Only one block away from her house, a man gets out of his car nearby and asks her to help him pick up something, and as she reaches down, the little girl suddenly vanishes from Vallejo. 3 days go by, until Midsi gathers her strength to escape one of California’s most dangerous serial killers. " On the New Year’s eve of 1989, 11 years old Collier Landry wakes up to a loud thud coming from his parents' bedroom, and it becomes the night his mother Noreen disappears forever. All of his family seem to have no doubts that she ran away after a fight with her husband, but only Collier knows that his mom would never leave him behind. As Dr John Boyle refuses to discuss his wife’s disappearance, detective David Messmore builds a secret bond with the child who insists his mom was murdered. Together, they discover Dr. Boyle’s hidden girlfriend and an astonishing secret buried under the doctor’s new mansion’s floor.

"Something's wrong with dad" Houston, Texas, 1986: 14YO Laurie Tremblay is murdered. The case goes cold, and years pass with more bodies discovered, without any clues on who the killer is. Meanwhile, young Tiffany Shore moves in with her dad after her parent's divorce. She starts to realize he is not as fun as she remembered. More and more controlling, he makes a habit of locking his daughters inside the house when he leaves. As his behaviour becomes increasingly strange and overprotective, the Tourniquet Killer claims more victims: surviving her dad’s sudden rages will actually be the key to solving the terrifying serial killer case.

“Do what I say or I’ll kill you and be gone in the dark” It’s just before 6:30 AM on October 5th, 1976 when young mother Jane Carson is blindfolded and attacked with her 3YO son in the house. She is victim #5. 2 months later, 15 YO Kris Pedretti stops playing piano, thinking she heard something in the other room, despite being alone in her house. She is victim #10. A year later, true crime fan Margaret Wardlow studies this serial killer, not knowing that she would become the 27th victim of the man she had read so much about. He's been known under many different names: the Visalia ransacker, the East Area Rapist, the Original Night Stalker or the Golden State Killer, but 44 years later, 200 witnesses stand in front of him to make sure justice is served.

“I just know it, there’s something wrong with my kids” -- On November 11th 2010, cops enter Tina Hermann’s home after receiving a 911 call from her manager Valerie, who reported how unusual it was for her to miss a day’s work without telling anyone. Held captive in a small room in his house, her kidnapper brings back the food with a nasty smile: she knows that this could be her last dinner before he “gets rid of her tonight.” The memory of watching CSI with her brother flashes back to her mind — she is determined to fight until the last moment, so she grabs the pizza box, and becomes her own detective.

You’re on your way home and suddenly, your phone buzzes. Everyone around you looks down at their screen, and you know it is now everywhere: on your social media feed, on TV, even on traffic boards. You don’t pay much attention to all of it but still skim through the description while walking, just in case. When you finally look up from your screen, a weirdly familiar car catches your eye and you call 911. A kidnapped child has been saved thanks to the alert on your phone. This story is not uncommon, and it all started in Texas, in 1996 with the unsolved murder of 9 year old Amber Hagerman.
