In this week’s episode, we chat with Liz Minnella about how the Democrats need to invest in and build a digital strategy, as well as focus on the class war instead of the culture war.
Liz is a mom of two toddlers, an advocate, fundraiser and Instagram demfluencer. She gained an audience on Instagram following the Fourth of July shooting in Highland Park by posting short actionable steps for fellow activists to take to advance gun violence prevention legislation and she helped lead the grassroots push to pass the IL Assault Weapons Ban. During the 2024 election cycle, she hit her stride organizing and activating everyday people to use their power and influence to make change. She founded Chicago Women for Harris and co-organized and MCd White Women: Answer the call, which broke Zoom with over 200,000 viewers. She served as the Finance Co-chair of Women for Harris and raised tens of millions of dollars for the Harris campaign. She held weekly Women Wednesdays for Harris Zoom calls and organized door knocking trips across the battleground states. Her work was featured in a front page article in the New York Times and on CNN in the days following the election. She is now continuing to champion progressive candidates and organizations at the local and national level and hopes to continue to expand the left’s online ecosystem to combat extremism and the spread of radicalizing misinformation.

In this episode, we sit down with Allie Phillips, a 29-year-old mother, advocate and Tennessee native who recently ran for the TN State House. She walks us through her tragic abortion story and how her experience led her to run for state legislature. Her priorities include ensuring that other women in Tennessee did not have to go through the experience she did and can access health care, improving the quality of public education, & working for common sense gun safety laws. Allie testified in front of the US Senate & was invited to the White House’s Women’s History Month Conference by President Joe Biden.
Though she lost her state race with just over 45% of the vote, as a first time candidate Allie knows how important it is to keep the fight moving forward. Her story is compelling, heartbreaking and inspiring. Everyone that hears her story leaves feeling empowered to make change. She is determined to continue to share her story and educate others on the dangers of these bans while inspiring them to take part in the progress of our future.

In episode 49, we sit down with two members of PUSH for Empowered Pregnancy, Allie Felker and Ana Lepe Vick. These ladies share their personal stories of losing their babies to stillbirth, how this can happen to anyone, and what drove them to join PUSH to raise awareness and fight for change.
We also discuss two very important Federal Bills that would help prevent stillbirths. We need you to call your Representatives and ask them to support the Stillbirth Health Improvement and Education (SHINE) for Autumn Act and the Maternal and Child Health Stillbirth Prevention Act (SPA) (there is more information on each below).
Ana Lepe Vick is a maternal health advocate and stillbirth rights activist who grew up in the Bay Area and is a recent North Carolina transplant. She and Joshua, her husband of 16 years, are parents to 3 beautiful children (one no longer in their arms, but always in their hearts). Her traumatic experience with two miscarriages and her middle son, Owen Nathaniel's, unexpected stillbirth at delivery in 2015, called her to join the fight to end preventable stillbirths. As the Co-Director of Communications for PUSH for Empowered Pregnancy and Count the Kicks' Latinx Advisor, she is on the frontline of the movement to push for systemic change and save babies in memory of her son and all babies gone too soon.
Allie Felker is a California native and a mother to three. She is a self-proclaimed loudmouth and high school debate nerd. Allie enjoys public speaking and actually met her husband by giving a TEDx talk! Despite being in the middle of a pandemic, her first pregnancy was perfect. As a healthy 28-year-old she never dreamed something could go wrong, especially after surpassing that daunting 13-week mark. But at nearly 32 weeks Allie was blindsided to learn that her son Henry Justice Felker (Hank) had died in her womb and would be stillborn. Allie has found peace through advocacy and enjoys using her voice as a way to parent Hank. She has two living children, Octavia Victory (Tavie) and Maximus Valor (Max) who are advocates in training.
PUSH For Empowered Pregnancy
PUSH for Empowered Pregnancy is on a mission to end preventable stillbirth, and we're not taking no for an answer. 65 babies are dying in the second half of pregnancy every single day in the US. This is unacceptable and it's beyond time for change.
PUSH for Empowered Pregnancy exists for one reason, and one reason alone: to kickstart the pace of change in the US using big, bold, innovative action to save as many babies' lives as possible, as quickly as possible.

When it comes to the American political landscape, have you felt like your voice isn’t represented? Have you been upset about what’s happening around you but don’t know how to get involved? Have you disengaged because you’ve felt defeated or helpless? If you’ve answered yes to any of those questions, then you’re in the right place.
For years we’ve felt this way too. There were times we’ve wanted so badly to get involved and make an impact or drive change but didn’t know how, and there were times we felt so helpless we just disengaged and tried to shut it all out. We have not heard our voices, as women or as kind, empathetic humans, represented in our government or in the media. We have not been able to have conversations at family gatherings or with friends and loved ones because our politics have become so divisive. We want to change that.
As two midwestern women from Ohio, who have not spent their time engaged in politics or involved in our government, but rather in corporate America, we knew we had to start with educating ourselves, and we want to bring you along on our journey.
We are here to create a safe, kind community for women to learn alongside us about the workings of our government and the biggest issues facing our country. We want to ensure women have their voice heard in politics. We are here to create a platform where that can happen, and we are here to inspire and empower women to do just that. We believe we must play a role in solving the issues facing our communities, cities, states, and our country. I mean after all; we are 51% of the country’s population!
We believe this can happen by bringing human connection, kindness, empathy, and an open mind to the conversations about and surrounding American politics. How? Well, we have a few ideas…
By continually educating ourselves on issues and the workings of the United States government. By sharing our research and education with this community to bring other women along on this journey. By having other women as guests on the podcast to share their knowledge and experiences. By using our leadership aptitude and experiences to build a community where diverse individuals with different backgrounds and beliefs can come together and connect as human beings. Ultimately, by ensuring we, as humans, can have difficult conversations and we, as women, are educated, empowered, and involved to solve our nation’s greatest problems.
And don’t worry… we’ll have a little fun along the way. Sit back, crack open a beer because you know we will, and enjoy listening to our wonderful voices. I mean, our educational journey together, as United SHE Stands.
We hope you’ll join us.
