    I’ll be honest, I had some reservations about sharing this story.

    I interviewed Dylan, the person who’s experience this tale is based on, back in the summer. I was intrigued by what he told me…but I was a bit uneasy after that interview. I didn’t know really what to think about it. We can chat more about that after you give it a listen.

    Also, it took me some time to write this story for you all. I hope it scares you...you know in the best way possible. It certainly freaked me out.

    I’m just going to get right to it. Before I do, I’d like it to be noted that the names in this story have been changed.

    And it’s a little different from any other episode I’ve done.

    For one, instead of just one story, you’re going to get two. Also, by the end of each story I don’t think you’re going to be scared. I hope not, since that isn’t my intention…for this episode at least.

    The Boy in the Board Feb 17, 2019

    This episode has been in the making for quite some time. Last season I interviewed a woman named, Kristen, who had a terrifying experience as a child while taking swimming lessons at an old hotel.

    The story is called “Tanya” and is ep. 8 of season 1 in case you missed. It’s a good one and there are a lot of evidence from other guests of this hotel who claim that a little ghost girl still roams the halls to this day.

    Not long after the episode aired, Kristen’s mother, Kathy, sent me an email saying that she had her own paranormal encounter from when she was a teenager that she’d like to share. I interviewed her and knew that it was a story I had to tell.

    When Kathy was 14 years old she convinced her family to let her stay home alone while they went on a camping trip. But after two long dog days of summer, Kathy was yearning for some company...especially from Boy…her friend who lived in her Ouija Board. What happened that night was just as unexpected as it was terrifying and would be the end of their unique friendship.

    Terrifying nightmares, where the dead man paces through Trevor’s bedroom…night after night. Trevor believes that he must be suffering from trauma over witnessing the man’s death…but is that it? Or was there another reason for the nightly visits in the dark?

    If you’ve listened to episode 1, Nanny’s Bear, you’ll know that I started the podcast with a story based on my very own first paranormal experience. When I was outlining the rest of the season, I thought it be fitting to end with another personal paranormal story.


    Especially since this experience happened while I was with Eileen and Emily.


    As mentioned before, Eileen is Unearthly editor and sound effect maverick while her wife, Emily is responsible for the art work for each episode and logo. How lucky am I to have such creative friends?


    It’s not lost on me that I wouldn’t have been able to put this podcast out if it wasn’t for them, so yes, I felt it was very fitting to share this story. Plus, it’s scary as shit, guys!

    A few months, a dear friend of mine sent me his paranormal story. Now normally people will either tell me or send me a summary of their experiences, I interview them, and then I set off to write.


    But that’s not how this episode came to be. You see, my friend (who wishes to remain anonymous) is a fine writer in his own right. After reading his story, I realized that he had done the writing for me. I wanted to make this clear because as a writer I have a lot of intrgity for the craft and would never want any to take responsibility for a piece that wasn’t my own. So, I hope you enjoy my friend’s tale. I know I did.

    When a group of teenagers are left alone in a house situated in a county rich of Civil War history, they decide to have some innocent fun with a homemade Ouija Board. The older boys believe that they are responsible for moving the makeshift planchette, until something that none of the can explain, takes over, leaving them with an experience that they have never forgotten.


    So, sit back, try to relax as you remember that this Ghost Story, is based on true events.

    When Kristen is 4 years old her parents sign her up for swim lessons at a nearby hotel. She loves the lessons…until one night, as she and her father are leaving, something terrifies her so badly that her fear is the only thing she can remember from that evening.


    Years later when Kristen is a teenager she learns about a well known haunting of a little girl who checked into the hotel…but who has never checked out.

    After a break up, Amy moves into a apartment and has mixed emotions about living on her own for the first time. However, as time goes on she starts to enjoy her new home…until the middle of the night phone calls begin to disrupt her sleep. As time continues, other strange occurrences take place that make her suspect that someone, or rather something, is stalking her.

    When Amy seeks the advice from the woman who lives next to her, she isn’t ready to accept what the neighbor lady has to says until one night when she is force to admit that some things are not of this world. It should be noted that this experience takes place in the mid-nineties…when cell phones weren’t common for most people.

    Ep06 - Glass Mar 17, 2018

    This paranormal story was shared with me by someone that I’ll refer to as B.     Ep04 - Phantom Man Feb 16, 2018

    I wasn’t planning on doing a valentine’s day special, but after interviewing Regina and hearing her paranormal experience, I knew that this story was the perfect one for this week. I think you’ll understand why by the end of this episode.


    Regina is thrilled to move into her boyfriend’s house. Even if the home is old, a bit run down and kinda spooky. But she isn’t afraid. She falls in love with the house, and feels right at home. Even if it is haunted by a man who enjoys her company a little too much. It isn’t long before Regina and the spirit strike an unusual secret relationship. When the spirit makes his feelings known, Regina realizes that even in death, some things, never change.


    Although, Regina was eager to share her story with me, she asked that her name, and the name of her boyfriend (who’s now her husband) be changed to protect their privacy.

    Ep03 - The Green Creature Feb 02, 2018

    Welcome to Ep. 3 of Unearthly. A podcast dedicated to paranormal stories based on true events.


    This story is a little different. It’s three different events experienced by one person that occurred at separate times, yet the experiences appear to be connected.


    When our protagonist awakes from a summer slumber he is repulsed by a smell that he can’t ignore. The smell, however, is the least of his worries when he sees a green orb in the corner of the room… What it morphs into is something that the teenager will never forget.

    Years later, when he is visiting his girlfriend, he smells something familiar. The allure of the smell and beckoning of the entity is nearly too much for his to ignore.


    Tonight’s paranormal tale was shared by Brian. Some of the aspects of this story may seem a bit far-fetched which he is aware of. But during the interview I was struck by his sincerity while telling me about this haunting. Despite the strangeness of this event I have no doubt that he and his family were absolutely tormented by something unearthly.

    Ep02 – The Cold Basement Jan 19, 2018

    When 13-year-old Michelle is invited to an older friend’s slumber party, she is thrilled to be included. Arriving to the party she is surprised to learn that the girls will be sleeping in the spooky cold dark basement. Throughout the evening she’s plague with the feeling of being watched, and a chill she can’t shake. When the girls play truth or dare, Michelle has to decide what she is willing to do in order to fit in.


    Tonight’s episode is a paranormal tale wrapped with friendship complications, the growing up, and a loss of innocence.

    It questions if a room can hold memories, feelings and burdens. It wonders if some are more sensitive to paranormal experiences than others. It reminds of us all of how easy it is to disregard our gut feeling when we so desperately want to belong.

    Tonight’s story was shared by Michelle, and since it’s not one that she tells openly or frequently, I was touched that she so candid with her experience.
