    607 - 10 Terrifying RUSSIAN Weapons of WAR Jul 26, 2020
    Show notes

Between a post-World War II habit of exaggerating the military prowess of the Third Reich, the amazing performance of Finnish soldiers during the 1939-1940 Winter War, and the fact the Soviet Union eventually collapsed, there’s a tendency to believe that the Russian military was a badly run and worse-equipped rabble. They were given inferior weapons to Western powers at all times, and it was only sheer numerical advantage and a suicidal devotion to country that they were able to defeat the Nazis and keep control of numerous satellite countries.

    606 - 10 Incredible Ways Pilots SAVED Their PLANES Jul 25, 2020
    Show notes

On December 17, 1903 the Wright Brothers made history with the first powered, controlled, and sustained heavier than air flight. Since then flying has gotten safer, but following Murphy’s Law, if something can go wrong, it will go wrong. Thousands of feet above the ground, when that something takes a turn for the worse it’s up to the pilots to prevent their planes (and themselves) from slamming into the Earth.

    605 - 10 Countries With a Serious FAKE NEWS Problem Jul 25, 2020
    Show notes

Fake news has become something of a hot topic in recent months. So much so that Collins dictionary even announced “fake news” as their word of the year for 2017.

The Western democracies can at least boast a comparatively good record when it comes to freedom of the press. Journalists can expect to do their job without fear of imprisonment or execution. That’s by no means the case everywhere.

Reporters Without Borders ranks 180 countries based on their commitment to press freedom. This list will dive to the murky depths of those rankings, taking a closer look at those countries where the government exerts control over the media and attempts to crush any alternative point of view.

604 - What Harmless Little Things Do We Love to Lie About Jul 24, 2020
    Show notes

Although lying is universally viewed as abhorrent behavior, it’s not a stretch to say that nearly everyone has lied at least once in their life. A University of Massachusetts research team wanted to find out exactly how much an average person tells a ‘white lie’, and their results were surprising.

According to their study, the average person told two to three lies in a 10-minute conversation. What makes people so prone to lie? The truth is, lying isn’t always done to deceive or be hurtful. Sometimes people lie to protect their loved ones or others. Lying and the reasons for it are complicated, and here at Top Tenz, we wanted to break it down a little.

603 - 10 Things You Wont Believe You Can MAJOR IN Jul 24, 2020
    Show notes

There are a lot of different options about what to study in college. Schools have hundreds, maybe thousands of majors, and they’re adding new ones all the time. With the plethora of choices, some of them are bound to seem a bit weird. As far as we know, underwater basket weaving is still just a joke, but some of these seem almost as funny.

Sorry if this article offends you because you’re majoring in one of these, but really… you should have expected it going in. If you didn’t know people were gonna make fun of you for majoring in Bowling Industry Management, you’re not ready for college. Just kidding – lighten up, Steve. That’s just like a Bowling major to get offended. So sensitive. Anyway, let’s get started. Below are 10 of the strangest things you can major in.

    602 - 10 Fascinating Facts About the Gallic Wars Jul 23, 2020
    Show notes

The Gallic Wars, waged between the Gallic tribes living in present-day France and Belgium and the Roman Legions under Julius Caesar, took place between the years 58 BC to 50 BC. These wars are what ultimately gave Caesar the upper hand over the Senate and his former political ally Pompey the Great, leading in turn to a civil war; the outcome of which made Caesar “dictator in perpetuity” over the entire Roman Republic. But like most conflicts throughout the ages, the Gallic Wars weren’t as straightforward as they may first appear.

601 - 10 Fascinating Documents From the Vatican Secret Archives Jul 23, 2020
    Show notes

There are many dubious claims about what might lie hidden in the Vatican Secret Archives – from alien remains and time travel devices to prophecies of impending Apocalypse – all of which position the Holy See as an implausibly powerful agent in the history and fate of mankind.

600 - 10 Countries Its Super Easy to EMIGRATE To Jul 22, 2020
    Show notes

We’ve all felt it. That desperate, cloying urge to escape. That semi-primal need to flee our home country and all its madness and never look back, and instead devote ourselves to relaxing on distant beaches / becoming a kung fu master (it’s a tough call). And we’ve also all felt its accompanying feeling: that sad realization that our dreams are but beautiful illusions, and cruel, cruel reality is gonna drag us kicking and screaming back into its stifling embrace any minute.

    599 - 10 Acquittals That Shocked the World Jul 22, 2020
    Show notes

The old saying goes that justice is blind. Experience tells us she’s also as unpredictable as a drunken horse on roller skates. Over the course of legal history, there have been a number of seemingly open-and-shut cases that have ended up not with convictions, but with the accused swanning out of court into the bright light of freedom while the public are left to pick their collective jaws up off the floor. We’re not saying that any of the following were miscarriages of justice. We are saying that acquittals were the last verdict anyone expected.

    598 - 10 Shocking Deaths at Disney Parks Jul 21, 2020
    Show notes

Disneyland is supposed to be one of the most wonderful places on Earth, and it’s probably one of the last places you would ever expect to die.

In a recent list, we already mentioned the death of Disneyland employee Deborah Gail Stone, whose head was crushed while working as a hostess at America Sings. Sadly, Deborah was not the only who met her maker in the park. Here are 10 more shocking stories of people who died at Disneyland.
