#374: SEC Preview Oct 23, 2024

Show notes

The SEC's football dominance has been kneecapped by in-conference parity, but the league has an ace up its sleeve: an excellent collection of basketball squads. Texas and Oklahoma join, but its the incumbents - Auburn, Alabama, Tennessee - that are in the national title picture, and the league has wild depth (only #96 Vandy is outside the KenPom top 70).

Per usual, the Weavers dig into each SEC squad and try to figure out what makes it tick. What has to go right? What could potentially hold them back? How #IN are Ky and Jim on their Missouri Tigers?

Three new board bets originated in this one - one that isn't even SEC-related!

The Rundown(0:10) - Intro (5:25) - Root's Roundup (including Tony Bennett's stunning retirement!) #371: Big Ten Preview Oct 03, 2024

Show notes

It's big bad Big Ten time! The newly coast-to-coast league is packed with parity, and we've convinced ourselves that any of the 18 teams could theoretically earn at at-large bid this season. But is there a true national title contender lurking among all that balance? Will the massive variance of teams like Illinois, Rutgers and Indiana result in huge years, or scuffling disappointments? And how does the addition of the Big Ten's West Wing (UCLA, USC, Oregon, Washington) impact the overall landscape of the league in hoops?

The Rundown (0:10) - Intro (5:40) - Root's Roundup (17:02) - Big Ten Overview (Standings, All-Conf, Storylines) (25:46) - Purdue (30:01) - Indiana (33:53) - Oregon (37:25) - Michigan (41:31) - Rutgers (45:50) - UCLA (49:29) - Illinois (53:34) - Michigan St. (56:40) - Ohio St. (1:01:16) - Washington (1:04:32) - Maryland (1:10:28) - Iowa (1:13:33) - Nebraska (1:17:02) - USC (1:20:42) - Wisconsin (1:23:35) - Northwestern (1:26:40) - Penn St. (1:30:02) - Minnesota
