Miller Morning Madhouse – A SoCool Podcast Joint

🎙️ Miller Morning Madhouse – A SoCool Podcast Production

From the slightly warped minds behind The SoCool Podcast comes Miller Morning Madhouse — the unholy offspring of 1980s talk radio, Gen X nostalgia, and questionable life choices. Broadcasting straight from the SoCool Studios in Gary, Indiana, this is where chaos meets caffeine.

It all began with The SoCool Podcast — an improv joint featuring Jerry Pancake, Christopher Robin, and the ever-sultry Yolo Monte Cristo, where two forty-something guys tried to stay cool with zero research and 100% attitude. That same spirit of reckless creativity lives on in the Madhouse, now starring Jerry Pancake, Josh Scramble, Jen Pancake, and Elizabeth Benedict — the wildest morning crew this side of Lake Michigan.

Expect the familiar SoCool mix of improv comedy, fake commercials, nostalgic wormholes, and Miller Beach mayhem — now supercharged with local flavor, trivia battles, and unfiltered banter. It’s morning radio the SoCool way: louder, looser, and proudly sponsored by SoCoolShirts.com
    — Wear your weird.

So have a Miller Pour or a Miller Lite, tune in, and join the crew as they carry the SoCool torch into a new generation of comedy, community, and glorious dysfunction.

“All you guys do is sit up there and talk about how f*cking cool you are.”
Yeah. That’s kind of the point.

Buckle up, Miller. The madhouse doors are open. 🎧🔥

    Show notes

Summer in Miller Beach is somehow already half over, so Jerry Pancake, Josh Scramble, and Jen Pancake check in on everything that's happened during a jam-packed July. From nonstop community events and unpredictable weather to golf carts, beach days, and what's still coming before summer wraps up, the crew catches everyone up in classic Madhouse fashion. Along the way they debate whether Miller has too much entertainment, poke fun at neighborhood life, and unveil one of their most ridiculous commercials yet—a subscription service that bundles absolutely everything into packages nobody would ever want. If you've ever wondered what HBO Max, Costco, Buffalo Wild Wings, SiriusXM, and a car wash have in common... this episode has the answer.

    MMM S8E6: Jury Doody Jun 17, 2026
    Show notes

    🎙️ S8E6 – Jury Doody

In this episode of Miller Morning Madhouse, Jerry Pancake and Josh Scramble tackle one of life's most dreaded assignments: jury duty. Josh shares the story of being summoned to the Lake County Courthouse for a potential murder trial, complete with long waits, courtroom confusion, colorful characters, and the growing fear that he might actually get picked. Meanwhile, Jerry reveals that he'd love to serve on a jury, proving once again that these two approach almost everything from completely opposite directions.

The guys swap stories about past jury experiences, courthouse adventures, the infamous COVID-era Zoom lawyer who accidentally appeared as a cat, and the strange social experiment that happens when hundreds of strangers are trapped together waiting for their civic fate. As always, the conversation takes plenty of unexpected detours before Mother Nature decides to join the show with a tornado warning that sends everyone scrambling for cover.

Expect courtroom comedy, weather drama, random tangents, and all the usual Miller Morning Madhouse chaos.

MMM: Breakfast Bites - Baseball Movies and Stereo Salesman Apr 28, 2026
    Show notes

🎙️ Miller Morning Madhouse – Breakfast Bite - Baseball Movies and Stereo Salesman

This Breakfast Bite is a full-on nostalgia trip through baseball movies—with Jerry Pancake and Josh Scramble and Count Krissy Chocula firing off takes on everything from Major League to deep cuts like Little Big League and Mr. Baseball. It starts as a simple “favorite baseball movies” convo and quickly turns into a chaotic, quote-filled spiral of classic scenes, random trivia, and borderline unhinged commentary.

You’ve got love for the legends, some disrespect for the overrated (Field of Dreams catching strays), and a whole lot of appreciation for the weird, forgotten gems. Sprinkle in some Eastbound & Down, a little Sandlot guilt for almost forgetting it, and somehow we end up talking stereo salesmen, Jennifer Jason Leigh slander, and the death of entire professions thanks to iPods.

    🙌 Shoutouts & Sponsors

    • 🎭 Huge love to the Miller Community Theatre – Little Shop of Horrors wrapped, but auditions are coming up for the next show (Urinetown), so get involved and support local.
    • 🧠 All In Jest Trivia – Trivia may be over (for now), but the legends—and questionable answers—live on.

    Show notes

    🎙️ S8E4 – Fair Weather Fan-Dom

In this episode of Miller Morning Madhouse, Jerry Pancake and the crew dive headfirst into the chaotic world of fair weather fandom—the kind that disappears faster than a White Sox playoff run. From bandwagon jumpers to lifelong sufferers, nothing (and no one) is safe as we break down what it really means to stick with your team… or bail the second things get ugly.

And just when you think it couldn’t get any weirder… we’re joined by special guest Count Krissy Chocula, bringing her own unique (and possibly unhinged) perspective to the madness. Expect laughs, wild takes, and a little bit of chaos sprinkled in for good measure.

From local gripes to off-the-rails observations, this episode keeps it short, sharp, and just a little unhinged—exactly how breakfast radio should be.

It’s the kind of episode that makes you laugh, nod your head, and maybe question a few life decisions… all before your second cup of coffee.

☕ Breakfast Bites – Bears, Taxes, and Bad Decisions

In this episode of Miller Morning Madhouse, we debut a brand-new segment called Breakfast Bites — quick, caffeinated takes on the news that’s got everyone talking before the coffee even kicks in.

This week, Jerry Pancake and Jen Pancake dig into the rumored relocation of the Chicago Bears to Hammond, Indiana, and things get a little heated. What starts as a simple sports headline quickly turns into a spirited conversation about taxpayer funding, local priorities, and whether it makes any sense to bankroll a franchise that hasn’t exactly been dominating the NFL for the last few decades.

Jen brings the thoughtful perspective, Jerry brings the ranting, and together they unpack the strange logic of expecting a shiny new stadium to magically fix everything — while communities around Northwest Indiana are still dealing with real issues like infrastructure and local investment.

It’s sports, politics, and community priorities — mixed with sarcasm, laughs, and a few breakfast-table rants.

A big thanks to our friends and sponsors:

🎭 All In Jest Trivia — bringing the fun to Miller with great trivia nights at the Marshall J. Gardner Center.
👕 SoCool Shirts — retro, weird, and proudly local apparel. Check them out at www.socoolshirts.com.
🌱 And don’t forget — tickets are on sale now for the Miller Community Theatre’s upcoming production of Little Shop of Horrors. Support local theatre and grab your seats while you can!

MMM S8E1: Miller Prom Recap BYOB? Feb 26, 2026
    Show notes

    🎉🎀 S8E1 – Miller Prom Recap: BYOB? 🍷🕺

This is the full Miller Prom breakdown — from sequined jackets ✨ and leather dresses 🖤 to piano ties getting aggressively tickled on the dance floor 🎹😏. We cover the adrenaline rush of almost getting kicked out, the 30-minute vodka wait that ended in a cup of straight regret 🥤, gummy miscalculations 🌿, Flamingo afterparty magic 🦩, and the rare Miller night where nobody fought, nobody flipped a table, and everyone somehow looked fantastic doing it 💃🕺.

Despite a few logistical “learning opportunities” 🍸📉, the dance floor was packed all night thanks to The Ramos Band 🎶, who absolutely crushed it.

Episode music comes courtesy of Jerry Clemons and Chad Burton of the Nick Danger Band 🎸🔥 — because nothing says “adult prom recap” like locally sourced rock and roll.

More than anything, this episode is about Miller showing up ❤️. The outfits. The energy. The afterparty photo with half the town squeezed into one frame 📸. The fact that for one night, it was just neighbors dancing, laughing, and being beautifully ridiculous together.

We may have notes about bar execution 🍹📋.

    Advent 2025 E25 - All the Presents... Dec 25, 2025
    Show notes

    🎁 Episode 25 – All the Presents… 🎁

The Miller Morning Madhouse Advent Calendar (The Whole Damn Thing)

This is it. The big one. The entire Advent Calendar… unwrapped, dumped on the floor, and re-assembled into one glorious, unhinged, 2½-hour episode of Miller Morning Madhouse madness.

Every bit. Every joke. Every musical moment. Every rant, laugh, argument, accidental insight, and festive derailment from December all packed into one long, cozy (and occasionally chaotic) listen. If you missed an episode, this is your cheat code. If you heard them all… congratulations, you’re now legally part of the show.

More than anything, this episode is a love letter to Miller. To our friends, neighbors, collaborators, guests, musicians, sponsors, weirdos, and community institutions who showed up, jumped in, lent their voices, their time, and their patience to this very dumb podcast.

We truly love you all. This show only works because of the people around us the laughs in the room, the texts afterward, the “hey, I listened” comments in the wild. That’s the good stuff.

Thank you for spending December with us. Thank you for supporting local nonsense. Thank you for being part of the Madhouse.

We’re going to take a breath, drink some water, and we’ll be back this spring with a brand-new season; louder, dumber, and somehow even more heartfelt.

    Until then…

Stay weird. Stay local. Stay Miller.

    Advent 2025 E24 - Caroling...Caroling... Dec 24, 2025
    Show notes

    Episode 24 – Caroling… Caroling…

The episode features two festive musical moments: “The 12 Days of Miller,” performed by Jerry Pancake, Jen Pancake, and Josh Scramble, followed by a joyful rendition of “Feliz Navidad” performed by the incredible folks from the Miller Community Theatre.

Somehow, in the middle of a board meeting, the theatre crew grabbed songbooks, found their harmonies, and generously took time out of their night to help record for this dumb podcast — and we couldn’t be more grateful. It’s exactly the kind of community chaos that makes Miller, Miller.

It’s heartfelt, a little unpolished, unexpectedly beautiful, and ends exactly the way Christmas in the neighborhood should — with laughter, music, and someone urgently announcing that we need to leave the neighborhood immediately.

Huge thanks to the Miller Community Theatre for always showing up, pitching in, and proving once again that Miller has the best people anywhere.

Merry Christmas from all of us at the Miller Morning Madhouse.

    Advent 2025 E23 - 'Twas 2 Nights Before Christmas... Dec 23, 2025
    Show notes

    Episode 23 – ’Twas 2 Nights Before Christmas… (Read by a Ghost)

On December 23rd, the Miller Morning Madhouse takes a quieter, creepier, and very local turn. Told in the spirit of ’Twas the Night Before Christmas and narrated from beyond the dunes by the ghost of Diana of the Dunes, this episode captures a perfect Miller Beach Christmas Eve.

From cars stuck in half-snow, half-sand… to Flamingo patrons holding drinks while tow trucks do their thing… from trivia night rage to pizzas flying out of Miller Pizza… from boaters blasting terrible music to locals losing their minds at stop signs — it’s all here.

This is Miller Beach as it really is: funny, messy, frustrating, lovable, and home.

No puppets. No yelling. Just a poetic snapshot of the neighborhood we know and love — ending the only way it can:

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.
