    The Unschool by Andi Alleman

Brand + Culture for Founders and Creatives.

The Unschool is a podcast for founders and creatives who are done following inherited business rules—and ready to build brands people actually care about.

Hosted by Andi Alleman, founder of Oui, We Studio and Casa Noon Beauty, the show explores brand, culture, content, and decision-making through a mix of lived experience and practical thinking. Expect conversations that weave Human Design, creative strategy, and the real inner work of being visible, leading, and scaling, without contorting your life to fit the business.

Most episodes are solo—part analysis, part perspective shift and part masterclass, part pep talk —with occasional guest conversations featuring founders from Andi’s Cult Brand world, sharing what it looks like to grow a resonant, profitable brand on their own terms.

If you’re building something, evolving your identity as a founder, or questioning the way business is “supposed” to be done, you’ll feel at home here.

    New episodes bi-weekly.

Living Your Design with PR Expert & Human Design Reader Kaila O'Connor Jul 14, 2022
    Show notes

On her 29th birthday, Kaila O'Connor left her abusive relationship for the last time and moved to Los Angeles alone to experience a fresh start with what she thought was her dream PR job.

Three months later, she discovered Human Design accepting and coming home to her 6/2 Splenic Projector identity.

Like a classic Saturn Return love story, Kaila's 29th and 30th years of life were spent experimenting with freelance work, becoming a reiki master practitioner and certified animal communicator, accepting a job in affiliate marketing (which she knew nothing about), reconnecting with and marrying her soulmate from college and finally moving to Chicago to be with her.

After working 10+ years in various PR agencies and feeling burnt out, low worth, and a lack of abundance, affiliate marketing and human design changed her life.

Kaila started her company KMO Consulting, while wearing the scars of her life experiences with pride. She's a self-taught pioneer in this new age of Affiliate PR. With a rolodex of key editor relationships and intuitive decision-making guided by her Human Design chart, Kaila's proven ability to generate high-revenue media coverage has disrupted the PR industry and its "always on the grind" mentality.

Water Divination, Shamanic Wisdom, and Plant Medicine with Seun Mendes Jun 30, 2022
    Show notes

Water Divination uses the element of water and mineral to open a window of communication between the diviner, ancestors, and the other world to weave together a concise story that speaks to the spirit of the person experiencing the divination.

Today's guest is Seun Mendes, Water Diviner and healer authorized and initiated to speak on behalf of the ancestors. I had an opportunity to experience Seun's medicine - an experience in which he offers prescriptions of rituals.

The act of getting a divination itself is a radical act in a sense, and one must be open for the healing and transformation that often takes place from receiving a Water Divination with Seun. Each Water Divination is unique and ties the language of spirit to the person's frequency.

The Philosophy of Beauty with Ada Polla, CEO of Alchimie Forever Jun 23, 2022
    Show notes

When reflecting on beauty the enlightenment philosopher David Hume said:

It exists merely in the mind which contemplates them, and each mind perceives a different beauty.

The nature of beauty is one of the most enduring and controversial themes in Western philosophy - beauty has been counted among the ultimate values, with goodness, truth, and justice. But what is beauty exactly? In today's episode, my guest Ada Polla, the CEO of Alchimie Forever, and a long-time beauty industry friend gets into this very topic.

Ada grew up in a very close-knit family with three sisters, the daughter of world-renowned Swiss dermatologist Dr. Luigi Polla — the first medical doctor to introduce laser technology to Europe. She started working with her father when she was a child. Saying Ada was raised in the world of beauty is an understatement. Skincare, beauty, and the importance of looking your best in order to feel good were a part of her upbringing.

As Ada launched Alchimie Forever, she and her family had a goal of bringing the magical and the mystical to skincare while using science to transform skin into something that's like gold. I met Ada back in my corporate beauty days - we've spent many days exploring the industry, meeting prominent and prestigious experts, and hearing their stories at conferences, workshops, boardroom meetings, and beyond.

Knowing Ada I thought, there's no better person to discuss the philosophy of beauty with than her.

As spiritual people - sometimes we may ask ourselves - is it vain to think about beauty and our skincare rituals? Can we be mystical people and care about our outward appearance too? What about body modification, and beauty-enhancing procedures like botox, fillers, etc? These are all questions that Ada and I dive into in this episode.

The Summer Reset: A 4-Part Hot Girl Wellness Tune-Up To Help You Feel Your Best Jun 09, 2022
    Show notes

We have the power to cultivate our well-being, just as we have the power to manifest by design. Will you choose to cultivate your emotional, spiritual, mental, and physical health this summer or stay in your comfort zone?

In this episode, we're focusing on four realms of well-being and discussing how to reset and tune-up for the summer ahead.

It's time to cultivate a new way of showing up for yourself every day. There's beauty in collapsing our old systems and structure. We find our power by re-designing our days – moving away from living in comfort and reactivity and into high vibrational and intentional practices.

The Summer Reset focuses on these four realms:

    - The Spiritual

    - The Emotional

    - The Mental

    - The Physical

Each of us deserves an opportunity to feel our best, restore our health and well-being, and live with happiness and joy.

Three Things I've Learned About Risk Taking May 12, 2022
    Show notes

Ah - those famous quotes about risk-taking. We've all heard them.

"Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far it is possible to go." - T.S. Eliot

"Do one thing every day that scares you." - Eleanor Roosevelt

So let's talk about it. Taking the risk. Making a big leap. Stepping into the fire. We know what a difference it can make in the trajectory of our lives, but so often we're too afraid to go for it.

Living in this digital world we often only see other people's end results. We see someone having the career we want, enjoying the success we wish we had, finding the dream apartment, meeting the loving romantic partner - and we think how did they do it?!

How are they so lucky to have all the beautiful things that seem to make life feel complete?

Before recording this episode I reflected, on what I've learned about risk-taking over the last several decades. In this episode, I'm spilling it.

Three things I've learned about risk-taking: You don't have to have the confidence to take the big leap, just the willingness to take the first step.

I share the story about vision boarding the brand new retreat house and the first steps I took to bring the dream to reality. Those steps included hiring an outsourced CFO and learning about real estate and the market where I was interested in buying property.

Stop watching everyone else's success and comparing yourself. It'll paralyze you.

When we allow in the comparison we're making so many assumptions about why someone else has it made and we don't. We start getting caught up in the "how" versus staying in a state of embodiment and flow. To become a master manifestor we need to hold the vision, align emotionally, and then find the practical strategies that will keep us moving forward in order to get us where we dream of going.

Be in community. Surround yourself with expanders, and get accountability partners to support you.

James Clear, the author of Atomic Habits, says "surround yourself with people who have the same goals as you, you'll rise together. Knowing that someone else is watching is a powerful motivator."

When making big moves call up the people that you know will believe in your vision, have a similar dream as yours, and cheer each other on along the way. If you don't already have these people in your life, join community groups or mastermind programs that will give you the opportunity to meet people doing what you dream of doing.
