Exploring The World Of Social Media Influencers: On HBO’s Fake Famous Documentary Feb 17, 2021
    Show notes

One of the biggest contradictions we have now in this day and age is social media. While it has opened up ways for us to connect, it has also managed to heighten the need for outside validation, giving birth to more and more people putting a façade online and faking it. One of the recent documentaries that explore this social dilemma is HBO’s Fake Famous. In this episode, Jason Wrobel and Whitney Lauritsen share their reactions and reflections on this thought-provoking show. How is this fakeness on social media affecting those who have been working hard to be authentic, organic, and real? How is it redefining the term “influencer”? What is it saying about capitalism and marketing? What are its effects on our mental health? Jason and Whitney explore these questions and provide insights into the lengths the influencer culture has impacted us all.

Non-Traditional Relationships: On Platonic Love Over Romance Feb 15, 2021
    Show notes

There is something to be said about platonic relationships that often outweigh romantic relationships. In our evolving world, more and more are starting to value friendships in partnerships more than the trappings of sex and romance. In this episode, Jason Wroble and Whitney Lauritsen dive deep into these non-traditional relationships, finding their inspiration from an article in The Atlantic titled “What If Friendship, Not Marriage, Was at the Center of Life?” They discuss the different instances that people choose to live together as friends, platonic life partners, ride or die buddies, and the likes. They also break the notion that people of the opposite sex cannot be friends, sharing with us their relationship with each other and proving people wrong. Love is so much more than cupid, arrows, and marriage. It is complex and not necessarily just within the context of romance. Join Jason and Whitney as they discuss more about the different expressions of love, honoring those relationships that thrive beyond the traditional understanding of it.

Ibrahim Sharkas On How Expressing From The Heart Can Change The World Feb 12, 2021
    Show notes

In our busy and noisy world, many people forget how to look within and become agents of inspiration and change. By expressing from the heart, even the things we consider impossible can finally become possible. Jason Wrobel and Whitney Lauritsen sit down with Ibrahim Sharkas to discover how letting out all the emotions and thoughts deep within the heart is key in achieving peace and unity in a world too focused on not-enoughness, political disputes, religious differences, and the need for instantaneous results. They also discuss how gravitating towards the arts, which is the primary way of expressing oneself, must focus on stewardship and giving birth to an impactful output rather than becoming obsessed with feedback and prominence.

Panic Attacks & Breaking The Addiction To Validation Feb 08, 2021
    Show notes

In today's age of data and information, our ideas of success are measured mainly by numbers, from social media followers, bank account status, and current weight. And since these numbers are truly powerful despite their fluctuating nature, they can control our thoughts and push us to have this addiction to validation. Jason Wrobel shares his recent panic attacks caused by discontentment with his career and investments and how he believes proper guidance from others can free him from such an alarming phase. On the other hand, Whitney Lauritsen discusses the emptiness one can feel even by having tons of online fans and viewership and how the internet community should focus more on delivering values instead of chasing after mere prominence.

Beyond Money: A Motivation That Lasts Feb 03, 2021
    Show notes

Is it really possible to be motivated by something other than money, material objects or any other tangible outcome? Is there such a thing as sustainable motivation? It’s almost a cliché to say that we need to be motivated by the process of creation instead of the outcomes of that process, but it’s also almost too hard to extricate ourselves from the material aspects of success. Jason Wrobel and Whitney Lauritsen spend this episode talking about where they are in their lives and careers now and what motivates them to do the things they are doing. Like them, you would be in one form of motivation or another. What keeps you going? Listen in and weigh in on the conversation.

Understanding Willpower: Delving Into Its Limits And Impact On Our Lives Feb 01, 2021
    Show notes

Understanding willpower is one of the things we sometimes take for granted, so much so that it is considered as if a supernatural force. If left unchecked, it can affect addictive tendencies, lead to a judgmental attitude, and make the body unhealthy. Jason Wrobel and Whitney Lauritsen dissect how willpower plays a role in our lives, discussing how a simple change in habits, becoming self-aware with our current situation, and adopting an intuitive diet can help redirect this seemingly magical aspect of our lives for the better. They also talk about the importance of not getting into a pleasure trap by reorganizing your mindset regarding accepting reward values.

Gender Pronouns: The Fight Against Binary Assumptions And Language In A Nonbinary World With Dr. Melissa MacDonald Jan 29, 2021
    Show notes

We love to think that society has moved significantly forward in terms of gender diversity and inclusion, but there is still so much to work on for us and future generations. From “gender reveals” to gendered clothing to the historically unfortunate way the English language uses pronouns, a lot of aspects of contemporary culture are still rooted in binary assumptions. In response to popular demand, Whitney Lauritsen and Jason Wrobel finally discuss these issues on the podcast with a guest who is uniquely qualified to talk about them. Dr. Melissa MacDonald is a chiropractor for sports professionals. Dr. Mac is also a speaker for issues like transgender athlete health and equal participation in sports. Her experience and advocacy uniquely positions her as a resource for this episode’s conversation. Listen in and open your eyes (and vocabulary) to the wider world of gender.
