Point Pleasant (Revisited) Jul 27, 2022
    Show notes

"Have no fear. We come from a country that is not nearly as powerful as yours. We mean you no harm."
Throughout 1966 and 1967, weird encounters were reported all throughout the region of West Virginia surrounding Point Pleasant. These ranged from sightings of bright lights in the sky to more direct encounters with strange beings.
Journalists attempted to make sense of the endless barrage of sightings, which seemed to draw closer and closer to Point Pleasant throughout 1967. But when it all culminated in the collapse of the town's Silver Bridge in December of that year, resulting in 46 deaths, people began to question if what they had seen was a dark omen...
This episode is brought to you by "THE MOTHMAN TAPES," a found-footage horror movie made by myself and my friends over at 1289 Films (who have previously produced such films as "The Acid King" and "Homecoming"). With this film, we are hoping to mix together the strange accounts from Point Pleasant, West Virginia with a missing person crime saga to make a truly scary and immersive film experience.

    Ray Gricar Jul 10, 2022
    Show notes

"The state police used a helicopter to search for two hours along the banks of the Susquehanna River, near where his car was found, for any signs.... Investigators also used a bloodhound to try to pick up his scent, to no avail."
On 15 April 2005, Ray Gricar called into his office and took a half-day off of work. The 59-year-old Ohio native worked as the District Attorney for Pennsylvania's Centre County, and despite having plenty to do that Friday, nobody thought twice about the esteemed prosecutor taking time off of work, as he had been complaining of fatigue for weeks.
That evening, Ray would fail to contact his girlfriend, Patty Fornicola, who he lived and worked with. She called 911 at approximately 11:30 PM, resulting in a desperate search for any sign of Ray or his vehicle...

    Trevor Deely Jun 26, 2022
    Show notes

"Hi, Glen, I've missed you there. Just on my way home, all going good. I'll talk to you tomorrow."
In the early morning hours of 8 December 2000, Trevor Deely was walking back to his flat in Dublin's Ballsbridge neighborhood after attending an office Christmas party.
CCTV footage would capture 22-year-old Trevor briefly stopping by his workplace - the Bank of Ireland Asset Management building along Leeson Street - and then again a short time later near the Baggot Street Bridge. However, in both pieces of footage, a suspicious man in dark clothing can be seen; in the last bit of footage, he appears to be following Trevor...

    Lenoria Jones Jun 19, 2022
    Show notes

"It's a difficult case. You've got no crime scene, no body, no witnesses. You basically have nothing but the hope somebody is going to talk."
At approximately 9:40 AM on the morning of 20 July 1995, 45-year-old Berlean Williams called 911. In a rather-unaffected voice, she told the dispatcher that her niece and adopted daughter, 3-year-old Lenoria Jones, was missing, having disappeared from a Target in the Hilltop neighborhood of Tacoma, Washington.
Despite searching the surrounding area for several hours, police were unable to locate any trace of the missing girl. As you'd expect, they'd begin to question the woman who'd reported the girl missing, but this would only create more questions than answers...

The Careaga Family (Update) Jun 07, 2022
    Show notes

There has been an update in the story of the Careaga family (episode #207 from just a few weeks ago). Yesterday, on 6 June 2022, authorities announced the arrest of three men associated with the Bandidos Motorcycle Club, charging them with the murders of Johnny Careaga, Christale Carreaga, Johnathan Higgins, and Hunter Schaap...

Danielle Imbo & Richard Petrone Jr. Jun 05, 2022
    Show notes

"Tips throughout time have indicated logically that this is not a kidnapping case. We're looking very closely at a murder-for-hire scenario."
On the evening of 19 February 2005, Danielle Imbo and Richard Petrone Jr. met up with some friends along Philadelphia's South Street. There, at a bar called Abilene, they hung out for a bit and watched a live band, then reportedly left in a good mood at about 11:45 PM.
The following morning, no trace of either Danielle nor Richard could be found. Attempts to find them, as well as Richard's 2001 Dodge Dakota, have proven unsuccessful over the years. While there is no evidence pointing to their current whereabouts - nor their continued existence following the night of their disappearance - the FBI publicly suspected that the two had been targeted for a hit...

The Careaga Family May 22, 2022
    Show notes

"I'm dying right now. My family's shot. Hurry."
On the evening of 27 January 2017, dispatchers in Kitsap County, Washington received a 911 call from 16-year-old Hunter Schaap. In the call, which lasted less than a minute, the teen pleaded with authorities to rush to the scene.
By the time authorities arrived, the home that Hunter lived in with his family was engulfed in flame. After extinguishing the blaze, a search of the house found three bodies inside and evidence of multiple gunshots outside. Missing entirely from the scene was Hunter's father, Johnny Careaga, whose truck had also disappeared...

The Pennsylvania Serial Bomber? May 15, 2022
    Show notes

"We remain committed to keeping the community safe and urge the public if they see these devices on the street or see them being sold to call 911."
On 4 October 2019, an explosion rocked a home on Market Street in Clearfield, Pennsylvania, a small town of not-quite 6,000 residents. A woman, 34-year-old Shanna Carlson, was killed in the blast and ensuing fire. The cause was an unidentified explosive device, which exploded with such force that Shanna had to be identified by a tattoo on her leg.
While looking into that story (of which, sadly, not much information can be found) we ended up coming upon a far wider-reaching and more terrifying story: a potential serial bomber terrorizing families throughout Pennsylvania...

The Long Island Serial Killer (Update) May 15, 2022
    Show notes

There has been an update in the story of Shannan Gilbert, the woman whose disappearance led to the discovery of the Long Island Serial Killer victims (episodes #14-16 from 2016). Authorities in Suffolk County have finally released the audio from Shannan's 911 call(s) on the night of her disappearance, which they have fought tooth-and-nail against releasing for the better part of a decade, fearing that it would impact their ongoing LISK investigation... while also claiming in the same breath that Shannan's death had nothing to do with this unidentified serial killer.
