Stay ConnectedAmerica, we gotta get back to doing what’s expected of us as free citizens in this democracy. That means being tolerant, being respectful, staying informed, and being engaged. I’m former Congressman Joe Walsh. Follow me here and join the millions of Americans who are renewing their social contract with each other. The social contract. It’s on us.

I will continue to say that because Democrats dropped the ball for so long on immigration enforcement, Trump got elected again. But Trump, the bad person he is, has taken immigration enforcement to a dark, ugly, cruel, extreme, lawless, un-American place. And because Trump had done this, we’re gonna see a blue tsunami this November like we’ve never seen.

So we found out yesterday from the Epstein files that in 2018, Steve Bannon told Epstein that the 25th Amendment should be invoked against Trump. Back then. So utterly at odds with everything Bannon says publicly about Trump. And it reminded me and disgusted me once again, that Trump and everyone in Trump’s orbit lies. All the time. They don’t give a damn about the truth. We just don’t speak enough about this.

Yes, I’m a Democrat for now, but in most ways, I’m still politically homeless. And that’s always obvious whenever I say or post something critical of both sides. Whenever I do that, undoubtedly, the vast, vast majority of people on each side refuse to accept the criticism of their side. We gotta be better than that.

I sat down with a dear friend & work colleague of mine who told me the story of how her brother went down the Trump rabbit hole, how it impacted her relationship with him so much that when he suddenly died of a heart attack a few weeks ago, she and her mother were not allowed to even attend his funeral. A story we all, to varying degrees, can relate to in this Trump era.

Yes, Pam Bondi was a disgrace yesterday. And an embarrassment. And yes, there is a HUGE Epstein files coverup happening. But Pam Bondi isn’t responsible for the coverup. Donald Trump is. Bondi is just carrying out his orders. Which is why it’s so disingenuous for MAGA talkers to go after Bondi, but not Trump.

I engage with MAGA voters every single day. And I’ve said this before, but most MAGA voters will have to feel real pain before they might even turn away from Trump. Economic pain because of Trump’s tariffs, or economic and community pain because of his cruel deportations. A small MAGA town in Idaho is feeling that pain right now. It’ll be interesting to see what they do.

Pretty much everything that ICE is doing is the opposite of what Cops try to do. Law enforcement is trained to de escalate situations, ICE purposely escalates situations. Cops work on trust, ICE works on fear. Cops follow the Constitution, ICE ignores the Constitution. Which again is why ICE must be abolished. Now.

Trump has succeeded politically when the American people are afraid, angry, and resentful. Like all successful demagogues, Trump’s entire political messaging has always revolved around hate, fear and division. And that messaging was on full display last night during the Super Bowl’s halftime show.
