The Versailles Time Slip: The Moberly–Jourdain Incident Explained Jun 20, 2026
    Show notes

Did two women accidentally step back in time at the Palace of Versailles? In this eerie episode of The Strange History Podcast, we explore the Moberly–Jourdain Incident, one of the most famous alleged “time slip” experiences in history. In 1901, Charlotte Anne Moberly and Eleanor Jourdain visited the Petit Trianon at Versailles—and encountered something they couldn’t explain. They described a sudden shift in atmosphere, people dressed in 18th-century clothing, and a mysterious woman they later believed to be Marie Antoinette herself. Was this a shared hallucination, a psychological phenomenon, or evidence that time isn’t as fixed as we believe? Their detailed and matching accounts, later published in An Adventure, continue to puzzle historians and paranormal researchers alike. If you’re fascinated by time travel, historical mysteries, paranormal encounters, and unexplained phenomena, this story will leave you questioning reality itself.

The Global Consciousness Project: Can Human Thoughts Affect Reality? Jun 19, 2026
    Show notes

Can human consciousness influence reality? In this mind-bending episode of The Strange History Podcast, we explore the Global Consciousness Project, a decades-long experiment that studied whether collective human thought and emotion could measurably affect physical systems.
Originating from researchers at the Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research Lab (PEAR), the project used random number generators around the world to detect anomalies during major global events. From tragedies like 9/11 to moments of shared human focus, the data revealed subtle but consistent deviations that challenge our understanding of consciousness and reality.
Is it possible that billions of human minds form a kind of shared consciousness? Could collective emotion influence the physical world? And if so, what does that mean for how we experience reality—and who might be studying it?
If you’re fascinated by consciousness, science mysteries, conspiracy theories, and unexplained phenomena, this episode will leave you questioning how connected we really are.

Operation LAC: When the U.S. Secretly Sprayed Chemicals Over Cities Jun 18, 2026
    Show notes

Did the U.S. government really spray chemicals over its own citizens? In this chilling episode of The Strange History Podcast, we uncover the truth behind Operation LAC (Large Area Coverage), a Cold War-era experiment where the U.S. Army released microscopic particles into the atmosphere over populated areas to study how biological weapons might spread.
Conducted in the late 1950s, Operation LAC used zinc cadmium sulfide to track dispersal patterns across cities and rural regions—all without public knowledge or consent. While officials claimed the substance was harmless, later research raised questions about potential health risks and long-term exposure.
Why did the government carry out these tests? What did they learn? And what does this reveal about the lengths taken during the Cold War in the name of national security?
If you’re fascinated by government experiments, Cold War secrets, conspiracy theories, and declassified history, this episode dives into one of the most unsettling real-life operations ever conducted on American soil

Savannah's Yellow Fever Epidemic: The 1820 Outbreak That Haunted a City Jun 17, 2026
    Show notes

In 1820, Savannah faced one of the deadliest epidemics in its history. In this episode of The Strange History Podcast, we explore the true story of the yellow fever outbreak that devastated the city, killing an estimated 700 people—though the real number may be much higher due to incomplete records.
Historical newspapers described a city in collapse, with headlines reporting “The city is nearly deserted” and “Deaths increase daily at an alarming rate.” As panic spread, residents fled inland, businesses shut down, and those left behind faced a disease they didn’t yet understand. At the time, yellow fever was believed to be caused by “bad air,” decades before mosquitoes were identified as the true source.
Burials were rushed, often in mass graves, particularly in places like Colonial Park Cemetery, where capacity was overwhelmed. Combined with additional outbreaks in 1819 and the 1850s, Savannah endured repeated waves of sudden loss that reshaped the city’s development.
Today, visitors report unexplained sensations—dizziness, unease, and shadowy figures—especially in historically affected areas. While skeptics point to environmental factors, the overlap between documented symptoms and modern experiences keeps the mystery alive.
This episode blends real historical records, newspaper accounts, and modern reports to explore a city shaped by epidemic tragedy.
Because some histories don’t stay in the past…
    They linger in the streets.

The Town With No Birds: When Nature Goes Silent and Something Moves In Jun 16, 2026
    Show notes

What happens when nature suddenly goes silent… and no one knows why?
In this eerie episode of The Strange History Podcast, we explore real places where birds vanished, wildlife disappeared, and the natural sound of life simply… stopped. From the burning underground fire of Centralia to the unsettling quiet zones of Hoia Baciu Forest, and the radiation-altered landscape following the Chernobyl disaster, this episode dives into the chilling phenomenon of places where nature refuses to stay.
Why do birds abandon certain locations? Can environmental disasters like underground coal fires and nuclear fallout explain the silence… or is something else at play? Scientists point to toxic gases, radiation, and infrasound, but history—and eyewitness accounts—suggest something far more unsettling. When animals leave and the world goes quiet, it may not mean emptiness… it may mean something has taken their place.
Blending real history, environmental mystery, and deeply unsettling human experiences, this episode explores why silence in nature triggers fear, what it might signal, and why some places feel wrong long before we understand why.
Because sometimes, the most terrifying sound in the world… is nothing at all.
