The Knot Wars continue with a battle between two important saltwater fishing knots, the spider hitch and the Bimini twist both used to double the line without losing strength.

Many think that the Bimini Twist is a difficult knot (it’s not) and look for an easier way. The Spider Hitch is easier to follow and today we will test it to see if it is as strong as the Bimini Twist. Properly managing your tackle and improving it is part of controlling the controllable, which is a key to becoming a great angler. Physical Friday- The Pyramid Format - Episode #640 Jul 22, 2022

The Pyramid format builds upon the 10-1 format we learned last week, but provides a slight bump in difficulty. This format also stays in the theme of Physical Friday that you don’t need to break the bank in order to achieve fitness. Even if it’s just stretch of open road or playground, a stairwell or a parking lot, there are ways to work out without having much or any equipment at all. Fitness does not have to be expensive or complicated. I keep ideas of simple travel workouts on my phone so I always have an idea or I can change up my current routine.

Dylan Tomine is an outdoor writer and Patagonia ambassador who’s works include Headwaters: The Adventures, Obsession and Evolution of a Fly Fisherman, and Closer to the Ground: An Outdoor Family’s Year on the Water, in the Woods and at the Table. His articles have also appeared in some of the top fly fishing publications in the world. Dylan also served as a producer for the documentary “Artifishal” which discusses some of the challenges in the salmon hatchery industry.

Physical Friday - 10 to 1 Format - Episode #637 Jul 15, 2022

The 10-1 format, or countdown format is a beautifully simple format that can be surprisingly difficult. A recurring theme of Physical Friday is that you don’t need to break the bank in order to achieve fitness. Whether its a stretch of open road or playground, a stairwell or a parking lot, there are ways to work out without having much or any equipment at all. Fitness does not have to be expensive or complicated. I keep ideas of simple travel workouts on my phone so I always have an idea or I can change up my current routine. The 10-1 format with 2 exercises is a go-to favorite.

Anthony and I have spent a lot of time together traveling and fishing the Redfish Tournaments and have maintained contact and our friendship since those ended for us many years ago.

Anthony is, in my estimation, one of the finest redfish guides and angler found on planet Earth.
