247 - Top 10 People Who Did TERRIBLE Things for GOOD REASONS Dec 27, 2019
    Show notes

From an early age, we’re taught to see things in black or white. Perform medical experiments on children, or deliberately drop bombs on innocent civilians and you’re clearly a bad person, right? Well, no, not exactly. See, real life is a lot more complex than we’d like it to be. It’s totally possible to do something terrible, while having a really good reason for doing so. Don’t believe us? Check out these guys.

246 - Most Important HISTORICAL Archaeological FINDS Dec 26, 2019
    Show notes

For as long as there have been civilizations on earth, man has been curious about his ancestors. Our need to connect to our past fuels the study of anthropology and the many important sites and artifacts uncovered through archaeology have opened our eyes to the lives of those that came before us.

    245 - 10 Interesting Historical CROSS DRESSERS Dec 26, 2019
    Show notes

Dressing as a member of the opposite sex has a long and varied history. In the past, men and women cross-dressed to assume new roles, to enable them to do things they otherwise couldn’t, or because they just plain wanted to. Here are some individuals who for whatever reason decided to adopt the clothing of the opposite sex:

244 - What Would Happen if The BIG ONE (Earthquake) Hits the WEST COAST Dec 25, 2019
    Show notes

When most people think of the “Big One,” they often think about an earthquake caused by the San Andreas Fault. However, there’s actually a more dangerous fault called the Cascadia Subduction Zone. The Cascadia Subduction Zone, also known as the Cascadia Fault, is almost 700 miles long and stretches the west coast of North America from Vancouver Island to Northern California. For some perspective, an earthquake caused by the San Andreas Fault could reach 8.3 on the Richter scale, but a Cascadia earthquake will be more like a 9.2. That means that the quake could shake for up to four and a half minutes.

243 - Top 10 TRANSPORTATION DISASTERS (That Were Barely Averted) Dec 25, 2019
    Show notes

Major disasters involving planes, trains, buses and ocean liners get plenty of media coverage, which has a way of making us more concerned about these modes of transport than we should be, since people are generally terrible at calculating probability. This doesn’t make our hesitation to jump on a plane after seeing a news item about a terrible plane crash any less understandable, but if only there were more stories like these to report – instances in which, despite the presence of every conceivable factor favoring tragic disaster, none occurred.

242 - Top 10 STRANGE Things TSA Agents Found in LUGGAGE Dec 24, 2019
    Show notes

There have been many changes over the last 12 years regarding what is allowed on airplanes. The horrendous events of 9/11 have essentially changed the way that airports and all public means of transportation operate. This doesn’t mean, however that some people don’t try exceedingly hard to bring certain things on a plane that they know would be otherwise forbidden. Some even go to extra lengths and threw extraordinary measures to try and hide or conceal the dangerous, bizarre and sometimes downright inappropriate things, in an attempt to sneak onto planes. This list will undoubtedly speak to the efficiency and hard work that is displayed by the transportation security administration agents, otherwise known as TSA agents, that must be vigilant in their line of work to insure the safety of hundreds and thousands of people every single day. The list included below are the top ten strange things TSA agents found in luggage.

241 - Top 10 AMAZING HOMES That Sat Untouched for DECADES Dec 24, 2019
    Show notes

Many houses throughout the world go through some sort of change over the years. It’s only natural. For example, styles of décor change and things that were once trendy and modern can become tacky and gaudy 10 years later. In other cases, houses undergo huge renovation either because upgrades were necessary, or for aesthetic reasons. The homes in this list, however, sat untouched for decades. As a result, these houses are now amazing time capsules and give us a unique look into the past.

240 - What Would Happen in a World WITHOUT ANTIBIOTICS Dec 23, 2019
    Show notes

The first antibiotic, penicillin, was discovered in 1928 by Sir Alexander Fleming and they are used to fight bacterial diseases and infections. The problem is that they are overprescribed and often prescribed to fight viruses, like the common cold and influenza, despite the fact that antibiotics aren’t effective against viruses.

239 - Top 10 ANCIENT Places That May NEVER Have EXISTED Dec 23, 2019
    Show notes

History books tell us of ancient places with amazing architecture, and world wonders long past. Archeological discovery has learned much about the world before us. The idea of many of these locations has inspired imaginations for many years. However, the truth is that history gets distorted over time both through constant retellings and sometimes through historical records that were actually just fanciful stories written after the fact. Many of the most famous locations may not have existed at all. Many of those that did, were much different than most people usually imagine.

238 - What Would Happen if EVERYONE Were a GENIUS Dec 22, 2019
    Show notes

What would happen if everyone in the world had an IQ score over 200 points? This is a type of intelligence that only comes along every so often. An IQ level of 200 is as high, or higher, than the theoretical IQs of history’s greatest minds like Albert Einstein, Leonardo da Vinci, and Isaac Newton.
