State of the Nova Nation: Comeback 'Cats, Butler Breakdown, the rest of the Big East schedule! Dec 15, 2020
    Show notes

The Comeback 'Cats were at it in their Big East opener, as the Villanova Wildcats used a couple of massive runs in the second half to overcome a big deficit against their rival Georgetown Hoyas. Villanova heated up from long range, then clamped down on the defensive end to go ahead and ultimately win, 76-63. With the DePaul Blue Demons undergoing a COVID-related shutdown, the 'Cats now turn their attention to the Butler Bulldogs in their first true home game at Finneran Pavilion on Wednesday night. It's a new-look Butler team that has also faced its share of COVID-related shutdowns and will be playing its first game since Nov. 25. Also, we can now (tentatively) look forward to the rest of the Big East schedule! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

State of the Nova Nation: Everything's Bigger In Texas Dec 03, 2020
    Show notes

After an extended stay in Mohegan Sun, the Villanova Wildcats will finally say good bye to Bubbleville. Before leaving, they managed to pick up a lopsided win over the Hartford Hawks. While they were heavy favorites to emerge victorious, there were plenty of positives from the game -- from the bench production to the balanced scoring. Now, they'll gear up for a much tougher opponent in the Texas Longhorns, who are currently undefeated at 4-0. We preview Texas, and discuss the confirmed Dec. 19 game against the Virginia Cavaliers at Madison Square Garden. We top off the episode with a crowded mailbag. Learn more about your ad choices. State of the Nova Nation: 2K Classic Champs, Bubble Burst, Prepping for a Different Kind of Hawks Dec 01, 2020
    Show notes

Apologies! Some technical issues caused by the recording device affected the final audio, so as a way to protect your ears from static and blown out audio, the best compromise was to make it sound like AM radio...which you'll see what we mean. This episode focuses on the Villanova Wildcats' season-opening early-season tournament win at the 2K Empire Classic, followed by a disappointing loss to Virginia Tech in overtime. With St. Joe's shutting down for COVID-related reasons, the Wildcats have scheduled a new impromptu opponent in Bubbleville: the Hartford Hawks. Learn more about your ad choices. State of the Nova Nation: Basketball is Back, Baylor Bounces, One Bite, and more! Nov 25, 2020

The Villanova Wildcats open up things with the Boston College Eagles, a rematch of the 2006 Sweet 16. Afterwards, the Wildcats will take on the Arizona State Sun Devils or the Rhode Island Rams. The Baylor Bears had to drop out of the tournament due to their head coach testing positive for COVID-19, leading to the Rams to take their place. We preview and take another look at the teams that will be competing alongside 'Nova at the 2K Empire Classic. Back at Villanova, the school announced that it will be limiting its fan attendance policy even further, only allowing families of players to attend home games. Also, the One Bite Pizza Review for Campus Corner came out. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

We'll hit the rest of the Big East teams on Thursday. Before we dive into the 2020-21 schedule, the NCAA announced that it will be bubbling up for the NCAA Tournament, with all rounds taking place in Indianapolis. Also, Barstool's Dave Portnoy made a visit to Campus Corner, one of the greatest establishments of all time. And Villanova Wildcats alum Maalik Wayns is a basketball coach now! Chris Lane joins the State of the Nova Nation's Season 6 Premiere, where we discuss the team's high ceiling, preseason buzz, take a look at some Villanova Wildcats coming off of redshirt years. We also attempt to begin to piece together what the potential rotation looks like. It's a close to impossible task to truly project the rotation with the abundance of talented returners. Seems like a good problem for the 'Cats, as they've already received plenty of preseason buzz. With virtually everyone back and no freshmen to break in, Villanova is primed for a big season.
