611 - CONNECTING all the trails & buck sign for a big public land buck! Aug 22, 2024

This week we are joined by Cale Stancil, who was able to tag a huge Tennessee public land buck last season! Cale focused on hunting a thermal hub the buck had been coming through and used historical sign and a knowledge of wind and thermals to put himself in the right place at the right time. Subjects include:

- Reading historical sign

- Hunting an area based off past experience rather than trail cams

- Learning the spot you are going to hunt like the back of your hand

- Learning how to hunt areas where wind normally swirls

- Choosing the right MOMENT to access a spot

608 - EXTREME Southern Deer Hunting Tactics with Glen Solomon [THROWBACK] Aug 12, 2024

Today, we are bringing it back to the classic of all classics for the Southern Outdoorsmen Podcast - Episode 116 with Glen Solomon. Glen was a true woodsman in every sense of the word and was a local legend in his home state of Georgia! In this episode, we do a deep dive into Glen's thought process when it comes to hunting whitetails on pressured WMA's across Georgia. The year before we recorded this podcast, Glen tagged 5 mature bucks in Georgia on 5 different WMA's (utilizing bonus buck hunts on WMA's after he tagged out). About one month after we recorded this episode, Glen passed away, and we are glad we were able to record this and preserve this local legend, speaking on what he did best in his own voice.

As a longtime writer for GON, Glen had a lot of unpublished work. After Glen's passing, his family posthumously published some of Glen's work. You can order the book, "Hunting on the Fly" by Glen Solomon at the link below:
