    The Wine Pair Podcast

Drink Better Wine. People are drinking less, so every bottle needs to be memorable. Joe and Carmela help you discover affordable wines you’ll love: hidden gems, chillable reds, and old favorites worth another look. Each week, they take on a new grape, style, or region, explain why it matters, and taste two wines under $25 they bought themselves. They don’t accept samples, so their reviews are real. They tell you what wines really taste like and pull no punches when a bottle is a dud. Decanter calls the show “fun, irreverent, chatty, and entertaining.” New episodes Sundays.

In this episode, we pair three wines with Indian food and discover that they work together pretty darn well! We cover what to look for in wines to pair with Indian food - hint, think about acidity, oak, and alcohol content - and we also discuss a little bit about why there may be this perception that Indian food is hard to pair with wine and how wine production is increasing in India. We pair wine with Butter Chicken, Tandoori Chicken Tikka, Dal Maharani, Garlic Naan, and Vegetable Samosas, food we ordered from Cedars restaurant in Seattle. Show notes

Ever tried the wonderful wine Gamay, also known as Beaujolais? Well, you really should! Gamay is a crisp, refreshing red wine meant to be served chilled. Yes, it’s true - there are some red wines that are served chilled! As former teachers, Joe and Carmela are committed to your lifelong learning, and that includes learning about wine! This wine is the epitome of “crunchy red fruit,” a wine term you should be familiar with. In addition to tasting and reviewing three Gamay wines, we also talk about the best ways to chill a red wine - which should be served cool but not cold, and why highly oaked wines should not be served cold. Wines reviewed in this episode: Louis Jadot 2020 Beaujolais-Villages, Nicolas Potel 2019 Beaujolais-Villages, and 2017 Cedergreen Cellars Gamay Noir.
