    Thrive Parenting

Hey, it’s hard to be the parent of a teen. We help you reclaim your time, energy, confidence and health so you can feel your best. Each week we bring you tools and techniques to feel happier while raising strong, confident teens with fewer rules and more laughter. We’re Erik and Michelle Lehnardt and we’ve taken a deep dive into positive psychology, life coaching and brain science to bring you better, easier ways to raise great teens. We don’t claim to be perfect (in fact, if you want to tell us something we’ve done wrong, we’ll say, “You’re probably right.”) but we have 28 years of parenting experience and we can save you from so many missteps and mistakes. Looking to feel amazing while creating a joyful home and raise kind, strong, self-sufficient kids? Keep listening.

This week we're talking to twenty-three year old TedX speaker, Megan Gallagher. As a teen, Megan suffered from debilitating anxiety and panic attacks. She's now turned her pain to her purpose as a speaker to youth groups. Megan's story is especially interesting to us because of her incredible parents who stayed calm, kept communication open and found solutions. We love Megan's story and we think you will too.

Episode #12 The Things You Are Doing Right Jun 06, 2019

We're so grateful to you.

Episode #8 Thoughts on Happiness May 14, 2019
    Show notes

Life isn't meant to be happy all the time. But if you work on it just a little, you'll tip the scales in your own favor. This episode talks about how happiness comes from our thoughts-- not from external circumstances. And since we can control our thoughts, we can access more happiness in our lives in simple ways. This isn't about chasing away negative thoughts or chasing after positive ones-- it's about ending the chase altogether. Books referred to in this episode:
The Happiness Advantage: How a Positive Brain Fuels Success in Work and Life by Shawn Achor
Hardwiring Happiness: The New Brain Science of Contentment, Calm, and Confidence by Rick Hanson.

Episode #7 Beauty Redefined with Lexie Kite May 07, 2019
    Show notes

Your body is an instrument, not an ornament. Lexie and Lindsay Kite run Beauty Redefined, a nonprofit teaching body resilience. Your body can run and jump and smile and write and sing and serve! You are here to DO things-- not just to look good. When we think less about how we look and more about how we can serve, skills we can learn, what we can DO, we feel empowered. We are here to LIVE not simply as ornaments to be looked at. You'll love this episode for the truths you'll learn and the ideas you can teach your kids. You can learn more at beautyredefined.org or @beauty-redefined. We especially love their Instagram account.
