Anthony Kirkland Dec 03, 2018

Show notes

Anthony Kirkland is a serial killer who murdered at least 5 in and around the Cincinnati Ohio area over a 20 year period. His number of victims would have almost certainly been higher had he not spent 16 of those years in prison for his first murder.

Join Mike and Gibby as they discuss Kirkland who operated just 45 minutes south of where the hosts live. Kirkland's MO included strangling and burning the bodies of his victims and he never varied. And even though he spent most of his life in prison, he had so many other brushes with the law where he got off easy. This is one of those cases where you have to question whether the justice system failed to protect the public from this type of vicious predator.

Byron David Smith Nov 26, 2018

Show notes

On Thanksgiving Day, 2012, Byron Smith shot and killed two teenagers who broke into his house. He was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam war and a retired US State Dept employee with a spotless record. But Smith was paranoid after his house had been burglarized a number of times. Because of this, he had an audio recorder that captured the shootings.

Join Mike and Gibby as they discuss the killings of 18-year-old Hailee Kifer and 17-year-old Nicholas Brady at the hands of Byron Smith. This case became a lightening rod for the debate about where the line was between defending yourself and your property and murder. Smith's own audio recordings and his subsequent interviews with police became the centerpiece of the State's case against him.

David Alan Westerfield Oct 29, 2018

Show notes

David Alan Westerfield is unlike many killers that we profile on True Crime All The Time. There doesn't seem to be anything in his childhood that would point to the fact that he would become a killer. He didn't have a record. He was successful and many people in his life and around his neighborhood liked him. But, in 2002, he made the decision to murder his 7-year-old neighbor Danielle Van Dam.

Join Mike and Gibby as they discuss this tragic case. What makes a man who seemingly led a decent life turn to murder not long before his 50th birthday? And why would he target a young girl that lived just two doors down from him. But we know that behind closed doors are not always what they appear. And things would come out about Westerfield after his arrest that would suggest he was not the wholesome middle-aged man he portrayed to those around him.

Monte Rissell and Darrell Gene Devier Oct 08, 2018

Show notes

Monte Rissell and Gene Devier were two real life killers portrayed in the first season of the hit Netflix show Mindhunter. We've profiled most of the other killers portrayed on the show and wanted to talk about these two as well. But, these are lesser known killers whose crimes didn't receive that much coverage so we're profiling them both in one episode.

Join Mike and Gibby as they discuss the life and crimes of these killers. Monte Rissell's crime started extremely young and he began murdering by age 18. FBI profilers studied him while he was in prison. Devier became fixated on 12-year-old Mary Frances Stoner while working on her street as a tree trimmer. Hi fascination turned to murder and it took the help of the FBI to bring him down.
