Hi Friends!
Merry Christmas from True Consequences productions! We are still hard at work through the end of the year. This case is the one I worked on for Snapped. That is why it's not a traditional advocacy-focused episode. The police records were severely lacking in information about AJ.
I want to thank Jackie Moranty for writing this script. Check out her show here: https://www.causeofdeath100secs.net/

Hosted by Ash Kelley and Alaina Urquhart from the hit show Morbid. You can binge the entire series early and ad-free right now by subscribing to Wondery+ in Apple Podcasts or the Wondery App. When 90-year-old Laurence Pilgeram drops dead on the sidewalk outside his condo, you might think that’s the end of his story. But, really, it’s just the beginning. Because Laurence and others like him have signed up to be frozen and brought back to life in the future. And that belief will pull multiple generations of the Pilgeram family into a cryonics soap opera filled with dead pets, gold coins, grenades, fist fights, mysterious packages, family feuds, Hall of Fame baseball legends, and frozen heads — lots of frozen heads. From Wondery, comes a story about life, death, and what comes next. Follow Frozen Head on Amazon Music or wherever you get your podcasts.

On October 15, 2018, Angie Romero was fighting with her boyfriend. This was not new as they had their problems. The last time her family spoke with her was on 10/14/2018 despite their attempts to call and text Angie, there was no response. She walked away from the fight and left her boyfriend’s house on foot, this was the last time that Angie was seen alive by anyone. Today we are asking where is Angie Romero?

May 10th 1996 was a normal night for Leon Laureles he was getting ready for his midnight shift at the local Kroger. According to his family he left the house at 11:30pm which was normal for him when working this shift as he wanted to show up a little early to talk to his friends at work. Later that night eyewitnesses called the police regarding a car that was engulfed in flames on FM 2126 about 5 miles outside of Brownwood, Texas. When officers arrived they found Leon with a gunshot wound to his head. This case is 26 years old and remains unresolved to this day.

Blackjack Ketchum was an old timey bank robber. He was violent and unstable. He was the first and last person to be executed for train robbery in New Mexico. This is the story of the botched hanging of Blackjack Ketchum. This was from my live show in the Spring at the Rio Bravo Brewing company outdoor stage. There is some traffic noise so I apologize for that.

For more than three and a half decades, the disappearance of 12-year-old Jonelle Matthews was a mystery – a riddle neither authorities nor her family members could solve. The residents of her cloistered Colorado hometown had scoured every inch of prairie. Jonelle’s face had been on milk cartons nationwide. Even the President of the United States had appealed to the public for help. Still, every lead had fizzled. Every person of interest had turned out to be a dead end.
Then, in 2019, Jonelle’s remains were unearthed near the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. With the discovery came a troubling new question: Had the truth been hiding in plain sight the entire time? Was the man who couldn’t stop obsessing over Jonelle’s disappearance also the person who took her? From Campside Media and Wondery comes season two of SUSPECT. Former CNN reporter Ashley Fantz and executive producers Matthew Shaer and Eric Benson (Suspect, Over My Dead Body) dig into one of the most mind-bending cold cases in modern history, in an attempt to separate fact and fiction, compulsion from guilt, and true-crime fandom from a motive for murder.

Today’s episode is a super important one. It deals with an indigenous woman who has been missing for over 2 years.
On March 24th, 2020, Pepita Redhair was dropped off at her boyfriend’s house by her mom, Anita. She had been dealing with violence in her relationship for a while. Friends and family had noticed she would have bruises on her body. Her family was worried about her. They were worried for her safety. Pepita’s mom, Anita King, told Pepita that she could come back home and stay in her childhood room. Pepita wasn’t having any of that though. She was an ambitious young woman and had worked hard to be independent. Despite her fears Anita said goodbye to Pepita, not knowing that this would be the last time she would see her daughter for many months. The lack of coverage/concern by law enforcement and the media in this case is shocking.
