Cultivating Confidence, feat. Peter Atwater Dec 28, 2023
    Show notes

With the Enneagram, what we do is not as important as why we do the things we do. This also applies to confidence. Behavioral economics pioneer, internationally sought-after consultant, and professor of confidence-driven decision-making Peter Atwater explains, "The 'why' to me is all related to our feelings of certainty and control because when I boil down what confidence is it's knowing what's coming and feeling like we are prepared for it."

Today, we explore what confidence is and how to cultivate confidence….We dig into Peter's new book and go over his confidence quadrant framework, which includes the stress center, comfort zone, passenger seat, and the launchpad. It's a tool you can use to not only understand yourself better but to understand those around you better. This is a rich conversation and you're going to want to grab this book, The Confidence Map: Charting a Path from Chaos to Clarity.

Four Distinct Ways We're All Created to Hear God, feat. Havilah Cunnington (Type 7) [S07-022] Dec 14, 2023
    Show notes

How do you discern what God is saying? The Enneagram teaches us that we're not all the same person. It allows us to be unique and have unique experiences. So, what if the key to hearing Him is understanding the distinct way he speaks to you?

Today's guest, pastor and author Havilah Cunnington reminds us we can't assume that God speaks to us all in the same way. "I think that's really important in life, to be different, to have a uniqueness, to understand that God doesn't interact with all of His kids the same way. Just like I have four boys. I don't interact with [them] in the same way," explains Havilah. "Understanding how He speaks to you gives us a starting point. It allows us to at least recognize where we might be so we can actually go deeper and build a better relationship and interaction with Him."

In this episode, we dive into her intriguing insights from her latest book, discussing the nuances of discerning divine guidance and how to harness one's unique spiritual personality for a deeper, more meaningful relationship with God.

We also explore how Havilah's Enneagram type energizes her approach to spiritual leadership and her passion for helping others recognize and listen to God's voice in their lives.

If you've ever felt lost because you never felt that you could hear the voice of God in your life, this episode could help you discover His unique way of communicating with you.

    ABOUT HAVILAH CUNNINGTON

Havilah Cunnington has had a remarkable journey of over twenty years in full-time ministry and as the female pastor at Bethel Church, her experience spans from guiding spiritual growth in individuals to leading a nonprofit, and her podcast, Truth to Table. "I didn't have that definitive moment where I crossed from boyhood to manhood because no one ever declared me a man. No one ever told me that," explains Brian. "It's not an age thing. It's not what kind of truck or Prius you drive. It's an attitude and a certain approach to life."

We explore his willingness to embrace vulnerability and live purposefully as part of this approach. It's a passionate conversation that sparks the question, "How would you characterize your understanding of manhood?"

    Show notes

Each of us manage stress differently, but understanding our pressure points and automatic reactions allows us to consciously change the way we respond. When we understand the triggers of others, we can compassionately support them as well. In Part 3 of our 3-part series, Anthony and I focus on the unique ways Enneagram 7s, 8s, and 9s experience and manage stress. We explore:

    • How Type 7s cope with the frustration of restrictions and the struggle to stay engaged when their freedom to choose feels limited.
    • The journey of Type 8s in embracing vulnerability as a strength, learning that sharing emotions is not a sign of weakness but a brave act of courage.
    • Ways Type 9s can rise above their natural inclination towards passivity by finding a voice for their needs and desires, ensuring self-care is as much a priority as caring for others.
We offer practical tips to mitigate self-defeating behaviors and remain emotionally balanced when life's circumstances get tense. Listen to the full episode here, and please, share it with anyone who might be grappling with stress or burnout—it might be just what they need. How Enneagram Types 1-3 Can Mitigate Stress Nov 02, 2023
    Show notes

There's a lot going on in the world right now and we're all feeling different types of pressures. Each of us handle stress in different ways, and if we're not careful, we can let our unhealthy behaviors take the lead. So, how do we work through seasons of stress to become the best, most helpful, most loving and compassionate expression of ourselves. I believe the Enneagram can help.

It's not a cure-all, but the Enneagram recognizes and takes into account the fluid nature of the personality, which is constantly adapting as circumstances change. There are times when your personality is in a healthy space, times when it's in an average space, and times when it's downright nuts. We all teeter on the continuum between healthy and unhealthy multiple times per day.

But when we take the time to recognize our triggers and automatic reactions, we're able to stop, pivot and intentionally change our response.

In this 3-part series, Anthony and I cover how each Enneagram Type typically deals with stress and offer practical tips to mitigate self-defeating behaviors and remain emotionally balanced. Today, we tackle Enneagram types One, Two, and Three.

How to Process Grief Based on Your Enneagram Type [S01-015] Oct 26, 2023
    Show notes

Grief is not something you do. It's something you go through. All of us experience different types of grief and each of us grieve in different ways. But if we allow grief to consume us, if we don't grow through grief, it locks us in the past and keeps us stuck. The recent loss of my mother has been an invitation for me to reflect on the ways I process my own grief. So today, Anthony and I wanted to bring this topic to you and offer some useful insights on how each Enneagram type expresses grief and what they need in that season so you can love, care for, and serve that type better in periods of grief.

Tune in then share this episode with your friends, family and coworkers so they too can learn how to support others well based on what they need.
