CLEVELAND BROWNS or BALTIMORE RAVENS: Which team has the REAL #1 defense in the NFL? Nov 09, 2023

Show notes

This Sunday's AFC North showdown between the Cleveland Browns & Baltimore Ravens has more than just divisional playoff implications on the line.

This is a matchup of the two best defenses in the NFL, and this week will once and for all settle which unit is better.

Depending on the metric you look at, you can make a case that either defense has not just been the best this year, but historically good. Today, we'll go through the players, the positions and the numbers to make our case for why one of these two awesome units is better than the other.

The Browns will be tasked with slowing down Lamar Jackson and the Ravens run game. Baltimore has a stable of backs, but is Lamar really the scariest part of that rushing attack?

Tyvis played with Denzel Ward at Ohio State, and he's here to explain to us why Ward is having the best pro season of his career. Spoiler alert: it's the Jim Schwartz effect.

Plus, some no fence riders for the upcoming Ravens game AND a 2-pack of elite guests.

How about Aditi Kinkhabwala at 11:30 and Bernie Kosar at 12:30? No one gets Cleveland like we do.

BEHIND THE GLASS: Does Deshaun Watson have to be great & do the Browns NEED to beat the Ravens to prove they're worthy Nov 09, 2023

Show notes

Deshaun Watson is coming off a 2-touchdown performance over the Arizona Cardinals, a game where he seemingly knocked off the rust as the game went on. Deshaun Watson makes elite QB money and so far in his short Browns career the play has not matched the money. Does Deshaun Watson need to be great against Baltimore to prove his worth?

The Cleveland Browns & Baltimore Ravens are two of the top teams in the AFC, but the two sides are looked at very different by the national media.

The Ravens are viewed as one of the best teams in the NFL while the Browns are looked at as "frauds" until proven otherwise.

Do the Browns need to beat the Ravens to catapult themselves into the top tier of the NFL ranks?

Do the Browns need Deshaun Watson to "ball out" to beat Baltimore, or can the defense hold its own and win with simple, complimentary football?

The Cleveland Cavaliers start a road trip tonight against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Is this the time to "get right" for the young Cavs team, or will the offensive struggles continue?

Plus, behind the scenes stories from your favorite Cleveland YouTube show.

Is Browns WR Amari Cooper a top 10 WR in the NFL this season | UCSS panel debate Nov 08, 2023

Show notes

It's a marquee matchup of generational talents at QB this Sunday when Deshaun Watson & Lamar Jackson take the field for a massive AFC North showdown between the Cleveland Browns & Baltimore Ravens.

Lamar might be the front runner for MVP right now, while DW4 is coming off an impressive performance against Arizona in which he threw 2 TDs and didn't turn the ball over. In his last two "healthy" starts, Watson has put up some pretty insane numbers.

Heading into this weekend's game, is there a big gap between these two QBs? Is it a small gap? Or is there no gap at all?

Amari Cooper has put up numbers for the Browns all season long, despite the inconsistent play at QB. This season, has Amari been a top 10 NFL wide receiver?

Can the Browns run the ball against the stout Ravens rush defense? If not, is DW4 ready to put the team on his back and carry them to a win?

Plus, Leroy Hoard joins the show to discuss the big win over the Cardinals, and share some stories about his time playing AFC North rivals.

Browns will be without Jed Wills Jr. for at least four weeks | What will Andrew Berry do now? Nov 07, 2023

Show notes

We've all had our fair share of gripes about Cleveland Browns LT Jed Wills over the last two seasons, and rightfully so.

But the former Alabama product had been playing his best football of his career lately before suffering a MCL injury against Arizona that head coach Kevin Stefanski said will sideline him for 4-6 weeks.

What does that mean for the rest of the offensive line in charge of protecting Deshaun Watson? Does James Hudson slide in to LT in his absence? Does Dawand Jones move to LT midseason, with Hudson filling in at RT? Does Joel Bitonio slide out to LT, Pocic to LG and Nick Harris to C? Does Andrew Berry have to go out and sign a FA tackle off the streets?

The Browns have dealt with a number of injuries this season but losing their starting LT before Baltimore & Pittsburgh feels especially cruel.

Deshaun Watson threw for 219 yards and 2 TDs against Arizona in his return from injury, but that wasn't enough for some Browns fans. Is there anything DW4 can do to win over a portion of this fan base, or will there always be a line drawn in the sand between Watson supporters and haters?

Mary Kay Cabot joins the show to preview this weekend's massive AFC North showdown between the Browns and the Baltimore Ravens.

Plus, we grade the PFF graders who were extra kind to the Browns for their trashing of the Cardinals on Sunday.

Lastly -- Stephen Vogt is the new manager of the Cleveland Guardians, just one year after retiring from playing in the majors. Is there any other sport that can have a player that closely removed from the game step into a coaching position? Was going young at manager the right move for the Guardians?

Did Kevin Stefanski coach his best game of the season for the Browns in the 27-0 BLOWOUT of the Arizona? Nov 06, 2023

Show notes

The main questions leading up to the Week 9 matchup between the Cleveland Browns & Arizona Cardinals were all about Deshaun Watson's injured right shoulder.

Watson hadn't played a full game since Week 3, but he answered a lot of questions on Sunday with his performance, as he threw for 219 yards and 2 TDs in the win.

DW4 needed those game reps before Baltimore and he certainly look advantage.

Defensively, the Browns set a new season record for fewest yards allowed in a game, breaking the previous record that they held from Week 3 vs. Tennessee. The Cardinals only managed 58 TOTAL yards of offense, nearly 250 fewer than the team's season average.

Myles Garrett, Dalvin Tomlinson, Za'Darius Smith & company had 7 sacks on rookie Clayton Tune, who was making his first career start. Tune also threw two interceptions and lost a fumble in the game.

It was as bad as it sounds for the Cardinals offense, and as good a defensive performance as you'll ever see by Denzel Ward & company.

On special teams, James Proshe provided a spark in the punt return game and Corey Bojorquez continued his excellent season punting wise. Dustin Hopkins missed a FG attempt but hey, he's still been mostly money this year.

All in all... it's a massive W for the Browns over the lowly Cards to improve to 5-3 on the season, setting up a massive AFC North showdown with Baltimore on Sunday.

CLEVELAND BROWNS VS. ARIZONA CARDINALS INSTANT REACTION: Deshaun Watson is BACK; defense DOMINATES Nov 05, 2023

Show notes

Deshaun Watson took the field with the rest of the Cleveland Browns starters as the team hosted the Arizona Cardinals in a Week 9 matchup.

Watson hadn't played a full game since Week 3, when he suffered a right shoulder injury.

Watson struggled early on, missing a few easy throws, but connected with Amari Cooper on a deep ball for 59 yards than led to the first points of the game. Watson then connected with Cooper again for a touchdown on a deflected pass that bounced off a defensive tackle's helmet & into Cooper's arms for the score.

Dustin Hopkins added 2 field goals in the first half, as the Browns took a 13-0 lead into the locker room.

For Arizona, rookie Clayton Tune had absolutely nothing going for them as the Browns defense dominated early.

Myles Garrett, Shelby Harris, Dalvin Tomlinson & Jordan Elliott all made significant contributions and held the Cardinals to less than 50 total yards.

The Browns offense doesn't have to be great to win with this caliber of defensive play against a pedestrian offense like Arizona's.

Kevin Stefanski has also leaned on the running game heavily in the first half as he works with Watson and his receivers to find their groove.

In the second half, the defensive dominance continued. Arizona could not do anything -- literally anything -- against the group.

Watson had some highs and lows, but his deep ball connection with Cooper continued to dazzle. The two connected on 3 perfectly placed deep passes to carve up the Cardinals defense.

Kareem Hunt also rushed for another TD - the 4th straight game with a rushing TD for him - the longest streak in the league.

The Browns led 27-0 with 8 minutes to play.

PICKS & PREDICTIONS: Will Deshaun Watson lead the Cleveland Browns to a WIN over the Cardinals? Nov 03, 2023

Show notes

It's Friday morning and we still do not know if Deshaun Watson or PJ Walker will be QB1 on Sunday for the Cleveland Browns against the Arizona Cardinals.

The Cardinals have not announced a starting QB either - meaning Jim Schwartz & Myles Garrett could be facing Kyler Murray or Clayton Tune.

Neither team naming a starting QB by Friday morning is rare, and makes planning a TV show very difficult.

But we're answering this question for you today: does it matter who is at QB for the Browns, or should this be a win regardless of the signal caller?

Tim Couch joins the program to discuss the difficulty of preparing 2 QBs to play in the same game.

Jim Schwartz and the Browns defense has been stellar this year for three quarters of the game, but in the first quarter, it's been anything but that. The Browns are allowing the most first quarter points per game in the league.

Is that an anomaly or something Schwartz and company can fix?

Plus, McNuggets has his 5 stats you need to know for Arizona, including why Mo Hurst deserves more love and why Kevin Stefanski can't get out of his own way.

And as we do on every Friday - we head over to WKYC for the final 30 minutes of the show!
