The Thomas Plamberger Case Jul 25, 2026
    Show notes

In January 2025, experienced climber Thomas Plamberger and his girlfriend, 33-year-old Kerstin Gurtner, set out to climb Austria's tallest mountain via the technical Stüdlgrat route. As a winter storm moved in, temperatures dropped below zero and visibility disappeared, but the couple continued climbing despite worsening conditions. Even after a rescue helicopter repeatedly flew overhead, Thomas never signaled that they needed help. Just 50 meters below the summit, Kerstin became too exhausted and disoriented to continue. Thomas later said they agreed he would climb over the summit and descend the easier route while she waited. Prosecutors argued he abandoned her without leaving vital emergency gear, then didn't call for help until he reached a mountain hut hours later. By the time rescuers reached Kerstin the following morning, she had died from exposure. Investigators used GPS data, rescue call records, and witness testimony to challenge Thomas's version of events. The court also heard from an ex-girlfriend who testified that Thomas had abandoned her on the same mountain years earlier. In 2026, he was convicted of grossly negligent manslaughter after the judge ruled that, as the more experienced climber, he had a duty to protect Kerstin and that his decisions contributed to her death. #TrueCrimeRecaps #AlpineDivorce #ThomasPlamberger #KerstinGurtner #MountainTragedy #Hiking

The Ohio House of Horrors Jul 23, 2026
    Show notes

Police in Hamden, Ohio thought they were serving a misdemeanor warrant for indecent exposure when they entered the Siders family home on June 30, 2026. Instead, investigators say they discovered 16 children, ranging from 18 months to 18 years old, living in horrific conditions inside a home filled with garbage, human waste, and overwhelming filth. Authorities allege many of the children were confined to a single 12-by-12-foot room, several were unable to communicate, and nine required emergency medical treatment, with two flown to a children's hospital. Ohio's attorney general described the scene as "pure evil." The investigation revealed Gary Siders Jr. married Elizabeth Russell in 2008 after she became pregnant at just 15 years old. According to her attorney, Elizabeth has given birth to all 16 children found in the home and had been isolated from the outside world since leaving school in the ninth grade. The case has sparked widespread debate over whether she should be viewed solely as one of the accused or also as a victim. Investigators also found the family had spent years moving from county to county, limiting contact with schools, neighbors, and extended relatives before settling in rural Vinton County. Gary Siders Jr., Elizabeth Russell, Gary Siders Sr., and Christina Siders have each been charged with 16 felony counts of child endangerment and have pleaded not guilty. Authorities say additional charges remain possible as the investigation continues. While three defendants remain jailed on $300,000 bond, Gary Siders Sr. was released for medical treatment and will be monitored if discharged. Meanwhile, all 16 children remain in state care as officials work to provide medical treatment, counseling, and long-term support. #TrueCrimeRecaps #GarySidersJr #ElizabethRussell #GarySidersSr #ChristinaSiders #OhioHouseOfHorrors #HamdenOhio #SidersCase

Nolan Wells: Final Hours Jul 21, 2026
    Show notes

Eighteen-year-old Nolan Wells had just graduated from high school, signed to play college football, and spent Fourth of July weekend on Horn Island with friends. According to investigators, everyone returned to the mainland except Nolan. Two days later, his body was found on the island, launching an investigation that has drawn national attention and left his family searching for answers. As detectives worked to piece together Nolan's final hours, conflicting accounts emerged about what happened before he disappeared. A viral video shared by the Wells family's attorney has fuelled widespread speculation online, but investigators have not confirmed whether it is authentic or connected to Nolan's case. Questions also remain about Nolan's phone, the timeline of events, and what happened during his final hours. At the time of this video, authorities say they have found no evidence that a crime was committed and believe Nolan may have drowned, although the investigation remains active. Nolan's family has retained civil rights attorney Ben Crump, requested an independent autopsy, and continues to ask anyone who was on Horn Island that day to come forward with photos or videos that could help investigators. As this is an active and developing case, the information discussed in this video is based on publicly available statements from investigators, attorneys, family members, and news reports available at the time of recording. Some details remain disputed, and new information may emerge as the investigation continues. #TrueCrimeRecaps #NolanWells #HornIsland #Mississippi #Developing

The Katie Janness Case Jul 18, 2026
    Show notes

In July 2021, 40-year-old Katie Janness left her Atlanta apartment for what should have been a routine late-night walk with her dog, Bowie. Security footage captured the pair near the entrance of Piedmont Park just after midnight. Less than an hour later, Katie's partner used Find My iPhone to track her location inside the park, only to discover a horrifying crime scene. Investigators described the attack as exceptionally violent. Katie and Bowie were both killed, yet nothing appeared to have been stolen. The brutality of the crime, the strange details left behind at the scene, and the fact that it occurred in one of Atlanta's busiest public spaces left investigators searching for answers. Despite witness appeals, surveillance reviews, and years of forensic work, no suspect has ever been publicly identified. Now, years later, the case remains active. Detectives and the FBI continue to pursue new leads, including advanced DNA analysis and forensic genealogy techniques. With a reward offered and investigators still working the case, the question remains: who killed Katie Janness and Bowie in Piedmont Park and how did they disappear without a trace?

20 Years After Her Fall They Arrested Her Husband Mid Yoga Class Jul 16, 2026
    Show notes

For nearly twenty years, David Vander Meer insisted his wife Bernadette's death was nothing more than a tragic accident. During what was supposed to be a romantic tenth anniversary trip to Zion National Park, Bernadette plunged from the cliffs of Angels Landing while the two were hiking before sunrise. With little evidence to contradict his account, investigators closed the case, and David collected hundreds of thousands of dollars in life insurance proceeds. Everything changed when former members of David's youth ministry began speaking to investigators years later. Their allegations painted a disturbing picture of grooming, secret relationships with teenage girls, hidden cell phones, suspicious financial activity, and a marriage that was already falling apart before the fatal hike. As detectives reopened the investigation, witnesses described statements and events that prosecutors believed pointed to a carefully concealed homicide rather than a tragic fall. In June 2026, U.S. Marshals arrested David during a yoga class in Las Vegas, charging him with first-degree murder and insurance fraud connected to Bernadette's death. Before he could be extradited to Utah to stand trial, he died by suicide in his jail cell just three days after his arrest, ending the criminal case and leaving Bernadette's family without the courtroom answers they had waited nearly two decades to hear.

The Chilling Six-Minute Phone Call That Convicted Former NFL Scout Blaise Taylor Jul 14, 2026
    Show notes

Former NFL scout Blaise Taylor was living what looked like a dream career until prosecutors accused him of turning a glass of pink lemonade into a murder weapon. They alleged he secretly mixed a lethal dose of cocaine into a drink and served it to his pregnant girlfriend, Jade Benning, who was five months pregnant with their daughter, Ivy. As the poison took effect, Jade managed to call her best friend and left the line open, capturing a horrifying confrontation that would later become one of the most powerful pieces of evidence presented to a jury. Investigators uncovered a troubling history showing Taylor had repeatedly expressed that he did not want to become a father. Witnesses testified he had pressured Jade to have an abortion and even asked a former girlfriend years earlier to secretly slip abortion pills into another pregnant woman's drink. Combined with forensic evidence, toxicology results revealing extraordinarily high cocaine levels, and testimony from medical experts, prosecutors argued the poisoning was carefully planned rather than an accident or overdose. After listening to just over a week of testimony, the jury deliberated for less than two hours before finding Blaise Taylor guilty of the murders of Jade Benning and their unborn daughter, Ivy. The verdict brought an end to a years-long investigation built on forensic science, witness testimony, and Jade's final recorded words. Taylor was sentenced to life in prison and, under Tennessee law, will not be eligible for parole for more than five decades while his attorneys pursue an appeal. #TrueCrimeRecaps #BlaiseTaylor #JadeBenning #BabyIvy #TennesseeTitans

The Grace Ryan Investigation and the Charges Against Her Mother Jul 11, 2026
    Show notes

In March 2026, 16 year old Grace Ryan was found unresponsive inside her Colorado home after months of declining health. Investigators later alleged that her struggle with alcohol had continued for months and that those closest to her were aware of just how serious her condition had become.

As detectives examined text messages, medical records, and evidence collected from the home, prosecutors alleged that Grace’s mother, Gretchen Ryan, had regularly provided alcohol to her daughter despite repeated signs that she needed urgent medical care. Court documents also described conversations in which both mother and daughter acknowledged the severity of Grace’s condition.

The investigation ultimately led to a second degree murder charge against Gretchen Ryan. Prosecutors allege the evidence demonstrates an ongoing pattern of conduct that contributed to Grace’s death. As of this recording, the case remains active, and Gretchen Ryan has not been convicted of the charges against her.

The Grace Ryan case has sparked difficult conversations about parental responsibility, addiction, and when criminal liability may extend beyond a single decision.

The Mercedes Vega Case Jul 09, 2026
    Show notes

Twenty-two-year-old Mercedes Marianna Vega left her Tempe, Arizona apartment for work on the evening of April 16, 2023. Surveillance cameras captured her walking through her apartment parking garage just moments before she disappeared. Hours later, firefighters responding to a burning car along Interstate 10 made a horrifying discovery. According to investigators, Mercedes had been abducted, tortured, and her death became one of Arizona's most disturbing recent homicide investigations. As detectives retraced Mercedes' final hours, they uncovered a connection to an armed robbery three years earlier. Mercedes had identified a suspect and was scheduled to testify in court the very next day. Prosecutors now allege her killing was part of a plan to prevent that testimony, leading investigators through fingerprints, surveillance footage, phone records, and evidence spanning multiple states. The robbery case has since resulted in convictions, while the separate murder case remains ongoing. Prosecutors have charged multiple defendants, all of whom have pleaded not guilty, and the allegations have not yet been tested at trial. As the case continues to develop, investigators and Mercedes' family are still seeking justice for the 22-year-old whose life was cut tragically short.

The Sondresha Koins Case Jul 07, 2026
    Show notes

In March 2003, 23-year-old Sondresha Koins, a new mother on maternity leave, was found murdered inside her home in Germantown, Tennessee. She had given birth just two weeks earlier and was adjusting to life with her newborn daughter. When a co-worker went to check on her after several days of no contact, police discovered Sondresha’s body in the living room while her baby was found alive and crying nearby. There were no signs of forced entry, no clear evidence of theft, and no obvious motive. Investigators initially considered whether the attack could be linked to a string of nearby home invasions, but they later ruled that theory out. From early on, detectives believed Sondresha may have known her killer, possibly letting them inside voluntarily. Despite interviewing over 100 people and working alongside state investigators, the case quickly went cold. Years later, authorities would arrest a suspect tied to unrelated home invasions in the area, but no charges were ever filed in Sondresha’s case. More than 20 years later, her murder remains the only unsolved homicide in Germantown’s history, leaving investigators and her family still searching for answers.

The Most Disturbing Unsolved Mystery at Sea Jul 04, 2026
    Show notes

In 1900, a relief ship arrives at the remote Eilean Mòr lighthouse expecting to find three keepers waiting. Instead, the station is silent, the light is out, and there’s no sign of the men anywhere. As the investigation unfolds, disturbing details emerge: damaged railings, missing equipment, and conflicting clues suggesting something sudden and violent may have happened on the island. But no bodies are ever found, and the official records don’t fully explain what occurred. It's almost like James Ducat, Thomas Marshall, and Donald McArthur had vanished into thin air. For over a century, the world has wondered: Was it a freak "rogue wave" that swept them all away? Did one man snap and take the others with him? Or is there something even darker about the island the locals refused to share?
