In this episode of The State of Bend, we're talking housing, specifically HB 2001, which is a legislative bill that expands housing options for the state of Oregon and then directs cities to expand their own building and zoning codes. The City of Bend now permits cottage clusters, quadplexes, etc which creates more options between an apartment and a single-family home.

Note: Politics, civil service, advocacy at its heart is about relationships and building community in order to collaborate and serve the community better- campaigns are coming on the scene as we move closer to November 2022 and the three of us naturally have friendships with some of the candidates and that’s our biased action in this episode and most likely future episodes with candidates.
We have invited Commissioner DeBone to come on as well and he accepted, and that episode will be coming in a few weeks.

Another doubleheader weekend! We had an awesome chat with Chris Boyd, Principal at the new @calderahighschool. I was so impressed by Chris’ dedication to the students and the innovation going on at Caldera. He pointed out that the 9th graders coming in this fall haven’t had an uninterrupted year since they were sixth graders. @calderahighschool ribbon cutting is October 21st - there’s a BBQ outside and then the ribbon cutting at halftime. Bring your family, masks and let’s celebrate community together.
