Does the story of evolution match the story of Genesis? Niamh Middleton and Andrew Parker Oct 18, 2019

Show notes

The first two chapters of Genesis are among the most contested in the Bible when it comes to evolution and faith. Justin is joined by a Christian and agnostic who both claim to show a significant overlap between the Genesis account and evolutionary history,

Theologian Niamh Middleton, author of ‘Homo Lapsus: Sin, evolution and the God who is love’, says that Biblical account of human creation and fall maps onto what we know of the evolutionary record.

Agnostic scientist Andrew Parker, author of ‘The Genesis Enigma: Why the Bible is scientifically accurate’ says that the stages of the 6-day creation account in Genesis also map onto the stages of development of life on the earth.

Has the church misunderstood St Paul? Steve Chalke vs Phil Moore Oct 11, 2019

Show notes

Church leader Steve Chalke isn’t afraid of causing controversy in the evangelical circles he once moved in. His new book ‘The Lost Message of Paul’ claims that the church has misunderstood the theology of St Paul when it comes to faith, hell and Christian universalism.

In a feisty exchange, pastor Phil Moore says that it’s Steve who has misinterpreted Paul’s thinking as they debate which books the apostle wrote, the nature of salvation and whether Steve accurately represents the views of scholars such as NT Wright.
