Child trafficking is so prevalent, yet not talked about nearly enough. Victims are unknowingly pulled into this in a variety of ways. Alexa makes us aware of some of the ways that victims are targeted, and how to prevent being a victim of trafficking.

40% of families report that porn is an issue in their home.
87% of Christian women have watched porn.
68% of church-going men admit to viewing porn on a regular basis.
These are actual statistics and if they shock you, then you are probably in the minority.
Pornography is scientifically proven to affect the brain and can actually change brain chemistry. Porn addiction is a real problem in our society and even in our churches! It is the central issue in as many as 56% of divorces.
We sat down with Pastor Scott Tinman, a youth pastor, to have a conversation about pornography and how it affects us. If you have a problem with pornography, there is help!\\

This episode is not just for women or couples who are grieving an abortion, but it is also for the church. Often, those who are silently suffering post-abortion are filled with shame, regret, and pain. They don't necessarily want anyone to know about their past for fear of rejection or judgment.
Toni Brubaker is the Executive Director at Heartbeat Hope Medical Pregnancy Center. Toni and her staff provide a confidential post-abortive recovery program that is offered in a group or individual setting. They walk participants through the healing process. Toni has also been the woman in the church pew carrying the guilt and shame of abortion.

Laurie Turnow is the Executive Director of the Women's Resource Center (WRC) of Hancock County. In her 21 years at WRC, Laurie has listened to and counseled many women considering abortion.
In this episode, Laurie shares some lies that women are told, and believe, about abortion.
Abortion can have a lifelong impact not only on the mother and baby but also on others who are involved. Contrary to some statistics that are out there, most women carry the guilt and shame of abortion with them throughout their lives.

I'm joined by my pastor, Blair Hayward, as we discuss a topic that is probably more relevant than it has been in a while: Fear.
Pastor Blair provides insight into what the Bible says about fear, and offers three important reminders from Scripture about navigating through these sobering times:
1. Overcoming Fear with Faith (Joshua 1:1-9)
2. Overcoming Panic with Prayer (Philippians 4:6-7)
3. Overcoming Worry with Worship (Matthew 6:25-34 & Matthew 6:9-13, The Lord's Prayer)

#012 - COVID-19, Coronavirus: To Fear or Not To Fear? Mar 15, 2020

In just a short time, lives around the world have been changed drastically as a result of COVID-19, or Coronavirus. In the U.S., schools are closed, the stock market had record losses, countless employees are either working from home or told not to report to work, groceries have been stripped from the shelves, and transportation is coming to a halt. Even churches are closing their doors on Sunday and opting for live-streaming services.
We are quickly reminded that the things we thought were secure just days ago are now ever-changing. Our normal lives are now anxiety-ridden and fear is around every corner. What is coming and what should we do about it?
I've been reading and watching online advice from some of my favorite pastors, Rick Warren, Max Lucado, and Greg Laurie. They have given some great insight into our dilemma and I wanted to share a recap with you all to provide some encouragement and hope.

#011 - Lowell MacGregor | Finding Hope in Addiction Mar 09, 2020

Lowell MacGregor is a well-respected concert promoter with 40 years of experience in the music industry. From Pearl Jam to Tony Hawk, Lowell has proven to be an expert in the field.
But Lowell's story hasn't been easy or trouble-free. Growing up was challenging, to say the least. At 17, he was given the opportunity to start a career behind-the-scenes in the music industry. Alcohol became a central part of his life; then drugs.
His life was, as he prayed, "hell on earth" and he cried out to God. In 2000, he met Taylor Hanes, who helped turn his life around.
In 2018, Lowell purchased a 6,500 square foot “Castle” built by ex-boxer and bootlegger Phil Polsky. The home was used to host lavish parties, boxing matches and wild affairs of various sorts during prohibition. This mansion is now home to Taylor Made Retreat, a place where those desiring recovery from drugs or alcohol can seek fellowship, spiritual awakening and receive a fresh design on life through the 12 steps.
Just hours before a Casting Crowns & Matthew West concert in Wheeling, WV, I met Lowell and told him I wanted to hear his story sometime. I also invited him to join me on Behind the Mike: Conversations of Hope. His reply was, "Let's do it! How about right now?"
He is passionate about using the tools God gave him during his years of struggle with addiction to help others.

#010 - Billy Foote | “World Burning Down" Mar 02, 2020

Billy & Cindy Foote have written worship songs that have been played around the world. You may be familiar with their songs, "Sing to the King", "You Are God Alone (Not a God)", "You Are My King (Amazing Love)", and "Rescue the Perishing".
I was joined by Billy for this episode as we discussed his new album "World Burning Down". This album is stylistically different than the previous worship albums. This singer/songwriter project is worshipful in the sense that it comes from a man after God’s own heart holding in high esteem God’s Word and unchanging character.
Billy stopped leading many years ago due to a neurological disorder called hyper dysphonia - a progressive condition that causes his vocal cords to spasm. But Billy knew the message of these songs needed to be offered in his own voice. He wrote the songs with his limited vocal range in mind and came to see the rawness and warbles of his voice as a perfect fit for the work God was doing through him in this endeavor.
