    The Untold 98 Percent

We are talking to former athletes who are now going pro in something other than sports. We dive into what exactly that looks like. The transition from sports to the “real world” is a tough time on any athlete and successfully navigating it is even harder.

The goal is that this podcast provides some relatable stories for current athletes or just transitioning athletes to get ready for life after sports. We talk about coming to terms with our identity and pros/cons of being an athlete in the “real world” and the journey of finding the next passion in life.

Most athletes aren’t able to immediately move past being that “player” but once you’re able to use sports as a tool rather than an identity you have the chance to do something special.

    Show notes

This is my story and my transition from sports to the "real world." We talk about what triggered this podcast and my mission that I'm on to tell the stories of athletes going pro in something other than sports.

Many athletes associate their identity with their particular sport. When they lose their sport, many athletes feel like they lose their identity. For almost every athlete, they reach a point where they start to realize that sports were not who they were, it was just something that they did.

The podcast documents these athletes as they start to find their new direction as life continues forward. And that although sports might be over, the lessons and challenges that were faced have lifelong applications. We discuss some of the major obstacles of navigating your first job and finding that next opportunity that will allow you to immerse yourself in something.

I've found that athletes are looking to funnel that same passion and motivation into something but do not always know what that expression looks like. I remember wondering if there was anything out there that could possibly replace basketball, and to be honest I'm still looking for it. But I think I'm getting closer.
