Stay ConnectedAmerica, we gotta get back to doing what’s expected of us as free citizens in this democracy. That means being tolerant, being respectful, staying informed, and being engaged. I’m former Congressman Joe Walsh. Follow me here and join the millions of Americans who are renewing their social contract with each other. The social contract. It’s on us.

Yes, it was unserious, yes, it was performative, and yes, it was a major national security risk. But the reason Donald Trump & Pete Hegseth summoned 800 of our top military commanders from around the world to all meet at a base outside DC today was much more serious, and much, much more frightening.

For the umpteenth time, this should never happen in America. This is what our founders feared. And in the year 2025, it’s exactly what Trump is doing. Putting the military on our streets against the American people. We must not allow it. He should be taken to court immediately, and we all should protest like we’ve never protested before.

Trump made very clear during the 2024 election that if elected, he was going to go after his political opponents. Retribution was going to be his focus. And that’s what he’s doing. And he’s taken over the Justice Department to do it. And we can blame Trump and his enablers for allowing this fascism to happen. But the real fault lies with the American people. Trump said he would do this but too many Americans just didn’t care

As always, political violence is ALWAYS wrong. And…masked agents grabbing people off of our streets and disappearing them into unmarked vans is ALSO wrong. And un-American. We are telling people from around the world to stay away from America. Shame on us.

I’ve only been a Democrat a few months. I sat down with two long time Democrats. Turns out we disagree on plenty of policy, Israel/Gaza included. But we listened to each other and had a conversation. Not a debate, a conversation. And btw, we agreed that policy differences right now are ok. All that matters right now is preserving democracy.

Watching that press conference yesterday, with the world’s biggest idiot talking about autism & vaccines & Tylenol & pregnancy, I actually thought for the first time in a long, long time that we’re completely fucked and there’s no coming back from this. Woke up this morning, wondering the same. We put a horrible human being in the White House. Democrats don’t understand how it happened, and Republicans don’t give a f#ck.

We’re fighting a monster. The antithesis of the social contract is sitting in the White House. Being tolerant and respectful means fighting back against his intolerance and disrespect. Being informed means keeping the lines of communication open with everyone in our community, then sharing the facts we learn with others. And staying engaged means resisting with everything we’ve got.

Since the killing of Charlie Kirk, there has been an organized, concerted, and angry effort on the eight to attack free speech, to shut down speech they don’t like, and to get people fired for things they say. Today’s Republican Party has declared war on free speech.
