Sheila Denton EXONERATED After 15 Years and The Trial of David Wesley Prevatte Oct 09, 2026

Sheila Denton spent more than 15 years in prison for a murder she did not commit. Now, after more than two decades of fighting for justice, she has finally been exonerated.

In 2006, Denton was convicted of murdering 73-year-old Eugene Garner in Waycross, Georgia. The prosecution's case relied heavily on controversial bite-mark evidence and testimony from a questionable witness.

Years later, forensic experts determined that the bite-mark analysis used to convict Denton was scientifically unreliable. Her conviction was overturned in 2020, but it wasn't until September 2026 that prosecutors finally dismissed the remaining charges.

In this episode of True Crime Squad, Kristi and Katie examine the murder investigation, the disputed forensic evidence, allegations of police pressure, the wrongful conviction, and the long road to Sheila Denton's exoneration.

Convicted murderer **Tomasz Kosowski returned to a Florida courtroom on October 8, 2026, for his Spencer hearing**, a critical proceeding in determining whether he will receive the death penalty or life imprisonment without parole for the murder of attorney **Steven Cozzi**.

Following Kosowski's conviction for first-degree murder, the case entered its final sentencing proceedings before **Judge Joseph Bulone**.
