The Tragically Hip Top 40 Countdown: Song 15 â Sarah J from Buffalo
Ever wonder what it means to be demographically blessed when it comes to loving The Hip? This week, jD is joined by Sarah J from Buffalo as we count down song #15 on your list of essential Tragically Hip tracks. Get ready for a cross-border conversation thatâs equal parts memory lane and rock-fan confessional.
đ„ Episode Summary
This episode dives deep into the shared language of Hip fandomâthose little details that make you realize youâre talking to your people. We talk live show memories, late-â90s Buffalo radio, and how one perfect rain-soaked gig can live forever in your Top 5.
đ€ About the Guest
Sarah J is a lifelong music obsessive who got her first taste of The Tragically Hip at 13 thanks to Buffaloâs 103.3 The Fox. From there, itâs been a story of trips over the border for shenanigans, discovering Hip history in old flyers, and diving headlong into the full discographyâbecause âitâs like a book, and you want to start at the beginning.â Sheâs the kind of fan who can talk for hours about hearing Johnny Faye in the pocket and Sinclairâs lines sliding under the radar.
â€ïž Why It Matters
This is the kind of episode that makes you grateful you found The Hip. Itâs about the weird magic of fandomâthe friend whose license plate says âGrace Too,â the bachelorette party that turns into a setlist deep-dive, the single live show that becomes a life-long memory because Gord got drenched in the rain with the crowd. If youâve ever been that person at a party talking Hip trivia while everyone else rolls their eyesâthis oneâs for you.
