Return To Paradise by Laina Villeneuve

    Book Clips

Welcome to Book Clips, the mini podcast where authors and narrators give you a taste of a book with a short snippet.

    Synopsis

    Do you believe in destiny?

Guest-ranch manager Madison Carter certainly does. Abandoned as a small child, she knows little of her past but is convinced that uncovering it will lead her to healing and home. On a journey of self-discovery to the town where she was born, she meets Lacey McAlpine. The self-assured, straight-talking entrepreneur Lacey is blessed with loving family and friends and has always shaped her own destiny—or so she believes.

The sparks fly almost immediately, but the women’s contrasting personalities and what Lacey perceives as Madison’s secretive nature keep them from igniting—just yet. Their friendship deepens to passionate romance, however, when Madison moves into town to open her own guest ranch—and begins to open up about herself.

A lock without a key, a box of childhood treasures and a scruffy white horse begin to illuminate Madison’s shadowed past. Despite her Miss-Fix-It attitude, Lacey will soon learn that it will take a little destiny to repair a broken soul.

    Good Water by Kayt Peck

    Book Clips

Welcome to Book Clips, the mini podcast where authors and narrators give you a taste of a book with a short snippet.

    Synopsis

The dry plains drew Judy Proctor like a bear to her den…or a moth to the flame. Ranching was her life. The sweat as she branded or “doctored” cattle…the howl of a coyote in the quiet, night air ... half-frozen fingers as she cut the wire to loosen hay bales for hungry cattle scratching for survival in snow-covered land…all of the everyday existence on the ranch was her life.

    It was where she belonged.

    It was a lonely life.

She had tried to leave the ranch to join the “normal” existence of a talented young woman in the city, but it had never been home. When her parents were killed in an automobile accident, she returned to the family ranch as much because she needed it as it needed her. She faced a lonely life to be shared with no better company than Somegood and Useless, her cow dog and the mottled mutt that were her companions.

Kathleen Romero slipped into Judy’s life unexpectedly. She came to the plains to write a story. Would she stay because of the real truth she found in the simple drama of husbanding land and animals?

Unfortunately, even wide-open spaces can be plagued by prejudice and closed-minds. As the two women struggle to know each other, they must also carve a place for themselves among the country-folk who have been Judy’s friends and neighbors her entire life.

    Being Josie by Darcy McInnes

    Book Clips

Welcome to Book Clips, the mini podcast where authors and narrators give you a taste of a book with a short snippet.

    Synopsis

The dream was terrifying and vivid, but when Seattle resident Josie Pace awakes, all she can remember are two details: a newspaper headline from the 1970s and an unusual name—Tambra.

Certain the dream means something, Josie digs into the past and discovers a woman named Tambra Delaney who died in a nearby city in the seventies, murdered by her neighbor, Vivian Latham.

Josie can't shake the feeling that the official story of Tambra’s murder is deeply wrong, and Vivian was innocent. She continues to dig, discovering Tambra’s daughter and husband are still alive.

Something powerful binds Josie to Tambra, driving the young woman to the site of Tambra’s death. She’s determined to right a decades-old injustice. There’s just one problem: she has no proof beyond her own inexplicable connection to the murder.

And then there’s policewoman Laura Ramirez. Josie is drawn to her too. That attraction, at least, is easily explained. Or is it? As Josie gets to know Laura she begins to suspect that there's much more to her attraction to the policewoman than meets the eye.

A metaphysical crime drama, Being Josie follows two women separated by time, yet somehow intimately connected.
