Wimbledon Day 2 - Federer, Kerber, Serena Stutter; Brit Bonanza; Tomic, Kyrgios Confuse Jul 02, 2019
    Show notes

Roger Federer and Serena Williams typically stroll regally into round 2 at Slams, but on Tuesday, they stuttered before advancing.

Afterwards, David Law and Matt Roberts convened to discuss their progress, that of Angelique Kerber, and the impressive return of 7 British players into round 2 of Wimbledon.

The bizarre, bewildering performances of Bernard Tomic and Nick Kyrgios are discussed, as is the mouth-watering prospect of Kyrgios vs. Rafael Nadal.

News of Andy Murray playing mixed doubles with Serena Williams together broke moments after recording, so will be covered in tomorrow's podcast.

The Tennis Podcast is uploaded nightly during Wimbledon and all of the Grand Slam tournaments, in association with Telegraph Sport.

We also produce daily e-mail newsletters, with our match of the day predictions. To sign up - http://po.st/TTP_Newsletter.

Wimbledon Day 1 - Apocalyptic Shocks Galore Jul 01, 2019
    Show notes

Day 2 of Wimbledon was supposed to be the one that we remembered, but it will take some going to beat Day 1 for drama.

Naomi Osaka, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alexander Zverev all went tumbling in the space of a couple of hours, and today's Tennis Podcast trio of David Law, Charlie Eccleshare and Matt Roberts had their hands full making sense of it all. They gave it a good go on the broadcast roof at Wimbledon.

What happened to them all? Which was the biggest surprise? And how concerned should they all be?

Elsewhere, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Coco Gauff gave hope for the Next, Next Generation, with breakthrough wins.

And as Matt delves into the Wimbledon library, we find out how often more women's matches have been scheduled on Centre and Court One at Wimbledon than men's matches, as will happen on Tuesday.

The Tennis Podcast will be available daily throughout Wimbledon, produced in association with Telegraph Sport.

The official Tennis Podcast newsletter will go out every morning, including the daily predictions of Catherine Whitaker, David and Matt. Sign up here - http://po.st/TTP_Newsletter.

Wimbledon Preview - The Mix; Djokovic and Goran; Murray and Serena? Jun 30, 2019
    Show notes

With the 2019 Championships at Wimbledon upon us, Catherine invites David and Matt round to her garden to drink beer, eat strawberries and dissect the draws.

They do all of the above in our pre-Wimbledon podcast, whilst also trying to define 'the mix' at this year's event, discuss the new coaching relationship between Goran Ivanisevic and Novak Djokovic, and determine whether Andy Murray and Serena Williams will end up playing mixed doubles together.

The Tennis Podcast will be published daily throughout Wimbledon, in association with Telegraph Sport.

Queen's Day 7 - Lopez At The Double; The Andy Murray Story Continues; Ash Barty, New World No.1 Jun 23, 2019
    Show notes

Feliciano Lopez produced an astonishing day of tennis to win the singles and doubles titles at the Fever-Tree Championships at the age of 37, joining forces with Andy Murray after beating Gilles Simon.

Afterwards, an exhausted Catherine and David hauled themselves behind the microphone to reminisce, exchange stories, and talk about the latest tennis World No.1 - Ash Barty.

How did Barty get there and what are her prospects now. And are Lopez and Federer in the Wimbledon mix after their titles at the age of 37?

The Tennis Podcast is produced in association with Telegraph Sport, and will be available daily during Wimbledon.

    Queen’s Day 6 - Winner Stays On Jun 22, 2019
    Show notes

Feliciano Lopez won singles, then doubles, then doubles again to earn places in both finals at the Fever-Tree Championships on Sunday.

The 37-year-old Spaniard outlasted 18-year-old Felix Auger-Aliassime in three sets, and played two matches with Andy Murray to defy belief.

Afterwards, Catherine Whitaker, David Law and Matt Roberts convened to try to work out how on earth he did it.

    There’s also Joe Salisbury chat.

The Tennis Podcast is produced with Telegraph Sport, and available daily throughout the Fever-Tree Championships at The Queen’s Club, and Wimbledon.

Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

    Queen’s Day 5 - Felix Auger-Aliassime Arrives Jun 21, 2019
    Show notes

The name Felix Auger-Aliassime has been thrown around for a few years, and his rise up the rankings this year has been one of the most interest talking points of 2019.

Even the Tennis Podcast team weren’t expecting what he produced this week at Queen’s, beating Grigor Dimitrov, Nick Kyrgios and Stefanos Tsitsipas in the space of 26 hours.

He’s now into the semifinals against Feliciano Lopez, a man more than twice his age. Lopez came back from a set down to beat Milos Raonic in a final set tie-break.

Perhaps the winner of the title will be Daniil Medvedev, who squashed Diego Schwartzman 6-2, 6-2.

In doubles, there was more Andy Murray chat after he and Lopez were called off for bad light against Dan Evans and Ken Skupski.

The Tennis Podcast is produced with Telegraph Sport, and available daily throughout the Fever-Tree Championships at The Queen’s Club, and Wimbledon.

    Queen’s Day 4 - Andy Murray Is Back Jun 20, 2019
    Show notes

When Andy Murray struggled to haul himself onto a stool so that Catherine Whitaker could interview him in Australia, the idea that he would play stunning doubles at The Queen’s Club and celebrate like a big kid would have seemed frankly ridiculous.

    But that’s what has happened.

Catherine spoke live to Murray for Prime Video after his straight sets win alongside Feliciano Lopez against top seeds Cabal and Farah, and David sat in on all of his interviews. Murray could not stop talking. It was a joyous occasion.

Elsewhere, Stefanos Tsitsipas scraped through against Jeremy Chardy, and now meets Felix Auger-Aliassime, who played extraordinarily well to beat both Grigor Dimitrov and Nick Kyrgios in the same day. Kyrgios had further run-ins with officialdom. And repeat.

The Tennis Podcast is produced with Telegraph Sport, and available daily throughout the Fever-Tree Championships at The Queen’s Club, and Wimbledon.

    Queen’s Day 3 - Rain, Tennis, Drama Jun 19, 2019
    Show notes

More rain, but actual tennis as well. That’s the gist of the day 3 Tennis Podcast from the Fever-Tree Championships at The Queen’s Club.

Juan Martin del Potro looked in fine fettle against Denis Shapovalov, but then hurt himself and was forced to withdraw from the tournament with yet another knee injury.

Stan Wawrinka looked like he had added a turbo boost to his standard diesel engine as he raced to a 3-0 lead against Dan Evans, and never looked back. Is he in the mix? What about for Wimbledon?

Stefanos Tsitispas did what we suspected he might do - played like a dream, looked like a movie-star and basically won everyone over in about 10 minutes. Only problem was he was up against the British No.1, and Kyle Edmund has his work cut out at 3-6, 3-3 overnight after the rain came down again.

We cover the allegations around a doubles match that Feliciano Lopez played a couple of years ago, including his statement in response, the results elsewhere in Halle, Birmingham and Mallorca, and whatever else we could think of.

The Tennis Podcast is produced in association with Telegraph Sport, and will be available daily throughout the Fever-Tree Championships and Wimbledon.

    Queen's Day 2 - We don't need tennis for a tennis podcast. Jun 18, 2019
    Show notes

Not a single ball struck at the Fever-Tree Championships on Tuesday after only the third washout in the last 18 years.

But that doesn't mean there's no Tennis Podcast, as David Law and Catherine Whitaker prove here. They swap stories about their days in the Tournament Office and Prime Video studios respectively, and there's name-dropping and anecdotes galore about Stan Wawrinka, Andy Murray and Mark Philippoussis.

We also hear about tomorrow's order of play, updates on events in Halle and Birmingham, and an insight into the battle of the metal hips.

The Tennis Podcast is produced daily throughout the Fever-Tree Championships at The Queen's Club, in association with Telegraph Sport.

Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

    Queen's Day 1 - Stories, Gossip, Nostalgia galore Jun 17, 2019
    Show notes

Catherine, David and Matt meet on the Queen's Club balcony to share stories from their respective opening days at Queen's.

As well as the on-court action, Catherine talks about Greg Rusedski's brand new interest, Matt hits the nail on the head about Daniil Medvedev, and David delves into his monster memory-bank to recall his first locker room experience. It involves, Wayne Ferreira, Michael Stich and a final set tie-break with light fading.

The Tennis Podcast is produced daily throughout the Fever-Tree Championships at The Queen's Club, and will be daily throughout Wimbledon.
