TOUCHDOWNS ALL DAY w/ JON BARBER & MAX DAWSON.

E054 - BBPE (Big Bubble of Positivity Energy) - As The Disco Biscuits close out the first leg of the Why We Dance Tour, TDAD brings you a pair of interviews focusing on the band's ever-evolving sound. First up, Max is joined by Steve Martocci, the composer of the instrumentals "Monster" and "Vibes," to discuss how these songs became a part of the band's repertoire. Steve and Barber have a long history of collaborating on tech projects, including Splice, the music industry's leading royalty-free sample library, but these songs mark their first attempt at creating music together. Staying on the topic of samples, Aron Magner returns to the pod to explain how he incorporates samples from a variety of sources into the Biscuits' jams. Since December 2023, samples have been prominent features of some of the band's most exciting jams. In this segment Magner breaks down how he sources and drops new samples and the technology he uses to create them.

REVOLUTION IN MOTION, the Disco Biscuits' newest studio album, will be released on March 29, 2024 on vinyl, CD, and all streaming services. Pre-order your copy now! TOUCHDOWNS ALL DAY w/ JON BARBER & MAX DAWSON.

E053 - REVOLUTION IN MOTION Chapter 1 - The Revolution is upon us. On March 29, 2024 The Disco Biscuits will release their long-awaited concept album, REVOLUTION IN MOTION. Touchdowns All Day is proud to present the debut of a four-part series exploring the history and mythology of the band’s long-awaited “Space Opera.” Max, Jon Barber, and Joey Friedman reunite at Barber’s studio and set the controls for the heart of Polyfuzia, a planet inhabited by a race of intergalactic explorers powered by pure electricity. After delving into the origins of Barber’s and Joey’s creative partnership, they walk us through the opera’s first four songs: SHOCKED, THE WORMHOLE, TWISTED IN THE ROAD, and ANOTHER PLAN OF ATTACK. Barber and Joey introduce the saga’s cast of characters, unpack the meanings behind their lyrics, and trace the evolution of the opera’s first four songs from their earliest demos through their fully-realized final forms. E052 - JAMCEPTION with Barber and Joey Friedman Jan 12, 2024

Show notes

TOUCHDOWNS ALL DAY w/ JON BARBER & MAX DAWSON.

E052- JAMCEPTION - Max joins the Disco Biscuits' chief songwriting partners Jon Barber and Joey Friedman in the studio to discuss the three new songs the band debuted over the New Year’s Run: Dino Baby, Ring the Doorbell Twice, and Fire Will Exchange. Together they cover the band’s approach to collective on-stage composition; the jams the songs are based on; the meanings behind Joey’s lyrics; and the technology that makes it all possible. Barber breaks the songs down to their constituent elements, isolating the individual instruments and shedding light on the studio techniques that allow him to transform the Disco Biscuits’ most exciting jams into new songs. It’s an unprecedented view into how the Bisco magic gets made, and it’s only here on Touchdowns All Day.
