    9:06 min

Synopsis: In this fortnightly podcast series on Mondays, The Business Times breaks down actionable financial tips.

In this week's episode, we talk about CPF investments, and if you should invest them in a turbulent market. Chris Lim hosts Gregory Van, chief executive and founding partner of Endowus, the only digital investment adviser that now has a CPF investment option, as he answers the following:

    1. What is the difference between traditional CPF investment schemes and digital schemes? Are there hidden fees? (1:02)

    2. In a turbulent market now worsened by the coronavirus threat, should you invest your CPF funds? (4:09)

    3. CPF is your long-term money. How can it perform if you take a similar long-term market view versus just leaving it in CPF? (5:14)

    4. Invest wisely, strategically, not tactically. Strategic investment means a long-term approach, whereas a tactical investment means trying to beat the market with constant changes. Find out the pros and cons of such approaches (9:29)

S1E30: Breaking common misconceptions about exercise: Health Check Ep 31 Mar 01, 2020
    Show notes

Health Check Ep 31: Breaking common misconceptions about exercise
    17:25 mins
Synopsis: In this fortnightly podcast series on Wednesdays, The Straits Times guides you to healthier living and clears up common misconceptions on health with expert guests.

In this episode, ST correspondent Joyce Teo and podcasting head Ernest Luis host Dr Dinesh Sirisena, who is a consultant at the sports medicine department of Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.

This episode is aimed at popular misconceptions about exercise.

Dr Dinesh answers the following questions:
    1. Doing crunches: Does that really give you a "flat tummy"? (0:35)

    2. Is it true that a person needs to work out every day, to lose weight? (2:33)

    3. Is it good to avoid eating before you exercise, to help you lose weight faster? (4:36)
    4. Body mass index: Is there a trend to move away from only BMIs as a sole gauge, and consider too, body composition and body fat percentages? The bioimpedance machine at Admiralty Medical Centre can calculate your body fat percentage, and that is more accurate than BMI. (7:59)

    5. If you have injured a part of your body, for example, your knee or ankle, should you lay off exercise completely? (12:33)

S1E57: Men behaving badly: The Gentlemen and The Invisible Man | Double Feature Movie Podcast Mar 01, 2020
    Show notes

A film that was able to silence a group of chatty teens and get them to stop checking their phones? Yes, we are dealing with powerful stuff here.

But which of this week's films has that level of power.

Two films that return to familiar territory.

First up is Guy Ritchie's return to London crime capers, The Gentlemen. The other is the genius new take on an old classic, Leigh Whannell's The Invisible Man.

Hugh Grant expands his repertoire with some lengthy tales, while Elizabeth Moss thinks that something is there in the corner of the room.

    Jonathan Roberts reviews both
