Taylor Schabusiness and the horrific murder of Shad Thyrion Aug 03, 2023
Show notes TW – Graphic violence.
Taylor Schabusiness was in a sexual relationship with Shad Thyrion in 2022 in Wisconsin. The two had known each other since high school.
One night in February 2022, the two went into Shad’s mother’s basement and Taylor said she ‘went crazy’. She stranged Shad with metal chains until he died and she then abused his body.
Taylor used kitchen knives to dismember Shad and she then fled the scene.
Shad’s mother went into the basement and stumbled across the horrific site of her son’s head in a bucket.
When police caught up with Taylor, she told them they were “going to have fun trying to find all of the organs as she dismembered the body”.
She also said, “damn the head,” and “I can’t believe I left the head though.”
In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we discuss the horrific murder of Shad Thyrion by Taylor Schabusiness.

Rex Heuermann | The Alleged Long Island Serial Killer Jul 27, 2023
Show notes In 2020, in one of our very early podcasts, we bought you a double episode on the Long Island Serial Killer.
In terms of a background in the case, the Long Island Serial Killings or the Gilgo Beach Killings were a series of murders between 1996 and 2011 in which the remains of up to 18 people were found in Gilgo Beach, on the South Shore of Long Island. Most of the known victims were sex workers who advertised on Craigslist.
On July 13, 2023, Rex Heuermann was arrested and charged with three of these murders. It is thought that more charges are to come. Rex was not on anybody’s radar in relation to this case. He was living a seemingly normal, suburban life in Massapequa Park, New York, living with his family and working as an architect.
Police have spent days searching Rex’s home and have been seen emerging with creepy dolls and pornography. It is also believed that Rex had a large vault in the basement of his home.
In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we discuss the arrest of Rex Heuermann and the Long Island Serial Killings.

Rudy Farias | Alive after "vanishing" for 8 years Jul 20, 2023
Show notes Rudy Farias was 17 when he vanished in Houston in 2015. He was last seen walking his two dogs – the animals returned home and he did not.
Over the years, Rudy’s family gave multiple media interviews and conducted fundraising in an effort to find him. Rudy’s mother Janie even flew to California to visit a John Doe in a hospital at one point, who authorities thought may have been Rudy. When she found the male was not her son, she collapsed and had to be hospitalized herself.
On June 29, 2023, a man resembling Rudy was found injured and unable to communicate on the steps of a Houston church. Somehow, Rudy’s family were notified and were on the scene before law enforcement. They made many social media posts announcing that their beloved son had been found alive after eight years! What a miracle!
Except their story quickly unravelled. It turns out that Rudy actually returned two days after he went missing in 2015 and he had been home this entire time. There are now allegations of abuse and sexual assault against Rudy’s mother, Janie.
In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we discuss the wild case of ‘missing man’ Rudy Farias.
We also discuss a quick overview of the recent Island Serial Killer updates.

Pattie left her accommodation on April 9 to resume her hike. When she didn't arrive at her next stop later that day as planned, the alarm was raised. Local authorities in Japan started looking for Pattie, but her family was not notified of the situation until April 14.

Listen Now: Suspect "Five Shots in the Dark" Jun 26, 2023
Show notes Leon Benson spent more than half of his life, a total of 24 years, in an Indiana state prison for a murder he didn't commit. Despite the lack of physical evidence and a questionable eyewitness identification, he was convicted. But new realities start to come to light when attorney Lara Bazelon takes up his case and is determined to secure Benson's release.
Season three of Suspect, co-produced by Campside Media and Wondery, delves into the flaws in the criminal justice system that led to Benson's wrongful conviction for the 1998 shooting of Kasey Schoen in Indianapolis. The investigation aims to uncover the truth about who really committed the crime and why the eyewitness testimony that led to Benson's conviction was so shaky.
Host Matthew Shaer joins co-producer and writer Bazelon to take a deep dive into the nature of memory and how it can be fallible and result in an innocent man's life being wasted, while the real perpetrator remains unpunished. As the investigation unfolds, will Bazelon and her team gather enough evidence to free Benson? And what will happen to Schoen’s real killer?

The Henryetta Mass Murder-Suicide | Sex Offender Jesse McFadden Jun 15, 2023
Show notes TW – minor sexual assault and murder.
On Monday May 1, 2023, a Missing and Endangered Alert was issued for two missing teens in Oklahoma. Ivy Webster and Brittany Brewer had last been seen at the home of Jesse McFadden, the step-father to their friend Tiffany. Police obtained a search warrant on that day, and when they entered the property, they found seven bodies. Jesse McFadden had killed the two girls as well as his entire family before turning a gun on himself.
Jesse was a sex offender who was due to go back to court on May 1 for soliciting child pornography. He decided that he wasn’t going to do that and he took 6 others out with him.
Police seemed to have decided that an investigation into the murders was not needed. When family members searched Jesse’s property, what was found could be described as a house of horrors.
After a week off, the True Crime Society Podcast is back with the horrifying story of the Henryetta Murders.
