NIL's impact on high school eligibility; recruiting sleeping giants & CFB villains Mar 18, 2022
    Show notes

Your inquisitive minds were the perfect setup for a 'Dear Andy & Ari' podcast, as a host of fantastic questions landed in the guys' mailbags this week. In the case of the $8M recruit, how does NIL affect his high school football eligibility? The guys examine which states prohibit and permit high school student-athletes to monetize their name, image, and likeness. Which collegiate programs are recruiting sleeping giants? The pair determine which universities are more motivated, now more than ever, to land big-named prospects. Are there any villains in today's college football? If so, who is it, or who are they? Lastly, The Andy Staples Show Realty Associates are here to help P5 programs land their dream homes.

The pair canvass the bracket's regions; False Motivation Region, the Cliche-Because-It’s-True Region, the Code Words Region, and the Jokes About Schools Region, and discuss key cliche matchups. Plus, Gators wear jean shorts, Stars Matter, and a family atmosphere leads the guys into some fun conversations.

The 8 million dollar CFB recruit Mar 15, 2022
    Show notes

Opendorse co-founder Blake Lawrence joins Andy to discuss the rapidly changing world of name, image and likeness deals for college athletes. Blake talks about the deal a class of 2023 football player just signed that could pay up to $8 million over four years and the "collectives" springing up to fund such deals. Is that a wise investment? Should the player have sold all of his NIL rights?

Blake also explains how a player in this week's NCAA Tournament could cash in on instant fame. Blake also explains that depending on what state the player's school is in, that cashing in may have to wait a few days -- which could be a recruiting advantage for other schools.

Blake founded his company after graduating from Nebraska, where he played linebacker on some very good teams. What defensive tackle played in front of him? Ndamukong Suh. Blake explains how a great defensive tackle like Suh is a linebacker's best friend, and Andy suggests those NIL collectives throw their money at the larger humans.
