Shallow Grave: The Murder of Amy St. Laurent Feb 21, 2024

Show notes

In this episode, Kelly recounts the chilling story of Amy St. Laurent, a young woman who vanished in 2001 after a night out. Amy's determination for a fulfilling life was evident until her abrupt disappearance following a night spent with Eric Rubright in Portland, post her breakup with boyfriend Richard.
Eric's dubious actions and testimony caught police attention, prompting Jeffrey Gorman, another person present that evening, to disclose crucial details under peer influence. Gorman corroborated Eric's version of events, intensifying the search for Amy despite inconclusive polygraph results, leaving her family in anguish.
Kelly covers the unsettling events surrounding Amy's vanishing, implicating Russ - who offered Amy a ride from a discomforting party - as a prime suspect. Russ's evasive demeanor, refusal of a polygraph, and inconsistencies in his roommates' statements unveiled a harrowing narrative involving assault, drugging, and a fatal shooting. Russ's erratic behavior, confession to his mother, subsequent arrest, and a 60-year prison sentence ultimately served justice, despite his mother's efforts to retract her statement, emphasizing the tragic injustice Amy endured.
