    Upbringing

We’re Hannah & Kelty of Upbringing- twins, certified parent coaches + speakers who help caregivers across the globe transcend daily conflict with their kids for sanity + social change.

Most of us had no idea what magical mindset + sensitive skill set would be required to successfully navigate daily drama with our beloved, infuriating kids… No shame in that! From meltdowns to aggression to sibling rivalry to putting down the screen or getting out the door fully dressed + on time, managing kids’ big feelings + challenging behaviors was never meant to be done solo, let alone perfectly.

We’re here to teach you creative, research-based ways to overcome daily obstacles with your sensitive + strong-willed kids, nurturing critical skills like consent, compassion, curiosity + creativity along the way. Our podcast episodes are Live, unscripted Q&As– reach out if you have a question or challenge you’d like us to discuss!

Learning to parent our kids with more connection and less control can feel radical and even impossible at first- we get it. We invite you to explore our shame-free, research-based offerings, each designed to help you heal yourself, nurture your kids + transform our collective future for the better.

CONVO: Gretchen Jones, weird specialty // intuition, failure and alignment Jan 21, 2019
    Show notes

Gretchen Jones, intuitive business advisor and sartorial inspiration connects with us about:

    • The power of “leaning in” as an active practice of listening for messages and opening doors for yourself that were there all along.
    • The ways in which we become powerful through personal expression as we embrace and embody what FEELS GOOD.
    • The similarities between bringing a child or bringing creative work into the world.
    • How living with intention is about choosing active, mindful living over passive, reactive living.
    • Why alignment is the opposite of “choking” our dreams into existence
    • That letting go of our egos can be the difference between gratitude and struggle
    • How asking WHY can create a life that is more effortless than effort-full.
    • Intuition (trust) vs. instinct (fear).
    • Why there is no failure, only feedback.
    • The power of analyzing our attachments to certain outcomes in our lives.
    • Why intentional dissociation is valuable: less as a survival tactic, more as a magical tool.
    • The critical responsibility all creatives and parents face as participants in society.
    • Why we should be asking ourselves questions that challenge our way of doing things!
    • How raising fluid, flexible, intuitive, critical-thinking children is the key to a kinder, looser, easier, collaborative world.

Stick around at the end of the conversation for our After Show, where we twintalk our favorite moments and reflect from a parenting perspective!

    We banter all about:

    · Our desire to separate our genius (or lack thereof) from our sense of self and worth
    · The super power that is the “arrogance of belonging”
    · A way to think of parenting as a devotional path to stay true to
    · How to embrace the grand paradox of our work being both everything and nothing
    · Looking at your lot in life as a tasty shit sandwich
    · The ways in which we can meet our destiny with good cheer and curiosity instead of martyrdom
    · The ever-powerful reminder to fucking LIGHTEN UP. Seriously. Or not seriously, rather.
