Ep. 231: A tear… in my eye! Jan 23, 2021

Show notes

With a tear… in our eyes! It’s a new episode of Tights and Fights! We’re giving the main roster of WWE some love this week.

Smackdown’s given us Roman Reigns, Kevin Owens, Billie Kay, and Bayley’s Ding Dong Hello program and so much more. Plus we might get to see Apollo team up with Roman and Paul Heyman? Come on!

Plus, we’re a little split on the weekly spooky antics of Alexa Bliss. Find out which side of the reaction spectrum we fall on when it comes to her newfound powers of beating Asuka clean.

It goes without saying, but we’re going to anyway: NXT was fantastic this week. What a great night for something called a Fight Pit!

But don’t worry, we’ve still got some love (and constructive criticism for AEW).

Main Event

The 1992 Royal Rumble is considered one of the best editions of the event ever. We’ll talk about what makes it work, the promo that Ric Flair made famous and the why it was such an crazy time to be a wrestling fan.

Three Count

Lindsey put over Rhea Ripley on Twitter..

Ep. 230: All Elite Gaming Jan 16, 2021

Show notes

Pass the controller and keep your mask on for the love of all things holy! It’s a new episode of Tights and Fights!

WWE has been dealt a blow with its champion, Drew McIntyre being one of the latest people who’ve tested positive for COVID-19. What does that mean for his 100% totally wanted dream match with Goldberg at the Royal Rumble?

We’re also scant weeks away from the Rumble, WWE’s first major show of the year. We’ve got a few contestants named, but most of the fun in a show like this is all the surprises that are hopefully in-store.

Plus, how great is NXT? Seriously? We got even more great shows guaranteed with Finn Balor vs. Pete Dunn on the horizon and he Dusty Rhodes tag team classic in full swing.

Main Event

AEW has shared more details of its up-coming video game. We’re not really sold on the extra beefy character models that we’ve seen so far.... But the gameplay sounds promising! We’ll explain what our hopes are for the game to fill the 2K sized hole in hearts that WWE’s games have left.

Three Count

Danielle put over Malcom Bivens ruining the Buss It challenge.

Julian put over the WWE Day of Reckoning video-game series.

Hal put over Dr. Britt Baker's Waiting Room.

Ep. 229: RIP Brodie Lee Jan 09, 2021

Show notes

Welcome to the first Tights and Fights of 2021! Has this year been an immediate improvement of the political strife and international turmoil of last year? Not really! But at least there’s a lot of good wrestling!

Let’s start with NXT New Year’s Evil. What a great top to bottom show. We barely even remember to talk about the fantastic main event for how good the rest of the show is!

Plus, Lindsey saw her long dream fulfilled in the main event of Night One of Wrestle Kingdom 15: Kota Ibushi is the champ-champ of New Japan!

Finally, we’ll talk about the latest version of Bullet Club arriving on multiple promotions near you.

Main Event

You knew him as Brodie Lee, the Leader of the Dark Order in AEW and Luke Harper, member of the Wyatt Family in WWE. In real life he was Jon Huber; a star gone entirely too soon. We heard the last few weeks from tons of people across wrestling who knew and loved him after he died on December 26th. We’ll discuss some of our favorite moments from his great career.

Three Count

Danielle put over Alicia Fox being recognized as the Legend she is.

Lindsey put over Jay White’s post Wrestle Kingdom promo.

Ep. 228: The 2020 Series Finale Dec 31, 2020

Show notes

You did it! You really really did it! 2020 is finally ending and not a moment too soon. It was the damndest year that any of us experienced and I’m sure we’re all eager or a new beginning.

As usual, wrestling reflected and amplified the strangeness of real life. We saw empty arenas, thunder domes, football fields, funhouses and so much more as the setting for wrestling matches. And all of it happened in front of little to no fans.

So before we bid it a not-so fond adieu, we’ll discuss some of the biggest things from the year in wrestling!

Hosted by Hal Lublin, Danielle Radford and Lindsey Kelk.

Produced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.

In honor of the holiday season, we’re taking a pause from the wrestling chatter to discuss some of our favorite Christmas specials of all time!

Everything from classics like Scrooged, to modern gems like The Christmas Chronicles to ones we’re not positive are real like Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas.

Pls we’ve invited on a number of our wrestle-fwiends to share their favorite Holiday viewing traditions. Peeps like RJ City, Colt Cabana and more!

Show notes

Gimme Tables! Gimme Ladders! Gimme Cans! It’s a new episode of Tights and Fights!

WWE has one last show to put on this Sunday: TLC. We’ll talk about the matches that are on deck that will round out the damndest year of pro wrestling that any of us have lived through.

Plus NXT’s women’s and men’s world title scene continue to exhibit tons of quality challengers. Is there any chance that Kyle O’Reilly beats Finn Balor? Is Toni Storm the best choice to face Io Shirai? And what’s the deal with all the leather gear lately?

Finally, we’ll discuss what jokes from wrestling absolutely need to be retired in the new year. NOT A GOOD LOOK, AEW!

Main Event

Look the news is slow this week. So what better way to cozy up on this holiday season than with a rousing conversation about Daniel Bryan explaining to his brother in law the importance of providing your wife with love as she carries your child?

Ep. 225: War Games and air guitars Dec 12, 2020

Show notes

War is hell… and hell.. IS AWESOME! It’s a new episode of Tights and Fights!

We talk about everything we loved from NXT TakeOver: War Games. Io Shirai with a trashcan bomb was a gift to us all, for sure. In fact, so was just about everything from that women’s match.

Plus, Johnny Gargano is a three time North American champion with a brand new faction that’s probably a Star Wars reference.

When we’re done freaking out about the greatness from that show, we’ll discuss Kenny Omega on Impact Wrestling and whether or not we’re interested in seeing any more crossovers between the two brands.

Main Event

The Undisputed Era is the certified lifeblood of NXT. Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong have held all the men’s gold, main evented tons of TakeOvers and just been a delight as they air guitared their way into our hearts. We’ll talk about why we love them so much and how we’d feel if they were to ever break up.

The Three Count

Danielle put over Wrestling kinks on tiktok..

Lindsey put over the Bianca Belair in an antivaping PSA..

Julian put over wrestlers' love of Sephiroth..

Ep. 224: Wrestling with ambividish Dec 05, 2020

Show notes

Two Teams, two cages, full heart, clear eyes, can’t lose, a partridge in a pear tree. It’s a new episode of Tights and Fights!

NXT is getting ready for the latest edition of its War Games TakeOver with TWO double cage matches coming on Saturday. And while we love us some Pat McAfee, that women’s cage is hitting on all cylinders for us right now.

Plus, there’s a LOT happening with AEW right now: Kenny Omega cheated his way to the AEW world championship and has hinted that he will be bringing the title over to Tuesday night’s Impact Wrestling. What could this mean and how do we feel about the prospect of this sort of cross over?

Plus, we’ll tell you about riding our Pelotons (or at least our incredible inaccurate simulations).

Main Event

Sting is the latest star from Yesteryear to enter AEW. He’s aligned himself with Darby Allin. There are a lot of fans of the Stinger who are excited to see him back in a wrestling ring, but what does this mean for AEW in a big picture sense?

The Three Count

Danielle put over Paris is bumping.

Lindsey put over the improvement of Raquel Gonzalez.

Hal put over Johnny Gargano on commentary.

Hosted by Hal Lublin, Danielle Radford, Lindsey Kelk and Julian Burrell.

Produced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.

Ep. 223: NXT Theme Songs w/ James Durbin Nov 26, 2020

Show notes

Sing that song in your heart and listen to the roar of the crowd, it’s another episode of Tights and Fights!

Musician James Durbin joins us once again! And this time he’s got a new album coming out very soon. And it features a certain wrestling legend…

Plus, he’ll tell us about how this show influenced his music his music career in a massive way.

All of that… and we’ll even go around the metaphysical table and tell you about what we’re thankful for.

Ring Tones

NXT has been through a lot of changes since its time on SyFy to the WWE Network to USA Network. And each era has been represented by a new theme song. We’ll take a look at each era of WWE’s newest brand to explain what worked… and what didn’t.

Hosted by Hal Lublin, Danielle Radford, Lindsey Kelk and Julian Burrell.

Produced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.

Ep. 222: The Pro Episode Nov 21, 2020

Show notes

Sharpen your swords and groom your beards, it’s another episode of Tights and Fights

There’s also a lot of title news to get to this week: Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley will once again wrestle for the AEW World Championship. Has the company put Kenny on the right path to gain our unabashed cheers?

Plus, on RAW and NXT, Drew McIntyre and Io Shirai emerged with championships after PPV quality matches. With War Games on the horizon and Survivor Series on the way, are we confident in how the top of the mountain looks for both brands?

And speaking of Survivor Series, we’ll tell you about which matches we think have the best chance to steal the show. Pro Swords!

Main Event

Zelina Vega has left WWE. This comes after she had just entered the RAW women's title scene about a month ago and after a five year stint where she showcased herself as an incredibly talented wrestler and manager. We're going to talk about that and how bad that could be for WWE retaining its budding stars.

The Three Count

Danielle put over meg.boggs on tiktok and instagram..

Lindsey Suavecito's WWE hair product..

Hal put over Leon Ruff vs Johnny Gargano vs. Damian Priest.

Hosted by Hal Lublin, Danielle Radford, Lindsey Kelk and Julian Burrell.
