Irv Gotti has announced his new TV series 'Tales' coming to BET. The show will have episodes based off Hip Hop songs, and each episode will be individual stories. We gotta salute Irv Gotti for taking Hip Hop to new levels. Holla at u Irv. Think 'Black Mirror' meets Hip Hop.

EP 068: Eminem's 'Stan', Lil Yachty flops + Drake & Kendrick are OG's Jun 07, 2017

Show notes

What it dew Trillions! Back again with episode 68 of the Truth Be Told Podcast from Trillmatic.com hosted by Riffa & Bigg UU. Thanks for supporting the podcast! Be sure to leave a 5 star review!

We kick off this episode with a little sports talk about Lebron James and Kevin Durant. The Golden State Warriors are now up 2-0 in the NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers. We also discuss why Kevin Durant is a fraud for going to the Warriors and what would happen if Lebron came back to win.

Now back to the Hip Hop. Eminem's track 'Stan' has been officially added to the dictionary but now there's been a new question. Who really created the way we use 'Stan' today? Was it Eminem or was it Nas when he rapped it on his diss track to Jay Z on 'Ether'? Who do you think started it?

We get into a Drake-induced slander segment. Recently Drake's artist rider was released to the public and we go over some the requests and try to figure the reasoning behind some of these items.

Chance the Rapper came out recently and referred to Drake and Kendrick Lamar as his OG's in the game and we're wondering if they're old enough to be called OG's. Kendrick Lamar also recently bought a Toyota Camry for his younger sister and people have the nerve to say Kendrick wa being cheap. ScHoolboy Q also came out and said that a Black Hippy album might not be coming out, we're just going to call them assholes until further notice.

Lil Yachty's album flopped and in his words it's because the people don't understand him. We have a different reasoning for why. And it involves the essence of Hip Hop.

Bill Maher made headlines for all the wrong reasons and we touch on politics briefly to talk about his racist remarks. We also talk about progressive cannibalism and how liberals are eating their own.

Childish Gambino is only dropping one more album but we think it's a full blow lie.

In our new segment (we'll name this segment later), we wondered what was going on with the rapper Jibbs. We did a little digging and bring you the most up to date info on him.

Riffa has never heard of Rich Chigga or watched the official video for 'Dat Stick'. We kick this episode off with a live reaction from Riffa. Needless to say he was caught off guard and impressed. We discuss the range of Xxxtentacion and if he'll have a future in music. If you know us, you might be surprised by our reaction. We also spoke briefly on the Lil Yachty's new album 'Teenage Emotions' which has a different response from us. Yes, this is the podcast of reviews and we also reviewed Gucci Mane & Metro Boomin's project 'DropTopWop'. We definitely had differing views on this one.

42:07 It's been 15 years since he dropped his album 'The Eminem Show' and we reminisced on the impact of the album. Where were you when this album came out? We also speak briefly on the Renegade and if Jay Z really got washed.

48:00 Meek Mill recently announced the title of his new album 'Wins and Losses' and he posted an instagram video of him listening to Drake's 'Back to Back'. We discuss what Meek Mill needs to talk about on his new album to regain his status.

57:54 CyHi The Prynce is gearing up to release his debut album 'No Dope On Sundays', the lyrical mastermind behind some of Kanye West's later projects. We discuss what's keeping CyHi The Prynce from reaching the masses. We talk about rappers taking the indie route and how it works for some and not all.

1:10:00 50 Cent is becoming the Black Television show Godfather and is working on a new TV Series based around the crime syndicate for 'Black Mafia Family'. Show notes

What it dew Trillions! Back again with episode 66 of the Truth Be Told Podcast from Trillmatic.com hosted by Riffa & Bigg UU. Thanks for supporting the podcast! Be sure to leave a 5 star review!

We kick this episode off with Riffa being welcomed to the Apple Music gang. That's right. By next year, Riffa will officially be iPhone gang. We also talked about the reason we switched to a Hip Hop podcast and we'll have video content coming to YouTube soon!

In this episode, we talked about Lil Uzi Vert's style of dress and how the culture hasn't given him a pass. Bigg UU has some hot takes and makes the comparison of clothing style to Prince, as well as Andre 3000 and Michael Jackson. Should Lil Uzi Vert care about what the public thinks?

Hip Hop has reached far and wide. Now, a Harvard professor gets his mind blown by a student who turned in an album instead of his these paper and scored high honors. We'll be reviewing that album next week! We also give a major shoutout to Hip Hop as a whole.

We reviewed Logic's new album 'Everybody' and talked about his album becoming number one in the country. But the next week, he broke the record for the biggest drop in unit sales. We also tried to figure out where all the hate for Logic comes from when he's such a positive dude.

Blac Youngsta has been arrested in connection to the Young Dolph vehicle shooting. We talked about who the real Kings of Memphis are and why rap beef should stay on wax. And we also talked about a new Three 6 Mafia biopic on the way. We also rattled off a few Hip Hop legends who deserve a biopic themselves.

T. Pain released the T-Wayne album with Lil Wayne and it may be too little, too late.

Kanye West is working on new music in Wyoming away from everyone and Pusha T has been enlisted to help drive inspiration for the album. We talk about what we're hoping to hear on the new album.

In this episode, we start off by explaining what we're going to be doing more of on the podcast and Bigg UU explains why he's a fan of Willie The Kid. Be sure to check out Willie The Kid's latest single '24 Hours' featuring Roc Marciano & V Don here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YiYmEggHCUI

The Game has announced a new album called 'Westside Story' and what would a West Coast album be without a feature from Kendrick Lamar, which was announced at the same time. So for discussion, we talked about whether or not The Game can hold his own, and drop a successful album with any features. We also discuss if The Game has reached legendary status. Bigg UU also explains why he thinks The Game has so many features on his albums.

Jay Z recently signed a new deal with popular concert promotion company Live Nation for $200 million for the next 10 years. That would put Jay Z at the old age of 57 years old. We talk about ageism in Hip Hop and what is considered old in this day and age.

YG has just created the Tip Drill of 2017 when he dropped his new official uncut video. We talk about the video and if it is better than Nelly's 'Tip Drill' video. Please put your kids to bed before playing the visual. We talk about the impact Nelly had with his video and how it's not the same for YG. Just so you know, we appreciate the ignorance. Watch both versions of YG's videos below:

BET Awards have released the nominations and the most interesting category was the female Rap category. With Nicki Minaj, Remy Ma, Young MA, Missy Elliott and Cardi B, is the female rap genre becoming more competitive? We discuss who may come out on top with the crown this year. We also explain why wack rappers are winning on the internet today and how you hating on them increases their status.

50 Cent, Childish Gambino aka Donald Glover and Tyler the Creator are bossing the TV landscape with 50 Cent's show 'POWER' the 2nd watched show on premium cable behind Game of Thrones, Donald Glover doing a Deadpool cartoon and Tyler getting a VICELAND show.

We also talk about The Clipse' most important track of all time with 'Grindin' and how it's been around for so long. We talked about Pharrell changing the game.

In this episode, we explain why we didn't give you an episode last week and that we're not "podfading." And we'll be sure to give you an episode every week from here on out.

Barack Obama and Chance The Rapper are giving back to Chicago by building a recording studio for the up and coming Hip Hop artists looking for a shot. In Barry's words, the next J.cole, Kendrick Lamar, and Chance The Rapper's of the world. He's also donated $2 million to the Chicago community. We talk about the future of the city of Chicago and who's really the one working in the trenches.

Funkmaster Flex has a lot to say about Tupac Shakur. Flex blamed the death of Biggie on Pac and things got crazy. We discuss where Biggie and Pac would be now and we trace the roots of the new rappers of today. Sharif also makes up a new word for the masses: legendry.

We also talk about Wale appearing on Everyday Struggle with DJ Akademiks and Joe Budden, after they called his new album "Shine" a flop. We also talk about Wale not being seen as top 5 as well as Big Sean and what Wale needs to do to get back to the top. Stop following the fickle mainstream fandom! While we were here, we talked about Joe Budden destroying Lil Yachty's pursuit of happyness.

The internets are a grand place. A place of hundreds and thousands of opinions. YouTubers, Podcasters, Radio shows, etc. It can be tough for an artist who is passionate about their art. We discuss what it means to be judged on the internet, what would happen if Facebook had a dislike button and the like button ruining the world.

Lil Uzi Vert was out the Rolling Loud Festival and took the stage dive of all stage dives from 20 feet in the air. We talk about dangerous stunts at concerts and why Lil Uzi is a rock star. We also talk about Mannie Fresh who recently stated that Cash Money played a part into the rap styles of today but we would rather see more Kendrick Lamars and J. Coles.

We also talked about the official music video for 'DNA' co-starring War Machine which we didn't get to do the last episode. Kendrick Lamar also announced his new tour with Travis Scott and D.R.A.M. and we're wondering why Austin, Texas isn't on the bill.

Desiigner has some choice words for NY Radio Stations. We discuss if Desiigner has fell off and we discuss other recent one hit wonders in the game. We also talk about the rise and fall of Trinidad James but how he can still be prosperous. We sidestepped Hip Hop talk to discuss Bruno Mars grip on the game right now.

We also talk about the new show 'Everyday Struggle' from DJ Akademiks and Joe Budden that's now on Complex. For those who follow Hip Hop Culture, hiring these two is the best thing Complex has done for their brand. Joe Budden also ran down on a Complex writer and hilarity ensues. Everyday Struggle is the Hip Hop version for ESPN's First Take or Undisputed.

We also talk about Wiz Khalifa's 4/20 release for his 7 year anniversary of his famed mixtape Kush and Orange Juice. He's also released his marijuana farm app. DMX recently performed a bad show and we hope he gets help asap. Lil Wayne had a drink thrown at him and the goon squad came out. And while that is going on, MGK aka Machine Gun Kelly had chest pains while performing recently. We also talk about MGK and if we consider ourselves fans.
