A Sword Will Pierce Your Own Soul, Too Feb 25, 2020

Show notes

How is is that Jesus can simultaneously bring such consolation, and yet so much pain? How is that he can seem to simultaneously break our hearts, and mend them? How is it that the way of Jesus can both bring people together, and yet be so divisive? The old prophet says to Mary the mother of Jesus, “a sword will pierce your own soul, too,” and that’s what today’s Zeitcast is about.

Christ Crucified Feb 10, 2020

Show notes

When I was a kid, I remember hearing that Catholics “still have Jesus on the cross.” Well the Apostle Paul certainly believes in the resurrection of Christ, but he also says he decided to know nothing but “Christ crucified.” Even as people with the hope of resurrection, could it make all the difference in the world in what kind of religion we have based on whether or not our faith is actually centered/oriented around the crucifixion/the crucified one?

Jesus. Feb 05, 2020

Show notes

This episode is exactly what it sounds like. In part two of our conversation with theologians Dr. Chris Green & Dr. Robby Waddell, we simply talk about...Jesus! Who he is, what he means to us now, what he means for the moment we are in. A beautiful, deeply personal conversation about the “non-anxious presence” that is always with us.

Show notes

It has been often said that the interpreters of John’s apocalypse are even stranger than the visions & creatures he saw. Many people are understandably put off by the book of Revelation. But on today’s Zeitcast, we are bringing in two theological heavy hitters, Dr. Robby Waddell & Dr. Chris Green both of Southeastern University, to help us recover the New Testament’s most enigmatic book.

Beloved Jan 22, 2020

Show notes

Whether or not you are fully convinced that you are loved makes all the difference in the world for the kind of person you will become. God's scandalous proclamation over you, no matter who you are or what you have done (or not done!), is that you are a BELOVED daughter, a BELOVED son, in whom God is WELL PLEASED. We get into the heart of belovedness as our most essential identity, detouring along the way to talk about Russell Westbrook's return to OKC, the Thunder, and Kevin Durant's insecurity as a case study for when we forget what God says about us.
