for all humans is now valuable
    2. The level of hatred human can possess is unconscionable
    3. The media is trying to manipulate the country

All Human Life has become instantaneously valuable

The utopian desire for life - at any expense including murdering children in the womb - has now been replaced with people going all out for self.

Romans 3:10 - The heart of man

10 as it is written: There is no one righteous, not even one. 11 There is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. 12 All have turned away; all alike have become worthless. There is no one who does what is good, not even one. 13 Their throat is an open grave; they deceive with their tongues. Vipers’ venom is under their lips. 14 Their mouth is full of cursing and bitterness. 15 Their feet are swift to shed blood; 16 ruin and wretchedness are in their paths, 17 and the path of peace they have not known. 18 There is no fear of God before their eyes.

Luke 17:26-37 - Days of Noah and the Son of Man

26 “Just as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be in the days of the Son of Man: 27 People went on eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage until the day Noah boarded the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. 28 It will be the same as it was in the days of Lot: People went on eating, drinking, buying, selling, planting, building. 29 But on the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained from heaven and destroyed them all. 30 It will be like that on the day the Son of Man is revealed. 31 On that day, a man on the housetop, whose belongings are in the house, must not come down to get them. Likewise the man who is in the field must not turn back. 32 Remember Lot’s wife! 33 Whoever tries to make his life secure will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it. 34 I tell you, on that night two will be in one bed; one will be taken and the other will be left. 35 Two women will be grinding grain together; one will be taken and the other left.” 37 “Where, Lord? ” they asked him. He said to them,“Where the corpse is, there also the vultures will be gathered.”

    Narratives and lies

    • David Wright from ABC and media manipulation
    • Washington Post Article → Why we should be wary of an aggressive government response to coronavirus(Harsh measures tend to scapegoat already marginalized populations)
    • Senator Chuck Schumer hiding his Twitter tweets.
    • NBC News White House Correspondent Kristen Welker exchanges w/ President and is called out.

Joe Biden (Jan. 31) @ at Rally in Iowa

The American people need a president who they can trust what he says about it (referring to the Coronavirus); that he is going to act rationally about it. In moments like this, this is where credibility of a president is most needed as he explains what we should and should not do. This is no time for Donald Trumps record of 'hysteria and xenophobia and fear mongering..."

Dr. Fauci (March 30)(Director of the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases)

"One of the things we did right was very early cut off travel from China to the United States. Because outside of China, where it originated, the countries in the world who have it are through travel."

Watch what yo mouth! - Matthew 7:2

2 For you will be judged by the same standard with which you judge others, and you will be measured by the same measure you use. -- Matthew 7:2

    What can we do?

    Matthew 6:25

Therefore I tell you: Don’t worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Consider the birds of the sky: They don’t sow or reap or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you worth more than they? 27 Can any of you add one moment to his life span by worrying? 28 And why do you worry about clothes? Observe how the wildflowers of the field grow: They don’t labor or spin thread. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was adorned like one of these. 30 If that’s how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and thrown into the furnace tomorrow, won’t he do much more for you — you of little faith? 31 So don’t worry, saying, ‘What will we eat? ’ or ‘What will we drink? ’ or ‘What will we wear? ’ 32 For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you. 34 Therefore don’t worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

    Death Nov 30, 2019
    Show notes

Today we're going to cover something that a lot of people wrestle with and that is the topic of death. Starting at the beginning with the creation story we'll build up a proper perspective of life and death.

Genesis 1:1 - The Beginning of Life

    • God exercises the establishment of life within the universe through the 6 day creation event. (Genesis 1:1-2)
    • God gives Adam the tree of life to eat from (Genesis 2:8-9) and gives him autonomy to eat from it (Genesis 2:16-17)
    • God does NOT command them to refrain from eating from the Tree of Life until Adam and Eve are kicked out of Eden. (Genesis 3:22)
    • What we see is God creating and acting as the arbiter of ALL life.
    • We see God emphasizing His desire for life eternal with Him. This was the initial setup. And it was good. He even warns Adam to abstain from disobedience to avoid death; breaking the relationship of eternal life with God in the Garden.
    • God is a God of life, not death.
    • God sent Jesus (the way, the truth, the life - John 14:6) to save and reconcile us back to Him after the fall to express His desire for life eternal with humanity.

    The point (Life is Primary)

    • Life eternal is our primary way of existing.
    • No one really dies.
    • Life isn’t temporary, it is only temporary on this earth.
    • The Bible doesn't teach annihilationism; it teaches the eternality of the soul.

    The Wicked and Eternity

    • Matthew 8:12, Matthew 22:13-14, Jude 1:5-6, Jude 1:7, Revelation 20:10, Revelation 20:14-15
    • The wicked will spend eternity in darkness and also the lake of fire.
    • When we talk about darkness and the lake of fire we see these are eternal places.

    The Righteous and Eternity

    • (2 Corinthians 5:6-8, Philippians 3:20)
    • The permanent residence for the believer is the kingdom of God.
    • Everyone goes through the first death, which is more like sleep, and is the physical death of the body (Daniel 12:2, 1 Thessalonians 4:15).
    • Jesus raised people from the dead.

    How Should We Live

    • Philippians 1:21-24, Philippians 1:21, Philippians 1:27-30
    • Life should not and is not about how we die. Our focus should not be on death. Christ solved that already.
    • Paul recognized it was better to die and be with Jesus, leaving the fallenness of this world and his flesh behind.
    • Live our lives worthy of the Gospel of Christ. Christ died for us. Let us not make a mockery of His great sacrifice.
    • We all give an account (Romans 14:11-12).
    • Our desire must be perfect relationship with God in Heaven, but let us commit ourselves to the duties God has given us while we have time.

Did Jesus Come for the Lost Sheep? Oct 02, 2019

But is this true? Are you breaking the law for worshipping on Sunday? Should Christians even keep the Sabbath? Let's find out.
