When facing difficulties, challenges, trauma, setbacks, and negative circumstances, we can fight against it or we can embrace it. The better choice is to embrace it.
Never wish for a better life or wish your problems away. Embrace the setbacks and find confidence as you overcome it inch by inch, every step of the way.

Everyone on this planet at some point has been stuck. Maybe you're feeling stuck right now. There is no secret to getting unstuck, it's just patience, putting in effort, and this very important piece of the success puzzle.
Building resilience is about feeling liberated, confident, and free to do what you want without guilt or irrational anxiety! When you're feeling stuck, unsure, or lack the self-belief that your efforts will result in anything that hurts your resilience and opens a door to a host of negative emotions that if left to persist can impact your life and your mental health negatively.
This is what I fight against every...damn...day with myself, my family, my clients, my students, my community, and the world.

We all face death in our lives, but what can you do with it? Once the time for grieving occurs, what can you do to use death productively to support your positive psychology, your resilience?
You must use the flame that the now deceased started and use their passing to ignite a massive fire in their honor!
Is it hard to do? Yes! But it’s necessary!

Why is it that we look at certain successful people and think they are different from us? We think we can't do what they did. That's the wrong idea. We CAN be where they are or close to it if we follow their lead. So if you have goals to be fitter, more wealthy, more intelligent, and so on...follow the paths of those who are where you want to be! Success leaves clues, so follow them and pick up their clues to help you in your journey!
Another thing to keep in mind is follow those leaders who have overcome crazy odds that would scare the living heck out of you! If they could get through it, so could you. I personally think of people like Viktor Frankl or Sylvester Stallone, when I get down on myself. I remember their stories and it inspires me that I will never face the odds they did and I am more blessed than I think I am.
Both of these outputs will help give us perspective as well as help us achieve our goals faster.

Mini Challenges are so important because they give you a little shot of dopamine throughout your day. These mini challenges have to be manufactured by you as you push through a barrier in your mind. Set up mini challenges throughout your day - at the gym, at work, at home, in your leisure time. Do it as often as you can and feel a sense of satisfaction that will short circuit your brain, reprogram it, and will help you to eradicate the demons of your mind.

This week on Cut the Crap Podcast, I want you to feel stirred. stimulated, inspired by the words and score put to Charlie Chaplin's speech from his film - The Great Dictator.
Listen to it twice, three, four, five times even. Let the words sink in and drive you in your own way. And if it doesn't resonate with you after giving it a chance...do away with it and allow something else the opportunity to stir you.

This week Cut The Crap Podcast features the book, "The Upside of Your Dark Side: Why Being Your Whole Self - Not Just Your "Good" Self - Drives Success and Fulfillment" by Todd Kashdan.
Happiness experts have long told us to tune out our negative emotions and focus instead on mindfulness, positivity, and optimism. Researchers Todd Kashdan and Robert Biswas-Diener disagree. Positive emotions alone are not enough. Anger makes us creative, selfishness makes us brave, and guilt is a powerful motivator. The real key to success lies in emotional agility. The Upside of Your Dark Side will be embraced by business leaders, parents, and everyone else who’s ready to put their entire psychological tool kit to work.

This week Cut The Crap Podcast features the book, "Why We Work" by Barry Schwartz.
The question seems so simple. But Professor Barry Schwartz proves that the answer is surprising, complex and urgent. We've long been taught that the reason we work is primarily for a paycheck. Then why are so many people dissatisfied with their work, despite healthy compensation? And why do so many people find immense fulfillment and satisfaction through "menial" jobs? Schwartz reveals exactly how the false idea that the goal for work should be pay came to be, how we came to believe that paying workers more leads to better work, and why this has made our society confused, unhappy and has established a dangerously misguided system.

The beautiful practicality of her teaching has made Pema Chödrön one of the most beloved of contemporary American spiritual authors among Buddhists and non-Buddhists alike. A collection of talks she gave between 1987 and 1994, the book is a treasury of wisdom for going on living when we are overcome by pain and difficulties.

This week Cut The Crap Podcast features the book, "All Marketers Are Liars: The Power of Telling Authentic Stories in a Low-Trust World," by Seth Godin.
Every marketer tells a story. And if they do it right, we believe them. We believe that wine tastes better in a $20 glass than a $1 glass. We believe that an $80,000 Porsche Cayenne is vastly superior to a $36,000 VW Touareg, which is virtually the same car. We believe that $225 Pumas will make our feet feel better-and look cooler-than $20 no-names . . . and believing it makes it true. Successful marketers don't talk about features or even benefits. Instead, they tell a story. A story we want to believe. This is a book about doing what consumers demand-painting vivid pictures that they choose to believe.

This week Cut The Crap Podcast features the marketing book, 'Made to Stick."
Some ideas are “stick-worthy” while others are not and the traditional advice to make ideas stick, such as knowing your audience, making eye contact, practice, and repetition, tends to have limited effectiveness.
In Made to Stick, authors Chip and Dan Heath argue that people remember ideas that contain a simple, proverb-like message, are unexpected, are concrete in description, credible in nature, evoke emotion, or are presented as stories. These Six Principles of Sticky Ideas, compacted into the acronym SUCCESs, serve as a blueprint for making ideas and messages more effective and memorable.

This week Cut The Crap Podcast features the marketing book, 'The Tipping Point."
The tipping point is that magic moment when an idea, trend, or social behavior crosses a threshold, tips, and spreads like wildfire. Just as a single sick person can start an epidemic of the flu, so too can a small but precisely targeted push cause a fashion trend, the popularity of a new product, or a drop in the crime rate. This widely acclaimed bestseller, in which Malcolm Gladwell explores and brilliantly illuminates the tipping point phenomenon, is already changing the way people throughout the world think about selling products and disseminating ideas.”
