One half of UFC 265's main event, and a world-record holding adventurist, join Jim and Matt as today's guests on UFC Unfiltered!

First, adventurer and extreme athlete Ash Dykes joins Jim and Matt to discuss all of his wild treks and journeys, from nearly dying from heat stroke while hiking across Madagascar to being the first person to travel the entire length of the nearly 4,000 mile Yangtze River in Asia. He also talks about his time training and competing in Muay Thai while living in Thailand and explains the difference in mentality between fighting and extreme athletics.

He shares why he's not afraid of Lewis 'playing possum' during the fight, offers his take on the controversy surrounding the interim Heavyweight title, and gushes over his love of video games to Matt's delight.

Finally, Jim and Matt close the show recapping all the action from UFC Fight Night: Hall vs Strickland, including Sean Strickland's dominant win over Uriah Hall in the main event and Cheyanne Buys' performance of the night-winning TKO against Gloria de Paula in the co-main event.

Cheyanne Buys and Sean Strickland Jul 29, 2021
    Show notes

We have two fighters on this weekend's card, UFC Fight Night: Hall vs Strickland, on today's episode of UFC Unfiltered!

First, Jim and Matt are joined by Cheyanne Buys ahead of her bout against Gloria de Paula on Saturday's main card. She tells stories about starting her martial arts journey at four years old, going to jail after beating up a group of bullying cheerleaders in school, her husband and UFC fighter JP Buys convincing her to give him a chance after initially rejecting him, living in Africa, making her UFC debut on the same card her husband made his UFC debut and making public her dispute between her former manager after he tried to take advantage of her financially.

Then, Sean Strickland closes the show before facing off against Uriah Hall in this weekend's main event fight. After Sean tells Jim and Matt what he wishes Matt had done to former coach Joshua Fabia in their viral confrontation on Fight Island, he opens up about the dark paths he may have taken in his life had he not discovered mixed martial arts, tells the story of the time he had a shotgun pointed at his face, and shares what really happened between him and BJJ world champion Orlando Sanchez in their viral training spat.

Maycee Barber and Jackass' Chris Pontius Jul 27, 2021
    Show notes

On today’s episode of UFC Unfiltered, Jim and Matt chat with Maycee Barber fresh off her victory Saturday night at UFC on ESPN: Sandhagen vs Dillashaw and Jackass star Chris Pontius. They also recap all the action from Saturday night, Matt shares a few stories and does a Matt’s Movie Minute (sort of).

Jackass member Chris Pontius kicks off today's show. He reminisces about some of the craziest moments in Jackass history, from the origin of his famous Party Guy character to one of the newest members of the Jackass crew, Poopies, getting his hand bitten off by a shark for their Shark Week special. He also reveals a Jackass bit with martial arts legend Gene LeBell that never made it to air and tells the story of being shown UFC 2 when he was a kid training in muay thai and how he has been a fan since!

Then, Maycee Barber joins the show after her win against Miranda Maverick at UFC Fight Night: Sandhagen vs Dillashaw. She reveals the backstory to her coach and UFC legend Urijah Faber's seemingly obvious corner advice, discusses why she called out Jessica Eye in her post-fight interview, and argues why she's confident the judges made the right decision by awarding her the win.

Jim and Matt close out the show recapping all the excitement from UFC Fight Night: Sandhagen vs Dillashaw, including TJ Dillashaw's stunning victory over top contender Cory Sandhagen after a two-year absence, Raulian Paiva and Kyler Phillips' fight of the night performance in the co-main event, and Darren Elkins' TKO victory over Darrick Minner.

    Show notes

Happy birthday to the one and only Jim Norton -- hear Matt sing to him on today's episode of UFC Unfiltered!

After Matt serenades Jim for his birthday, comedian Mike Glazer joins the show. He and Matt become fast friends based on a particular smokey interest they both are very fond of. Glazer talks to Matt about some of his big wins during his UFC career, commiserates with Jim about returning to stand-up now that quarantine restrictions have been lifted, and shares how he first became a fan of the UFC watching fights like Ken Shamrock vs Royce Gracie with his dad. He also talks about being a Pan American Roller Hockey Champion, his training in bamboo stick fighting and marijuana.

Then, our pal Billy Quarantillo joins the show fresh off his third round TKO win against Gabriel Benitez at UFC Fight Night: Makhachev vs Moises. He clears up what really happened during a key moment between rounds in his fight with Benitez, shares how his recent eye surgery has impacted his confidence in the Octagon, and reveals who he really wants his next opponent to be, and when he wants to compete.

Jim and Matt close the show by going over the rest of Saturday's card, including Islam Makhachev's dominant 4th round submission victory against Thiago Moises, Mateusz Gamrot's kimura submission against Jeremy Stephens, and Miesha Tate's TKO victory in her first fight in nearly five years against Marion Reneau.

Jim and Matt open today's show discussing the official announcement of Nick Diaz's return against Robbie Lawler in a five-round bout at UFC 266.

Then, former UFC Women's Bantamweight champion Miesha Tate joins the show. She makes clear that her return against Marion Reneau in Saturday's UFC on ESPN: Makhachev vs. Moises co-main event is not a one-off, discusses how having children has impacted her mentality towards fighting, and shares why jumping into fight camp after nearly five years off was like riding a bicycle.

After Jim makes fun of the way he said 'buh-bye' to Miesha Tate and Matt asks about Jim's return to stand-up, Islam Makhachev joins the show ahead of his main event bout this Saturday at UFC on ESPN: Makhachev vs. Moises from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. He details how much weight he still has to cut by weigh-ins on Friday, invites Matt to Dagestan to train, discusses why Dagestan produces such great wrestlers and details what his motivation (much like Khabib’s) is for becoming a UFC Champion.

The guys kick off the show discussing how their first hug since the pandemic went, and whether or not Matt was able to keep Jim's couch clean while watching UFC 264 for the latest episode of UFC Watch Party.

Then, coach and friend of the show Ray Longo calls in to discuss the fights from Saturday night with Jim and Matt. UFC 264 Preview: Tai Tuivasa and Dricus du Plessis Jul 08, 2021
    Show notes

It's the last episode of UFC Unfiltered before UFC 264, which is headlined by the highly anticipated trilogy fight between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor!

First, Jim and Matt are joined by Dricus Du Plessis ahead of his fight against Trevin Giles at UFC 264 this Saturday. He discusses how he's managed to never go the distance in any of his 17 pro fights, reveals why his visa issues turned out to be a blessing in disguise, and talks about his goal of becoming a UFC Champion.

“Did we just become best friends”? Matt and Dricus bond from the jump about spikey hair, respecting each others careers and sharing a very similar taste in television and movies.

Then, Tai Tuivasa calls in before his bout with Greg Hardy on the main card of UFC 264 this weekend. Tai breaks the news to Matt that he does, in fact, partake in one of Matts favorite adult activities occasionally, shares why he's comfortable doing shoey's again, and offers his take on the news of Ciryl Gane and Derrick Lewis competing for the interim Heavyweight belt in August.

Tai also responds to opponent Greg Hardy stating he is going to “break his face”, in a very Tai Tuivasa way, “I was going to punch your face, now I am going to punch it harder”!

Finally, the conversation gets muddy as to what exactly OnlyFans is, who and why people are using the app, and what audience Tai and Matt would attract if they setup OnlyFans accounts.

Jim and Matt close out the show with their picks for UFC 264 taking place this Saturday. They make their predictions for all the main card matchups, including Sean O'Malley against UFC newcomer Kris Moutinho, the Welterweight showdown between Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson and Gilbert Burns, and of course, Dustin Poirier against Conor McGregor.
