    Show notes

As Ashley and Taryne take a much-needed holiday break, we'd like to revisit one of our favorite UA episodes of all time. From all of us on Team UA, Happy Holidays!

To say that there are gray areas in life is perhaps one of the greatest understatements of all time. Today's episode explores those gray areas, specifically the ones labelled "Friend-Zone" and "Ex-Zone". Whatever zone you or someone you know may fall into, this episode has some rock-solid info to help you navigate a wide variety of tricky relationship terrain.

Quick Disclaimer: this episode touches upon the subject of suicide. If you or anyone you know may need help in this area, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline number is: 1-800-273-8255

Sabotage Snooping & Flirting Faux Pas Dec 20, 2021
    Show notes

Relationships are like maps. There are roads, shortcuts, and most importantly: boundaries. Today's episode is all about those boundaries. First, we cover the always perilous arena of labeling a relationship, with all the dangers that accompany that occasionally self-sabotaging task. Second, we talk about the pitfalls that arise when boundaries are loose and lead to some mischievous flirting. In both scenarios, it's the existence of undefined and/or confusing boundaries that can lead to misunderstandings, hurt feelings, and sometimes even utter and absolute catastrophe.

When "No" is a Sentence Nov 29, 2021
    Show notes

We all, with zero exceptions, feel pressure. Whether that pressure is from friends who constantly need a shoulder to cry on, or from a new job where you desperately want to impress your boss, it's an absolute must that we find ways to mitigate that pressure and construct clear boundaries. It doesn't matter if it's regarding a roommate or your boss Carol, there are times when a simple "No" is not just a word, but a sentence.

Boldness in Love, Boldness in Life Nov 22, 2021
    Show notes

When it comes to so many situations in life, it is human nature to let that little voice inside you fill your brain with self-doubt. It could be a trip halfway around the world for college, or the simple act of encountering growing pains from the evolution of a long-term relationship. In most cases, it takes boldness and confidence to not just face the challenge head-on, but to simply admit that it's a challenge in the first place. That, dear listeners, is the bold step one must take.

What Is a Lie, but Truth in Masquerade? Nov 15, 2021

This week, we tackle lies, friends, COVID, and dating. (not necessarily in that order) From an awkward situation in a fading friendship to an abrupt end to a relationship, sometimes lies can hurt just as much as the truth.

Women, Men, Children, Cats, Dogs, & Dating Nov 08, 2021
    Show notes

When it comes to some people's relationships, occasionally things come easy. For the other 99.9% of us, however, things can get a tad complex. This week, we cover two stories that while very different, both lead to the same inevitable place: relationships are friggin' hard. It's hard to find them, it's hard to maintain them, and it's hard to get over them. Hopefully, this episode will make those endeavors just a wee bit easier.

    Milestones, Mourning, & Mindfulness Nov 01, 2021
    Show notes

While we all take a moment to fondly remember the 2021 edition of our October Series, we are officially back to our regular stories and we couldn't be more excited! On today's episode, our first story is about overcoming loss and reluctantly settling into a "new normal", while the second story is about celebrating oneself and making efficient use of that much-maligned "me time" between dating spurts. In both, we see that while change is oftentimes dark and unsettling, things can and will return to a base level of happiness and joy. You just have to slowly but surely work towards it.
