Episode 187 - Playing Zelda-Themed ”Would You Rather...” Nov 15, 2021

Show notes

Another week goes by, another week with no Zelda news. In order to pas the time and entertain ourselves, Andy and Al are joined by Gooey Fame to answer some Zelda-themed "would you rather" questions. Would we rather see a live action or animated Zelda movie? Would we rather hang out at Telma's Bar or the Lofty Pumpkin? Would we rather every new Zelda game play like Tri Force Heroes or look like Twilight Princess? Would we rather work for Beedle or Tingle? Would we rather have the Spinner in real life or the Master Cycle Zero?

All this and so many more questions, some goofy, some serious! PLUS, we chat a little wrestling and Zelda animated cartoon!

Episode 186 - Reviewing Age of Calamity‘s Disappointing Wave 2 DLC Nov 08, 2021

Show notes

The second batch of DLC for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, called Guardian of Remembrance, dropped last month, promising new vignettes, playable characters, stages, abilities, and more. Was the DLC a smashing success? Well, not exactly. This week, come listen to the gang as they lay out their problems with Age of Calamity's story, discuss the new playable characters, go over the missions and where they fell short, ponder the timing of introducing ultimate weapons, and wonder out loud "what was the point of it all"?

Don't forget to participate in next week's show by asking us a Zelda-themed Would You Rather question on either Discord, Facebook, or Twitter!

Episode 184 - Playing Guess That Zelda Dungeon in 10 Questions Oct 25, 2021

Show notes

With another slow news week in the world of Zelda rolling on by, we decided to pass the time by bringing back an old favorite: Guess That Zelda ____! This time, we've decided to try and stump each other by picking some of the dungeons (and mini-dungeons) of the series. Joined by our own Skull Kid Nico, we activate what we're calling Fusion Difficulty (thanks Metroid!) and limiting ourselves to only 10 questions instead of the usual 16 to get it right. Think you can beat us? Come play along!

Epiode 183 - Majora‘s Mask Q&A! Oct 18, 2021

Show notes

Buckle in, because we have an action packed show for you today! We asked you to give us your best Majora's Mask questions and as usually, you did not disappoint! What would a Rito transformation mask have looked like? Is there any reason to ever come back to Termina? Where does Skull Kid rank on the list on non-Ganon Zelda villains? What do we make of the "Link is dead" theory? What's a sidequest that could have been improved? Which Majora's Mask characters are better than their Ocarina of Time counter parts and vice versa? Should Zelda ever tackle the themes of grief and loss as head on as this game does ever again?

All this, PLUS hear our thoughts on the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass pricing model, what we think about Sora being the final Smash Bros. character, just what the heck Captain N is, and chatter about Pokémon cards. Come hang with us!

Episode 182 - Examining The Intertwined Histories of Zelda and Metroid Oct 11, 2021

Show notes

So, full disclosure: this is more an episode about Metroid from a Zelda fans perspective than an episode about Zelda itself, so if you're looking for in depth Zelda, come back next week (when, by the way, we're answering Majora's Mask questions, so if you have any, make sure to ask us on Discord!).

This week, we're celebrating the release of Metroid Dread by looking back and examining why it is that Zelda took off as a series and Metroid hit a stalemate, while then comparing the 35th anniversaries of both series and asking which got the better deal. PLUS, Alasyn finally played Super Metroid as part of her losing an E3 bet, so she shares her first time experiences and talks about the bosses, the Baby Metroid, the controls, the concept of a Metroidvania, and... Phantom Hourglass's Temple of the Ocean King??

Come hang with us, and if you've never played a Metroid game, consider trying Dread!
