This week we have a show for entrepreneurs in the construction industry. In Australia the construction industry is a 424billion dollar, of which residential services is estimated at 72.3 billion. It has low concentration of market share, and success factors are proven financial, managerial, and technical ability. The size of home services, the renovations, improvements and maintenance aspects of the market account for 24% of revenue, with a major success factor being professionalism and customer service.
Our guest today, is an expert in the construction industry. Chirs Lalomia brings his unique style to leadership to build a culture of professionalism to the blue-collar world of home renovations. He left the corporate zoo and ventured into the entrepreneurial wild and started The Trusted Toolbox: Home Repair and Projects in 2008.

Welcome to Episode 385 of The Today's Leader Podcast, building tomorrow's best leaders today, and today we are speaking with business excellence expert, Rael Bricker, the author of the book DIVE In.
In 2013 Rael was given a rude awakening when after a season of triathlons, he decided to run a marathon.
All this was part of a plan before turning 50. Each time he ran, he experienced neck pain and it was discovered that he had two blocked arteries.
He was the lucky one and managed to dodge a bullet and ended up with two stents. Today he is back to close to his fitness and strength from 2013, but much more self-aware of listening of his body
This experience helped him find purpose in life. his purpose is to share the experiences of journeying and achieving excellence with business owners and entrepreneurs around the world.
After 30+ years as a serial entrepreneur, in everything from education to finance to fitness, its now his mission to share his knowledge and expertise with others. Hi biggest kick is Seeing that light come on, and connections being made in people’s heads as to how they can weave Rael's experiences and advice into their businesses, which reinforces the impact Rael makes.

The power of the pause on your leadership performance
Because, sometimes you simply have to pause. Pause for reflection, pause to stop the busyness, pause to think about the best way forward.
Many times pausing is the absolute best way forward. At times we just get caught up, we are on a treadmill, trying to keep up, juggling many different balls in the air, or worse still, we wear our busyness as a badge of honour, it’s something we get judged on. We need to be seen to be busy.
But guess what, most great leaders get judged on performance. Taking time to pause and simply prioritize, will make you more effective and perform better.

The last week has been a tough one for many Australians. The East Coast from Sydney through to the Sunshine Coast, has been hammered by flooding rains and many have felt the impacts of major flooding, sadly lives have been lost, many homes have been inundated and destroyed. It's been a harrowing time for many.
While confronting and dealing with these disasters, two Aussie legends have passed away. Rod Marsh, the wicketkeeper from the golden years of the 70s and early 80s, when Australia and the West Indies held the forefront of world cricket. And if that wasn't bad enough, just 24 hours later, we lost Shane Warne.
Warney, as many is Australia call him, was someone we all identified with. He made something that was daggy in leg-spin, cool. He was an authentic character who had confidence in his abilities, he made some blues, got into trouble, and in many ways was the person who many wanted to be. He lived life on his terms, and his abilities. He connected with people, all around the world, even those who had no idea of his cricket skills. He took over 708 test wickets and has really shocked the nation. He was just 52.
